Hello guys I have a question hope you can help me. ¿ how many watts do I need in a solar generator to keep working a Storm Heater 1,500 TT patio unit? At least for 6 hours. Please help me out thanks
I purchased a champion inverter generator 8,750 peak watts and 7000 running watts I purchased it for my mig welder but now I think I’ll just use it for a backup generator. I bought it in July 2023 and I still haven’t used it yet so it’s still in the factory box. I paid 800.00 for it
I am sure you have your answer by now but if not, then answer is no, you can run a freezer off of a standard generator. I recommend inverters though because they are far more fuel efficient.
No simple information on how to calculate what size to get! They did say for a refrigerator start up is about 1500 watts and drops down to 1000 watts. Nothing about gas furance or water heater.
Excellent discussion .. totally agree that the other considerations such as size and fuel consumption .. are so important. My two inverters GP2200i and Ryobi 2300 with bluetooth serve me well .. in every way .. from appliances, electronics, cooking with 600 watt microwave and 900-1200 watt induction hotplate .. even emergency cooling when needed .. with a small temporary 6000btu portable window vented free standing air conditioner .. using a good 10 gauge cord to Ryobi .. when central air is down. Inverter around 2000 watts with slightly higher surge .. quiet, portable, pure sine wave power .. barely sips gas, perfect for very long term outage .. especially rotating two units. A couple of 55 gallon ply barrels of general use water and several 24 packs of bottled water, with two year shelf life, stored away.. eliminates the need for well pump during outage. Add a wireless refrigerator/freezer thermometer with external readout unit .. total cost about $20 .. and one only needs to run generator when they reach 39 degrees for refrig and zero for freezer. Saves lots of gas. My refrigerator uses about 700 watts start-up and just under 100 watts running. The fridge thermometer even has a little wireless alarm that lets me know when to re-start generator. My 2200 watt whisper quiet 59 decibel inverter suits me just fine for long term outage .. I can watch small 12 volt LED Television/DVD player which uses about 26 watts, cook most anything .. and sit back using my laptop in comfort .. with plenty of lights around the house .. and a fan .. fifteen to twenty gallons of stabilized ethanol free gas should power everything for close a week with ultra-clean electronically friendly power. Thanks for posting this .. Cheers. ~b
