Great tribute. Nanci was a beautiful soul. One of my all-time favorite Nanci Griffith songs (Gulf Coast Highway), captures Nanci's passing, so beautifully: "And when she dies she says she'll catch some blackbird's wing And she will fly away to heaven Come some sweet blue bonnet spring"
In 1985, I worked as a volunteer at The Speakeasy musicians cooperative in Greenwich Village, NYC. My job this one Friday night was to set up microphones for the headlining musical act ...someone named Nanci Griffith. As I stood next to her, making sure she was plugged in, the mic was at the right height and angle for her to sing, she was so approachable and grateful for my efforts. As the lights dimmed and the emcee introduced her, I stood on the side in this teeny tiny venue (a middle eastern restaurant by day, a night club by night) looking out at the packed room, not knowing what to expect. I am not a religious man but, as so many have said everywhere else, when she opened her mouth to sing, hers was the voice of an angel. The warmth and passion of her music was equally as stunning. I have been enraptured by Nanci ever since, so thankful for having met her and for the simple, soulful joy her music has brought to my life. And, like so many others, I have been taken aback by how sad I have been since her passing. I have stood in the kitchen, listening to her songs, and cried. I am humbled by her words, her music and her spirit. I miss just knowing she is in the world; there is a hole in it now. @Maura&Pete, thank you for this. I know it is helping me, and others, to grieve, accept and eventually heal. RIP, Ms. Griffith.
At a Nanci-G concert in '89, she and the band did the 1st tune and the band mix was too loud. When she asked the crowd how the sound was, a guy near me called out that the band was too loud, whereupon Nanci dressed him down by saying that she does not go to his work and yell at him. I felt badly for him as she had inquired, but at the end, when she tossed out the customary yellow rose, it flew directly into this guys hands. A miracle that I'm sure Nanci would have appreciated.
I saw the band around that time, and they were pretty loud! :) Then again, she referred to herself as "folk rock" so she made no apologies. An outspoken Texan, to be sure.
I'm a Dublin man and I know Nanci lived here at one time. My big regret is now I didn't get to see her because I was so caught up in life then to get the time for gigs even though I loved her music. Now I'm the same age as Nanci and most nights I listen to her and watch her shows with a couple of beers. And I'm so saddened at her loss, like I lost a real friend who I never got the chance to see and maybe even get to tell her how much I love her music. Loving this tribute.
Mikki3562, I know thousands and thousands of folks feel the way you do. Nanci's songs spoke to us all on such a deep, personal level. I do know that Nanci loved Dublin, and I accompanied her there several times. I know that her spirit resides there for sure...she had a soul connection to your beautiful city, she wrote about it more than once, and she always looked forward to returning. Keep her music in your heart, and she'll never truly be gone. - MK
I just paused the video that I’m watching, Nanci’s remembrance. When I found out she passed up, I cried ( I’m 63). It hurt my heart. I never saw her live and I regret that. During the 1980’s, her music pulled me mentally, and emotionally out of many hard times. Since I heard of her death, I’ve listen to “Love At The Five and Dime “25-30 times. It’s my favorite her songs, well favorite of 20 songs but this is the top of the pyramid for me. I’m so sorry for YOUR loss and pain. Thank you for your Sunday shows which I just discovered. I’ll.be there on Sundays, Okie time. I’ll catch y’all on stage maybe if this plague lifts from the land. MASKS.
What a delightful tribute to Nanci Griffith.. Thank you both. I'm 70 and was at a small folk festival in the Surrey Hills (England) on the 14th August when I heard the sad news that Nanci had passed. She was a very talented and warm hearted lady and will be missed by many. Thanks so much again...Stay safe and well...X
Dear Maura and Pete Such a beautiful tribute you just did. We all know that someday, somehow we will leave this earth dimension. Also we all know that Love is all we take from this incarnation.
A beautiful tribute, thank you. Saw Nanci on her Australian tour back in 2012 and I haven't forgotten that most memorable performance. She is now "waltzing with angels"...LOVE to you Nanci and all your adoring fans
What a wonderful tribute to the great Nanci. I accidentally discovered Nanci only a few months ago on a rebroadcast of an Austin City Limits compilation of Nanci’s songs, and after a lifetime of avoiding any country-ish music, I was smitten and can’t stop listening to her songs. RIP Nanci.
When we were young, back in the early 1960's in our Austin neighborhood, Nanci and I and our friend Sheri would sit in her front yard, Nancy would play her guitar and sing us songs she had made up. One I loved and remember for all these years was one about a young girl who got her toes stuck in the track, a rail road track. I will always remember those days.
I saw The Kennedys, Roseanne Cash & Nanci at the John Stewart Birchmere tribute circa 2001. The 3 ladies danced together on the side of the stage. I was in the second row on the side of the stage sitting behind Chuck McDermott and family.
Oh, Ken! Thank you for reminding me of that! I wish I had a photo of that moment, but without it, you just restored my memory, and that's precious. Thank you. - MK
Consider myself very lucky to have seen Nanci live twice in Belfast Northern Ireland. She faithfully came to Belfast to support the Queens country Music festival. Once in The Limelight on Botanic Avenue and the other strangely in May Street Presbyterian Church in Central Belfast. Never forget them!
What a fantastic show! Thanks for sharing Nanci’s wonderful depth of music. I just know she and John Prine have already been singing some tunes there in Heaven.
I will never stop missing Nancy (and John Prine) and a year later it still hurts. Your voice does Nancy such an honor. This is such a wonderful tribute to a wonderfully talented musician. Thank you.
This was just so wonderful! Thank you. Like most who were lucky enough to hear you two sing, I was a huge Nanci fan and saw her many times live, the first at the Bass Auditorium on the UT Austin campus in the late 1980's and once at the Ryman where people actually danced in the aisles. You aren't strangers either. I met you when you played at a club in Memphis in the late 90's, and Maura, you wore clothes you had bought that day vintage clothes shopping. I loved every single CD I bought from you that night. Thank you for bring back those lovely memories.
Otherlands Coffee House! We loved that place. The door person said, "I wish my brother was here tonight. He would love you guys." We said, "Is he a musician?" She said, "Yes, his name is Alex Chilton..."
Texas State of Mind is the first thing I heard by Nanci, too. I was in a record store in Omaha, and I heard THAT VOICE. I had to buy the album! Made me homesick for Texas.
OMG! Almost 1:00AM having a tough time with all the craziness currently taking place (August 2021). Went to TH-cam to listen to some Nanci songs and her calming voice. Well it didn't take long for the stress to melt away and soon I was able to sleep. I woke up listening to The Kennedys wonderful music and in my mind I began to think of Kate Wolfe whose voice also brings me solace. What are the odds that only one song later you were singing The Great Divide. Just meant to be I suppose. So, Thank You. You gained a new fan and I'm so grateful to have found you at the perfect moment amongst all of the chaos and sadness. You bring me joy. Thank You!
LW, these are tough times for sure. Music heals so much of the pain. We're glad you found us here, where kindred spirits meet every week, and you're always welcome. - MK
Loved her voice and heartfelt song. Only saw her live once at her youngest, introduced and singing along with Bill Stained at a little venue in Minneapolis above Midwest Mountaineering called Coffeehouse Extempore? At first I thought she reminded me of Emilou, but after listening, I thought no, this short, pretty full of energy girl is special, and we're going to hear more from her for sure. And I did as all of you did for many years. I don't like the word cover but her songs and voice will endure for many years to come for listeners and singers/players/troubadors like myself. God bless you Nancy. Thanks Kennedys
Rest in Peace Nanci. Im very fortunate to have seen her in concert several times. One of two artists that are most influential to me and loved. Beat on my guitar all day long to her videos. Thank you for this tribute. Blessings.
Last night I had trouble sleeping and turned on TH-cam. For the last week, I have been listening to a lot of Nanci’s songs and now I found your channel. Wonderful 💕💕💔. rip Nanci. So glad to discover you !
Such a beautiful tribute. I know both Nanci and Kate Wolf are smiling down right now at this amazing collection of songs that you've played. :) Rest in Peace Nanci Griffith.
I could go on and on about what Nanci meant to me. I never met her, but losing her feels like losing an old friend I always meant to call someday. She always seemed to have a sadness about her that came out in her writing but not in her performing. I trust that she knew how loved and appreciated she was, and I hope she had people in her life that loved her. Thanks for everything, Nanci! Thank you kindly and fare thee well!
You know, Robert, I don't think she really did know just how loved she was. All week, I've been wishing that she could see all the outpouring of love for her... maybe she can. What a great loss. - MK
@@TheKennedys Thank you so much for your reply. I cannot express what it means to me. I felt a connection with her music like no other, and this week I've been reading comments saying exactly what I've been feeling. She had a rare gift, and it is one that she will continue to have because her music is still with us. I've been working on writing a song in tribute to her that I hope would make her proud. Like I said I could go on and on, and I probably shouldn't as I only knew her through her music. My heart goes out to those like you who called her friend.
A very nice tribute to Nanci. She made the rest of the US realize that TX wasn't a horrible place (sorry, but not sorry). LOL. And thank you for rendering Nanci's song in her spirit.
Her insight into the lives of working people in Texas and across the South place her in league with Eudora Welty and that class of great Southern writers.
Somehow I have been a huge fan of both Nanci and the Kennedys for decades, but never knew till yesterday that these two played with her regularly. So sad at the loss of her, but it's healing to watch this.
Thank you so much for this wonderful concert. Such a beautiful tribute... the music, the narrative, the pictures. I cried through most of it. "And when she dies she says she’ll catch some blackbird’s wing, and she will fly away to heaven". Fly away, Nancy. Rest in peace, sweet soul.
I never personally met Nanci, but in away I did. Back in the early 80s I was a teenager watching Austin City Limits. I saw Nanci and was soooooo touched by her voice and her powerful lyrics that I never stopped listening. I’ve seen her twice in concert, both in Portland Oregon back in the 90s. I swear to god every single day I’m humming one of her songs!! Very very sad that she’s not with us anymore but we can still listen to her amazing music. Rest In Peace my friend!!
Michael, that's the first time I ever saw Nanci as well, on the TV back in the 80s, Austin City Limits. It was that experience that made me decide to move to Austin when I got out of college. She changed so many lives.
Nanci & her music saved my life, over & over. It’s hard to overstate her impact on my soul, my mind, my heart, my social consciousness, and my fragile heart. Thank you 🙏🏻
Maura and Pete: Thank You for such a loving, genuine, heartfelt tribute. Nanci brightened my days through her sheer talent, backed by uncompromised integrity.
She did the same for us. We miss her everyday, but are so grateful that she put such a wonderful body of music out into the world...what a great legacy!
I'm sorry for your loss. But ironically, contra the last line in No Expectations, her music isn't gone. Your heart-felt performance has passed it on. There's a story about Chuang Tzu that always helps me. His wife just died. When his friend visits, he finds him banging on a tub and singing. Why aren't you sad, he asks. Chuang Tzu said he was sad at first. But then he realized that if his wife had never been born, he would never have known her. And that everything that comes into being passes out of being. So he stopped being sad and began to sing. Thank you for singing through your pain and allowing us to hear her beautiful music.
Yes hit hard hearing Nanci Griffith died, but it must’ve been such a blow to those who really knew her and were mentored by her and loved her close up, so my deepest sympathies to you both. What a beautiful tribute. Her voice was part of one of the most important moments of my life.
These two are wonderful. Love that Maura is her own singer, but echoes Nanci. Her partner Pete's also excellent! Superb musicians both of them, and this is a heartfelt and lovely tribute.
Shared the Hole In The Wall stage with Nance & Eric back in the late '70's. She was a gentle soul, but with an edge. Now she & Eric are in Valhalla, in the same good company we were in back then.
Thank you Pete and Maura for this heart-felt celebration of Ms Griffith's life work, and lifting up in remembrance her generous, kind and oh so talented soul. Most of all for allowing her to shine through the stories and music and to connect us to that beautiful spirit that has now gone home. She truly knew that the purpose in life was to do as much good as one could while here, and that she did do. Do know that you have done right by her, with grace as you dedicated this week to her, and we are most fortunate for your very own gifts and talents. Do take care, and stay safe as you begin tour once again during these difficult months ahead. With much gratitude!
Absolutely beautiful, fitting. On Sunday 08/15, I was looking for Nanci Griffith tour dates, unaware, and I immediately went into a very acute depression knowing I would never see her again. I since have been looking for and listening every video I can find. RIP Nanci
Stu, we're lucky that there are so many live videos of Nanci. We played with her so many times, and I recall standing to her right in the early days of the Blue Moon Orchestra, back when we were a 9-piece band, and then to her left from 2010 onward when it was just four of us on stage, but always thinking how lucky I was to be able to sing with Nanci, thinking, "I need to always remember this moment." - MK
Thanks for putting this together and in such a timely time. We always learn more about folks when they cross over. So glad you were the lucky ones to know her so well.
I can’t thank you enough for doing this tribute to Nanci. We’re 73 and were shocked to find that she’d died last week! I took hearing her for granted! And now she was GONE! It left me shaken! I didn’t know you guys (Kennedys) but to hear of your shared times, and Mona’s ability to emulate Nanci’s voice! And to hear & see your love for her! It was a sweet salve for me! I wouldn’t want to box you ‘in’ to making your life a reprise of Nanci’s, but any sops you can throw to us in the future would sure be appreciated. You do great renditions of her work! I discovered Nanci in my discovery of Bluegrass, Alison Krauss, and Emmilou Harris. Then Nanci! She had similar roots, yet could be SO NANCI! And she hooked me the first time I heard heard her. And to see her cherubic, enthusiastic/humorous, munchkin face: She seemed to smile with so much charm! And take us on such tours of her Texas life! Thank you so much for helping me tonight, with my mourning! I love you guys already!
Yes, JD...it's heartbreaking for all of us who knew her or were fans of her music. We're all so blessed that she spent her life writing and recording her songs so that they'll always be here with us. - MK
I was blessed to first hear Nanci early in my life and her music helped me understand and express many of the deep feelings I have experienced over the years. Your tribute is such a gift, thank you.
I saw you guys with Nanci at the Narrows Center in Fall River, MA. It was a fabulous show and your love for one another was clearly evident. I first heard Nanci on The Today Show, of all places, LOL! It was in the mid 80s, I think. She played "It's A Hard Life Wherever You Go." My appreciation of her work was instantaneous and I've been a big fan ever since. RIP, Nanci, and thank you, Maura and Pete, for this lovely tribute.
Bryan, that was a good gig, and in such an interesting building. I remember loading my gear up that long staircase. i made a couple trips before realizing there was a lift! Nanci was a class act, and I'm glad you got to see her playing live. - MK
Thank You Kennedy, a fitting tribute to the music of Nanci. It got me thinking, that through her music(I must have been a 20s something, I live in the UK), I discovered so many artists Nanci might mention, or by myself as the years went on. Creating a spark in others, what a wonderful thing to be able to do. I of course didn't know her, but Nanci always came across in interviews and from the stage, as a decent and good person. I am sure her music will live on for many generations to come, she will be sorely missed.
Thank you - truly appreciated. Only saw one performance live - The Chieftains - Jones Beach. I also loved her accent - quite special and unlike anyone.
This is a fitting tribute: low key, unpretentious and beautiful, rather like Nanci. Together you capture something of the essence of Nanci’s subtle music.
I loved Nanci's music and by association, her voice and character. My Nanci tribute starts tonight. Love you dearly, tho you never knew me, PG. Thanks for her tunes, Kennedys.
I first heard Nanci in 2003 when she sang with Don McLean on a live album recorded in Austin. Together they sang "And I love you so" and "Raining in my Heart". After that I was hooked and bought many of her albums. Thank for your tribute and stories that brought her back to life.
This is exactly what I needed to get over this feeling of utter tragedy, almost one year after Nanci passed. Because Nanci's still here as long as this music is played.
So sorry to hear that Nanci had passed. Her songs will always remind me of my late wife, Athena, with whom I attended many live shows in London during the late 80s and the 90s. Thanks for a beautiful tribute to one of life’s beautiful souls.
Great tribute! So sad that Nanci has left us. So many great concerts I saw over the years. I remember talking with you Pete outside the Corn Exchange in Cambridge England, you were walking down the street with your Taylor guitar still around your neck. It had a hole in side where you had removed the preamp. Did you also play the Cambridge Folk Festival in 92 with her? Pat was on drums that day. Absolutely fabulous set with Can’t Help But Wonder Where I’m Bound as the encore. Happy times and happy memories. I hope she’s at the bar with Kate Wolf, John Prine and, of course, Mary Margaret. We owe it to Nanci Griffith to keep the light of her music burning very brightly beyond these woods.
Yes, I played Cambridge Folk with her that year. We did a lot of playing in England around that time, including Hammersmith and, next trip, the Albert Hall, but I always loved playing Cambridge. Nanci gave me that Taylor...
Thank you for putting this out here. It couldn't have been easy to share your grief but so fitting that it be done through the tunes that are part of us all. Nanci was a special gift to this world. I have lost quite a few people that I've loved over the years and I'll always count the blessing of having those folks in my life as long as I live. If there's a musical heaven, Nanci is up there singing with Handsome Johnny, Kate Wolf, Steve Goodman and my late wife Nancy who shared Nanci Griffith with me when we first met back in 1986. Bless them all.
Very nice tribute to a fine singer song writer. I was so surprised to hear she had died. My wife and I have spent many hours listening to her music, dancing to her music, singing along with her music. She was a gift.
Thank you. Between losing JP last yr and Nanci the other day, musical voices who have meant a great deal to me over the years have gone silent. I was so happy that I could enjoy your tribute to, and remembrance of, Nanci. I was a little teary until Across the Great Divide. When you lost it, Maura, so did I. And now, I have saved this video to come to, time and again, to remind me how special our friendships can truly be. Thank you. Be well.
Brian, I tried to hold it together, but I never expected, realistically, that I could. But we knew we were among kindred spirits, and we knew and know how heartbreaking Nanci's death is for all of us. - MK
OMG !!! The Kennedy's saw this !!!!! WOW !! DEEPLY flattered, and so grateful for you guys acknowledging this !!!!!! To be printed and put in my journal ! ( To be printed off, and placed in my journal, in which I wrote thousands of entries-- literally while Nanci sang the sound-track of my family's life.....)
I just came across this today as I was looking at Nanci's videos. What a bonus and what a beautiful tribute. Hope to see you when you next come over to the UK or Ireland. Thanks for sharing your music and your hearts. Take care.
Thanks so much for this beautiful tribute. My wife and I saw your show with Nanci Griffith at the Lyric Theatre in Blacksburg, Va., not too many years ago. That crossed a concert off the very top of my bucket list. Other Voices, Other Rooms may be my all-time favorite album (and I'm also a Linda Ronstadt fan, so that is saying something). I'm deeply appreciative of the ways you have filled my Sunday afternoons with music and consolation, especially during this strange time. One of my friends who works in health care said today, "It's exhausting being human right now." Thank you for making it a little less exhausting.
I wish I could have met her, what a personality she had. I quit listening to radio in late 79. I moved to Nashville in98 and I never new Nancy Griffith,Guy Clark, and Gilian Welsh all lived there. What a missed chance. Thank you both.
I just discovered this tribute this afternoon. I wish I could have watched it live with everyone, but I am still mourning Nanci, so this was most welcome. Thank you. A few years ago I was in an airport hotel near Warsaw, Poland, at the end of a vacation. We were waiting for the airport shuttle and only half listening to the low background music in the place. But I heard something so familiar -- it was Nanci singing "Lone Star State of Mind." And just like that, I was transported home, without even boarding a plane. Blessings to you, Nanci.
It has been a very long summer of loss indeed. I had always had hope that we'd emerge from the pandemic and find all our friends and family still standing. My Dad was a big fan of Nanci's. He was so thrilled when I got to go on tour with her back in '93. I still recall his reaction when I told him over the phone, "Dad...I got the gig!" His reply was a joyful repeat, "Oh! You GOT the GIG!!" Nanci touched so many people in so many ways. -MK
Her songs were the background to raising my kids. My daughter spent the day listening to her songs. Thank You Nancy ! May you be soaring with the Angels and regular folk who have passed before.
Hi, Maura and Pete, I had the great pleasure of seeing you guys with Nancy in The Watergate Theatre, in Kilkenny City, Ireland, (early 200s ?) Wow,! Bought your Album that night, too. Always hoped you'd come back! Nanci did, twice more, she seemed to be unwell, now I know why. Loved her all my life since my late Teens, now in my 70s. This is a lovely Tribute to your friend, thank you so much! I've got a photo of you and me and Jane, my friend, and Pat MacInerney also, which I will post on Utube or Facebook when I get 🏡 to Kilkenny. God Bless you two, keep safe n well. Ps: am remembering "Buddy Holly's Grave"! Bye!
You've got a very good memory, Mary (re: the Buddy Holly's grave story.) We've always loved all our time in Ireland, and truly hope to get back there someday soon. - MK
I missed this when it was live and only learned about it and YOU from Twitter…..THAT was absolutely wonderful! I’m still crying listening to her songs. Thank you for this….I saw her in the 90s in BTV. Her music holds a place in my heart forever and always. And I’m a new fan of yours Maura and Pete ♥️
Thank you for this celebration 🎉She has been instrumental the past couple of decades or more. I have all her albums and her songs and voice soothe my soul. 🙏
@@TheKennedys Your talent & tribute to Nanci bring me and so many to your own unique inspirational legacy to all. Our humilities prove our soulfulness. So very grateful 🙏 Wishing continued success ❤️

I wish I could like this a million times. The most perfect selection of songs, performed beautifully. You did Nanci proud. 💗
Samesies Nanci is irreplaceable
Lovely performance and tribute. Great singing and playing. Saw Nanci 3 times in Glasgow, Scotland. All the good ones seem to be going.
Were you the fellow in Glasgow in '91 who kept shouting "Let's have lunch, Nanci!" in between songs? We all laughed at that, especially Nanci.
@@gretsch5129 Not me!
Thank you kindly, as Nanci would say.

What a beautiful tribute to a beautiful lady ❤. I had the pleasure of meeting her in Galway once. I am so so sorry the world has lost Nanci. 💔
Beautiful tribute to Nanci by those so close to her for so many years. A lot of courage to keep it together. My eyes are filled with tears.

You're very fortunate to have seen Nanci perform live, Andrew. Great memories.
...my favorite artist.. I had to play along with you to celebrate Nancy. Met her at the Eagle Theater in Sacramento... and fell in love
What a fantastic show! Thanks for sharing Nanci’s wonderful depth of music. I just know she and John Prine have already been singing some tunes there in Heaven.
Outdoor Band Shell...Oh My!...MIne was in Birmingham...picnic under a majestic oak tree. Such a voice...such a soul...such a heart. Thanks for this.
Beautiful tribute for Nanci. She will be missed by many who loved her. Her spirit lives on in her wonderful music and all who hear it.
- MK
From a distance of a few thousand miles, a long king way from there, thank you,
Loved her voice and heartfelt song.
Wow, Jimmy, you're extremely lucky to have seen Nanci back in the early days. Thank goodness her body of music will always be with us.
Thank you so much for a beautiful tribute to Nanci. Thank you.
Rest in Peace Nanci. Im very fortunate to have seen her in concert several times. One of two artists that are most influential to me and loved. Beat on my guitar all day long to her videos. Thank you for this tribute. Blessings.
Beautiful collection of Nanci's songs. She was a lovely soul. Thanks for posting.
Oh my lord, Pete and Maura, it's Thursday and I really needed this! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
Last night I had trouble sleeping and turned on TH-cam. For the last week, I have been listening to a lot of Nanci’s songs and now I found your channel. Wonderful 💕💕💔. rip Nanci. So glad to discover you !
Thank you, Christine. It's such sad circumstances under which to meet. The music gets us all through the most difficult times.
@@TheKennedys yes I believe she can see and feel the outpouring of pure love!
What a wonderful tribute to one of our best singer-songwriters.
A very nice tribute to Nanci. She made the rest of the US realize that TX wasn't a horrible place (sorry, but not sorry). LOL. And thank you for rendering Nanci's song in her spirit.
More true today than ever.
Her insight into the lives of working people in Texas and across the South place her in league with Eudora Welty and that class of great Southern writers.
RIP Nanci we'l miss you.
@@TheKennedys love you guys!!!!!
Chuang Tzu could always distill it down to that unbreakable diamond point...
So wonderful! ... a thousand thanks!
Shared the Hole In The Wall stage with Nance & Eric back in the late '70's. She was a gentle soul, but with an edge. Now she & Eric are in Valhalla, in the same good company we were in back then.
Like the girl in the song "El Paso" she was "wild like the west Texas wind".
Thank you, Sharon. Yes, Nanci left such a rich legacy behind, not only of her music, but of her good works. May she continue to inspire us all. - MK
Thank you for helping us through our grief. Beautiful stories and songs.
Bill, we're glad the music and stories helped. It sure helped us to gather with the tribe this way to remember Nanci.
Sounding beautiful Pete and Maura!
Thank you fellow Strangeling!
Do you folks ever tour the frigid northern clime-Wisconsin to be specific? I'd love to see you in concert.
A splendid tribute to Nanci , many thanks .
So sad to hear about Nanci Griffith. Lovely and talented. She will be missed by a lot of people. Thanks for this tribute.
When I first saw Nanci, at Club Passim in Haavaad Square (either 1980 or'81) , I KNEW she was going places.
Boy, did she!
Thank you - truly appreciated. Only saw one performance live - The Chieftains - Jones Beach. I also loved her accent - quite special and unlike anyone.
This is beautiful. She's singing through you.
This is a fitting tribute: low key, unpretentious and beautiful, rather like Nanci. Together you capture something of the essence of Nanci’s subtle music.
I loved Nanci's music and by association, her voice and character.
My Nanci tribute starts tonight.
Love you dearly, tho you never knew me,
PG.
Thanks for her tunes, Kennedys.
Did you mean NG?
@@anneberkeley7411 the comment is from Pat Gibsen= PG!!!!!!!
I feel her everywhere.
...especially when the music is played.
🥀 Goodbye dear friend 🥀
So sorry to hear that Nanci had passed. Her songs will always remind me of my late wife, Athena, with whom I attended many live shows in London during the late 80s and the 90s. Thanks for a beautiful tribute to one of life’s beautiful souls.
So sad. I don't know much about Nanci: my 1st exposure to her was hearing "Outbound Plane." Thanks for sharing!
Yes...so sad, Tamdsms. Thanks for listening.
@@gretsch5129 Great times! Still hard to believe Nanci has passed away.
What a great tribute to a wonderful woman
What a tribute to Nancy...they lived it some with her...🙏 enjoying the storys
Sweet ending Ya'll 🙏🤙✌ thanks for all the stories an good time ya'll had with Nancy...she is missed
She sure is.
- MK
I was with Nanci on a number of occasions when John Prime was there, and they were like a mischievous brother and sister. Now they are back together.
Thanks for keeping the beauty going, Nanci would love it.
Honored to have had her in Tarrytown and at a John Hall benefit.
Loving this tribute--all the way from St. Mary's Bay in Newfoundland, Canada. We will remember Nanci's music forever.......
Pete, I can’t imagine how it was for you to have played with my two absolutely favorite folk music icons, Kate and Nanci!
I could say "inspiring, life-changing" but I think that the music expresses it better.
What a great tribute to a lovely talented soul. Thanks to you both from Manchester, England.
OMG,,,,,,tears just keep rollin'
I can't thank you enough for this.....so fantastic.
I just came across this today as I was looking at Nanci's videos. What a bonus and what a beautiful tribute. Hope to see you when you next come over to the UK or Ireland. Thanks for sharing your music and your hearts. Take care.
We do miss touring in the UK and Ireland...it's been a long time. Hoping to change that!
What an excellent sincere tribute. Well done.
Great tribute. Thank you. "We'll have memories for company".
I'm broken (in the best possible way) as well, Thank you.
I wish I could have met her, what a personality she had. I quit listening to radio in late 79. I moved to Nashville in98 and I never new Nancy Griffith,Guy Clark, and Gilian Welsh all lived there. What a missed chance. Thank you both.
But what a musical legacy she left behind, Larry. It will always be there, as will her spirit and her influence.
Blessings to you, Nanci.

thank you ,Nancy was beloved by so many of her fans.
Thank you. It has been a Summer of loss in so many ways. Thank you so much.
The more I listen to and learn about Nanci I feel like I've lost a good friend rather than just an artist whose music I enjoyed
Thank You for posting this.....we lost a beautiful soul in this world. Sorry for your loss..... Nanci heard you in Heaven and is smiling.
Saw you guys in Brunswick NC a few years ago. Please come back to NC!
Thank you thank you thank you! It was lovely!❤
Oh, thank you, Ron.
- MK
The poem and the photos!! Thank you
I missed this when it was live and only learned about it and YOU from Twitter…..THAT was absolutely wonderful!
Selina, thank goodness for all those recordings. Nanci's spirit is so present when we put them on. - MK
