Organisations need RC because various laws and regulations apply to them and without a system to ensure they keep track and comply they are more likely to fall foul of the requirements.

I'm confused on the difference between this and Risk. Also, is this similar to GRC work? If I wanted to study cyber security, specifically PCI DSS, would it be advisable to study GRC first, then emphasis on PCI DSS specific training?
It's important to first understand the fundamentals of risk management as that is the foundation that will help you understand risk management in the cyber security context.
