1968 Ford 3000 Diesel vintage tractor restoration summary: This tractor was bought new in 1969 by my Papa "Elmer". I restored it for my Uncle John, who took possession of it in late November and brought it to me on the day he picked it up. The tractor was running and drivable when it arrived. I performed all the necessary pre-tear down tests, then started my full tear down. The overall exterior was not in too bad of shape, but it was pretty rough on the inside - especially the ring and pinion. The engine, fuel system and power steering on this tractor was pretty complicated so I had to refer to the manuals quite often. I went completely through this tractor; everything was either replaced, rebuilt or refurbished. I'm lucky to work part-time in the auto body shop where my dad works as a body man, so I have access to body men and a painter that helped me with my restorations. I get to do the painting and body work myself, with the help of my dad, which I enjoy. The full restoration took 379 hours to complete.
