Doesn’t seem they caught Mob’s true essence during that beating. Getting killed doesn’t raise his inner turmoil or explosion meter all that much if at all, but the moment Ritsu is hit it jumps up drastically. Mob doesn’t value himself but he values his family beyond belief. Thought it was pretty straightforward yet powerful storytelling. Also, as always, the animation in this show is GOAT.
In hindsight, it's kinda obvious that Mob and Ritsu weren't gonna fight. Mob avoids hurting people at almost all costs. Needing to be pushed to the brink to even fight back against Teru. Let alone his brother, who is the reason he avoids hurting people to begin with. Not to mention, Ritsu was never even a close match for Mob, so it wouldn't have been a fight that accomplished anything anyway. Ritsu can't even stand up to Teru, who could only barely stand up to Mob.
I think Ritsu wanted to be put down, in a way. He wanted to challenge Mob, stand up to him, have a brother's quarrel, but Mob did that without violence.
I kinda interpreted the scene where Ritau kept asking about how Mob was doing was him shouldering the responsibility of keeping Mob calm at all times, thereby creating that rift between them, where Ritsu can never truly show his own feelings. And now Mob has realised what he was doing
@@zannchristo what Suraj meant was Mob was hiding his thoughts and opinions from Ritsu so because of that Ritsu felt like he couldn’t help him. That’s what Suraj thinks caused they rift. Basically, Suraj thought that Mob was the problem while I think that Ritsu himself is the problem, though Mob is also slightly at fault due to him being slightly dense and not understanding Ritsu early on.

Something subtle thats missable, when Mob dive bombs the guy into the building, right before the debris flies out you can see a split second of a barrier glimmer around the building so the other buildings and people don't get collateral.

I really dislike the translation of the 100% scene. In the original, he says "can you feel it? My animosity?" but they change it to "rage burning in me" in the dub. But animosity and rage are very different emotions. Rage is, okay I'm angry. Animosity is, okay I HATE you. Also in the original he says "this is the first time this has happened", NOT "while I'm still conscious". The dialogue change is veeeery misleading. Cause what he means is, "this is the first time I've felt this kind of hatred for someone that I want to harm them" but what it sounds like in the dub is "this is the first time my powers have exploded while I'm conscious", and as we saw in episode 3, that's just untrue.
It's not only that Mob is introverted, I think it's more that Mob wanted to distance himself and also Ritsu from his powers, which didn't work out for Ritsu, and he ended up wanting to help do that by creating a sterile safe environment for Mob
Mob is definitely stronger than any of them but he lacks experience, his only real training has been from exorcising spirits. He hasn't really trained his psychic powers up to this point in his life because he's been so afraid of them. That's why he "lost," this fight even though he got tricked. Reigen holds him back in that regard but it's not like he's pushover, he just needs guidance on how to use techniques. I guess you could say that Mob is like an untapped fighter who's only real experience has been dealing with school yard bullies while the guy he went up against was a veteran boxer who's average at a professional level but is far more experienced in kicking ass than Mob was. That's one thing that always gets overlooked in anime, actual experience gained from taking an L. Even if the guy was fighting dirty, he still beat Mob because it wasn't a sanctioned fight, it was a street brawl. Anything goes. Regardless of talent, the more experienced fighter will always have the advantage in a street brawl.
Far as we can tell, Mob only gets hurt because he doesnt go all out 100% off the start. When he's at 100, we didnt see literally anything hurt him yet.
