Hi! I’d love a short vid on coaching for how best to train in the snow, ice, wet….all of nature this time of year. Many trails combo all of the above with gravel starts. Struggle with putting on spikes after gravel. Would love guidance on best practices with snow trails! Thank you for all the updated content!
@@jmontfoco right on, lots of snow coming here in Jackson. So love this topic. Our snow and climate is very dry and cold, therefore I don't typically need spikes or anything more than a gokd deep lugged shoe. But stay tuned and thanks for the idea.
@ thanks! That would be awesome. I’m in Fort Collins….similar but we alternate regularly between snow and melt. Any guidance appreciated. Love your channel!
Yes, sprained ankle. Those are all fantastic drills! Has made a big difference for me. My feet are strong enough to wear the Xero shoes and I can lift up my heals, one at a time and stand on the forefoot (one leg) without the poles for almost 20 seconds. Now all I need is more mental confidence to take the downhill faster. It is slowly happening.
Love this. Keep practicing the downhill skills. One thing that helps is to do downhill repeats over the same section of technical trail. Start easy and as you get more confident, speed it up a little. Opposite of this, do some faster steep ROAD downhills to help you relax and trust yourself.
Great video! And yes on rehab stuff! =) P.S. I prefer to run in the mornings on an empty stomach (but mandatory coffee! =p) How much progress am I missing out on? Should I try to eat anyway?
Going to give this a try. For the last couple of months or so I can't run more than a mile without getting bad calf pump (very tight calves). This happened after six months of no leg issues at all. My mileage has gone from 50'ish miles a week to 15-20 as I've thought I needed to give my body some rest. Just took a full nine days off with no running after one really bad calf pump issue during a run. First mile back was fine then my calves started getting tight again so I walked and had to fully stop to wait for them to go back to normal. Then I was able to run again (only 4 miles total). I'm hoping this warm up will help. Running one mile at a time is depressing and I'm hoping to start building mileage up again.
@@hibiru6868 i would look at my calf tightness video. You might be keeping your heel elevated off the ground placing a lot of stress on the calves. Or lots of knee flexion putting stress on calves, that has accumulated thru time and why you have trouble now.
I would like to know how you recovered fast from that ankle sprain. 👍I rolled mine while running a trail race last year, and I believe I didn't return to running until 4 weeks later.
I think Inov8 will be releasing a zero drop Mudtalon at some point, might be one to look at. Also not sure if the VJ Spark is still available, that is a good one.
@@DreadPirateRgrs i make my videos how I like to and for my core base. And thanks for the motivation to keep making them my way, i know i am on the right path. Now you know not to waste your time with future videos. Thanks for the positive vibes and wish you running success.
@DreadPirateRgrs like I said, then don't watch. Not my fault you feel bad for wasting your time. I enjoying making videos as a creative outlet, and appreciate the base that enjoys the entire video, which there are many. I appreciate your wanting to learn and improve your running, but Sorry, this channel is not for you.

@@joweb1320 everyone's HR is different and age doesn't apply in relationship to comparison. Comparison is a slippery slope in most things in life. For example, one runner could run that climb at 15 min pace and one at 10 min pace both with the same avg HR. Where one is at threshold and one is at zone 2. The key is understanding your own HR zones and the purpose of the day for you. Therefore maybe the better question is, what zone was this for you Eric? And I would say, zone 2.
@joweb1320 ha! Thanks for working with me. Also, gender, body/heart size, experience, ability, fitness levels, VO2max, etc all have more influence on HR than age.

Thank you so much for all your great content. I would love a video about rehab/getting back from Achillies Tendonitis :)
Be sure to see the Remedies section in Born To Run 2 for this.
Nasty sprain! Good to see you’re up and running 👍🏻

Thanks for a new episode! One question though, is there also some specific cool down you are using after training?
Would love to hear the rehab process!!
Great videos!!!! Thanks a lot! 🎉
What do you think about Newton shoes ?

Unfortunately never liked Newton. Too heavy and clunky, and not very flexible or natural for me.

@@BornToRunCoach Thanks!! I'll check them out. Are the VJ Sparks good for long distance? I need them for a 55mile event in December!
@gregmj4553 if you need more of a shoe for the distance, the Merrell Long Sky 2 is a wonderful shoe with meaty lugs.
@@BornToRunCoach Thanks for these recommendations!
👍Sprained ankle. It took about 1,5 years to heal and still not as good as it was before that.
