    That is one of the scariest stories I've ever heard! I'm certain the audio effects had a strong influence on the presentation, just as does music in a movie, but the atmosphere you painted with words was eerie and troubling. You are a master in your craft! (I may have to leave the light on tonight and I'm 71 years old!)

    That was well written! Very well written! I’ve gone back to before, just before I discovered this channel! I find myself looking for the stories that you wrote! Which is unlikely because I prefer the old ones in general! Excellent job Tony! This one is as terrifying as I can take, and still be entertaining!

    This was a beautiful story told wonderfully. I did a lot of adventurous training in the Welsh mountains and lived in Wales a couple of times, so this brought back many memories. I think writing in the horror genre is extremely difficult. You've really mastered the trick here of using the atmosphere to create unease, fear and then terror, rather than any actual description of blood and gore. The moments when David is holding the chair in place and listening are really disturbing, but even more so, something you cleverly leave for the listener to ponder on, is the awful death Alison must have suffered. That is the true horror of this story. Thank you so much for posting and creating this channel.

Your description of the drive and feeling lost and the sound effects of the wind, were so good, I felt like I was sitting in that car. • @scathatch
    @scathatch 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    really enjoyed the story and sound effects. Your census adventures sound fascinating. the people who are hidden, or hide themselves away. My mum was welsh and my dad taught himself the Welsh language. we had a little holiday cottage near Rhydymain near Dolgellau.
    Our Cottage was high up the mountain. But not as high as Miss Williams who lived in a cottage called tynythymynydd ( think) definitely ty and mynydd .She was such such a shy little women. She used to walk up and down that mountain and would never accept a lift in our car. Once we visited her little cottage. It was so primitive. With an open fire cooking hearth with a black kettle and a black cooking pot, round, almost like a witches cauldron. No electricity of course, nor water on tap.
    However, the thing that impressed me the most was the front door. It was in two parts. An upper and lower, as happens in old farming cottages. But the gap between the old stone flag floor and the bottom of the front door was big enough for me as 10 year old girl to wriggle through. The snow and winds and gales at the top of that mountain. My god that little Miss Williams and her brother must have been tough! They lived their simple lives there together. Later her brother died, and we visited her when she was living on her own up there. So sweet a person. Such a gentle persona.

    • @ClassicGhost
      @ClassicGhost  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's lovely. I can see it. Probably Tyddyn y Mynydd (tyddyn is a little cottage). Pronounced tuthin (where the th is like the -th- in these clothes). I've just been sitting in a cafe in Maryport surrounded by West Cumbria accents and one of the guys had such a distinctive North Wales accent, Penllyn I'd say. I didn't like to interrupt to ask him, but I wish I had!

    • @scathatch
      @scathatch 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ClassicGhost Yes Tyddyn y Mynydd would be it. Thanks. It was a tiny cottage! What's the difference that makes a North Wales accent so distinctive?

    Oh, that was an unnerving story. I would love to live in a place like that, but not haunted and in a valley with other people. When David was told that it was haunted by a girl who drowned in a well, what I thought would happen shifted. The census makes everyone count, so I think finding people who would otherwise be uncounted was kind of light-heartedly noble.

    Really good story. I was listening to it to try to sleep, but my eyes flew open several times and my heart raced. I was so there with you listening inside the room and in the car. A good scary though. You read it superbly too
