Not this specific design but you can read about and build Kusakabe's Smokeless Sasukenei kiln in his book Japanese Wood-Fired Ceramics with Marc Lancet. Krause Publications. 2005. He will be publishing a new book on smokeless kilns next year or so.

Generally, Kusakabe's designs combine an oversized bourry firebox with a tall smoke stack to ensure thorough combustion.
i dont know the ins and outs of it but the smoke is somehow burned off internally before leaving the chimney
