    Probably the best walk through of a synth I've ever watched, and hilarious that after 20 minutes of explanation, you say you're just not going to use it! I really enjoyed the explanation of the square and saw wave, never heard that before. And your explanation of the VCO sync, I had to listen to it a couple times, but it's always very illuminating to hear someone explain a sound that truly understands the physics of what's going on!

    That little Boards of Canada diddle at the beginning was a nice flex

    You can do the split on the midi keyboard and have two plugin instances, so it's not a big deal.

      Yes, it can be done but the beauty was to save it all as a patch.

    Thanks man! I waited for someone to do this...Hopefully, their prophet will get the same updated treatment...but for now they're doing well. cheers.

    Was looking forward to follow along and learn from the video until it turned out it was a private unique patch // I wasn't going to leave a comment but I thought you know for future videos that can help your thumbs up and who's learning if you use a stock patch so people can follow along and see how it's affecting but thanks for caring and sharing

    Thank you for this great video. I can't find the web site link -- I'd love to see how to make some classic sounds using this soft synth.

    Yes, but what's different about version 4? There are lots of tutorials on TH-cam explaining the Jup8V already. How does version 4 differ from earlier versions is what I want to know.

    Nice video. The TAL J-8 has split and layer and you can route each panel to separate outputs in your DAW. I wonder why Arturia decided to remove one of the most important functions of the Jupiter...?

      Their feeling is that you will use Analog Lab to make a dual preset and save it as a patch.

    • @MRFThorne
      @MRFThorne 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The sound engine of version 4 is much better, but I still retained V3 from the V Collection - it has the original factory patches of the Jupiter 8 (which I can't find on V4), the split-keyboard mode, and the Galaxy feature was really interesting. In a certain way, they are almost two different software synths.

    Here's my update on the missing dual/split mode with Jup 8v4, not a big deal because the Jup 8 v4 sounds so good, it doesn't really matter in the end. You can use Analog V and do the same thing making your own dual/split mode made preset without the heavy CPU drain as found in Jup 8 v3. I can't believe how good the Jup 8 v4 sounds...Beefy Analog sounding, Rich Timbre...Amazing. Thanks Arturia for the $199 update...Great deal...

    • @Digiphex
      @Digiphex  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's quite good. I prefer the previous one because all my patches are made in it and I have patches like Northern Plastics which is a dual patch. And I never noticed a CPU hit.

    • @jessepearson5579
      @jessepearson5579 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Digiphex When I updated, Arturia let's you keep your Jup 8 v3 because it's a different engine , so I have no issues concerning my old presets. I still have Analog lab 4 along with the newer Analog lab 5, So, not a problem.

    • @jessepearson5579
      @jessepearson5579 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @aniss Yes, I was of the same opinion until I updated to V4 and the sound blew me away. Arturia lets you keep your old versions when updating. The Tal J-8 has the split double function and is good, but it still doesn't have the richness in timbre and tone as the Arturia V4. Arturia nails this in V4 above all else, that's what really matters in the end for a lot of us.

      Arturia gives a free demo version so get it and see how it sounds with your own equipment and genre. Coupled with my video, you should have no problem using it without a manual.

      @@Digiphex what do you think of the TaL -J8?

    • @Digiphex
      @Digiphex  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mebeasensei Personally I like it better than the Arturia and it is more authentic with the dual layer like the real J8 and the Service Center panel in it you can really make it sound broken (in a Boards of Canada or Aphex way). It has far less effects than the Arturia though, but I get that from Ableton.

      20:50 if you select from this list VCA Env 2 Amt. But if you have Ableton, you can insert a MIDI effect called Velocity in front of this VST and control it externally.
