My Lawnmower suddenly smoking And what came to life was the oil and filter....so I check the oil it looked like it could use a tiny bit more but that wasn't the case it still was smoking so I figured see if filter ned cleaning and OMG 😱 it's horrible...sooooooo Oooooh my goodness ur a savior for this video bless's your heart I'm sooo excited to try this ..I literally thought the same thing but you made it so much more easier with full details directions on how to go about cleaning my lawn mower filter yayyyy cause it's super dirty and oil and gas looks like it got all in it. Looks like new! My old lawnboy just had a foam filter, when cleaned with soap and water it actually did look like new. Never bought a filter in 40 years. Got rid of it to get a modern "more powerful" mower. Nowhere near as good as the old Lawnboy.
Thanks for the reinforcement. I've washed one before. I bought a broken down mower and replacing stuff to see if it'll crank. I'll put some Dawn on that filter now. Appreciate it 👍🏼
For less then 10, you can replace, every year change the oil, filter and plug, every 3-5 get a new blade or have the original sharpened.,it will run forever.
Are you sure the filter goes in that way? Installed with the filter screen on the inside and the paper filaments on the outside? Please verify and get back. I’ve been installing it backwards if I’m wrong. TY
I don't think you oil the paper filters as it blocks them and starves the engine of air. The sponge filters can be oiled lightly to trap extra fine dirt.
The engine doesn't give a shit if the filter is new or just cleaned. As long as it keeps debris out, it's good. edit: I mean, unless your engine has asthma like I do, it should be okay.

Don't disagree but if you need to mow now vs ordering and waiting on a part it works.

I have a Toro and, yes, the paper faces outward.
if you look at the paper you can see which wayit will collect the debris.
I'm surprised you were able to fit it in any other way than the way it's supposed to go.

New filters are relatively inexpensive. Don't be a cheapskate! Do what's best for the engine!
