I prefer a satin finish but I'll also accept matte. My skin is dry but I need a formula that doesn't emphasize t-zone oil. I like thick consistency. It should last a minimum of 12 hours and not oxidize. I do have a foundation brush but I prefer to use a beauty blender. Would be great if the coverage was buildable. Thanks!

I just commented this on an old video of yours where you were having a particularly rough migraine day but I wanted you to see it here too. Just so you know ❤ My mom suffers from a rare type of paraplegic migraines which render her unconscious and then when she regains consciousness she is completely paralyzed until the migraine subsides with the effects lasting up to 2 weeks (vocal cords always the last to come back). The biggest thing she struggles with is being a burden and I know you get told this and know it to be true, but sometimes it's nice to hear; your struggles are not a burden to those that care about you. While an internet following isn't the most involved and definitely a more one sided relationship you still have a lot of people that care about you. The fact that you still put out content and maintain a full time job is remarkable. No one would ever fault you for taking a few personal health days even for 15 days of foundation. Ashlynne Banks I totally agree. My daughter suffers from migraine headaches also and has headaches daily. She is so much like Taylor and has such a strong work ethic which is great. But I just think that if they need to take a break they should & everyone will be supportive or at least should be (my daughter has her step mom as a manager so she's afraid to call off even with the worst of migraines(I hate that).But we are all here for you Taylor. It's neither piling not pilling - it's called pooling, and it's when the foundation slides off the flatter areas of the skin and gathers in little pools in the pores. This means the foundation adheres better to itself than to the skin underneath. I have normal/dry, sensitive skin, and the KGD foundation is one of my favourites, BUT it's because I need little coverage - I wouldn't advice building this one up, as it then slides around more. Also: I feel I REALLY need to set the foundation with powder, of it will slide around during the day. If I set it, it lasts much better on me, but again: I use only 1 pump for my entire face My reasons for liking it: - no adverse skin reactions - very natural coverage - comfortable on my skin - hides flakiness, unlike most other foundations - one of the rare foundations that match my very yellow skin perfectly - lasts well on me (I used it for my wedding, and I still looked good after 12 hours), but if you prefer things like MAC Pro-Longwear, Revelon Colorstay, Lancome Teint Idole Ultra 24 H, Guerlain Parfure Gold, Shiseido Sun Protection Liquid foundation or Dior Forever, this cannot really compare to those
Just fyi Gen is pronounced with a hard G, like in golf. It looked so beautiful when first applied! I wonder if it was interacting with the primer strangely considering it's a water-based foundation.

This is the only foundation I use! I absolutely adore it! I even have a backup bottle and my main bottle is very close to done. The color is a perfect match. I am the same shade as Taylaa and it blends out so evenly. The coverage looks natural and has a plump fresh look to it that I don't find in my other BB creams. It builds great on areas I have more dark spots. I love this stuff and a bottle lasts me over a year because I don't wear foundation daily. I just use a little sometimes if i need more coverage over my tinted sunblock. If you have sensitive, reactive, pale skin and want a very natural looking foundation then you should give this a try!

I love how you actual zoom in so we can see how the foundations wear on your skin! Most people don't get close enough, so it still looks flawless even when it's patchy. I love watching you and love how you keep it real!
I have similar skin and some foundations do that to me too. I think it's just not meant for oily skin, so that's why it's doing it in the t-zone. Other foundations have done it and no matter what primer i use it still does that. Basically it's sinking into every pore and creating a mound on that pore. So the foundation is like a magnet to your pores and it seperates and finds its way to a pore and sits on top.

I have been using this foundation for the past 5 years and it frigging changed my life. Holy shit. It is just perfection. Yeah, it's 62$, but you know what? I use it EVERY DAY, and the whole bottle lasts A YEAR! It's just so wonderful. If you do not like the "cakey" heavy foundation, this is for you. I love it because it covers all my imperfections and hyper pigmentation spots, but it still LOOKS like my real skin! If I'm having a bad skin day, I just add another layer and poof it's gone. It's a satin finish with a slight dewy shimmer. It's just liquid beauty. Koh Gen Do is a Japanese company that they market to Japanese actresses. Actresses use this on their movies!! That's how perfect it has to be! I just can't say anything bad about this foundation, if you like foundation that doesn't look like make up= holy grail found! I have never had the allergic reaction problem or "pilling" problem that she had... NEVER had the little white spots. Just because it happened to her, doesn't mean it will happen to you. I would never use any other foundation ever again and I pray that KGD doesn't stop making it cuz it is perfect.

I have pale skin so I guess the lightest shade? I don’t want to feel it or look like I’m wearing anything, do you still recommend this? Rhonda Bower yes I would get the lightest shade. I have very pale skin and wear the shade 012, but in the winter when I’m paler, I have to mix in some pure white foundation. I use manic panic liquid white for that. There is a huge formulation difference between the aqua foundation and their maifanshi moisture foundation. I tried the moisture foundation first, it was a gel texture (which I did not like), very light coverage (did not cover dark spots or acne) and it kind of stayed wet, like it never fully dried to give that moist look. I did not like it. I prefer traditional liquid foundation that covers imperfections and dries so that I can apply powder in top. I still use this foundation to this day, and it still lasts me about 9 months to a year. It is the best one I’ve ever tried. 👍

I totally know what those little white piling up dots are from. a lot of Korean and Japanese foundation have this stuff in it that is meant to absorb the oil your skin produces. it's meant to act kinda like a powder. it tends to completely backfire on people who have oily skin. I've had this happen to me before when I was super sweaty after applying Korean powder and I saw it happen to Edward Avila a few times in his videos before he figured out what ingredient it was that was doing it. after I post this, I'll Google it to find the name of the thing I'm talking about.
When Taylor just did the pro matte review she talked about this, am I right? I thought she mentioned that foundation having an ingredient like that in it as well. Maybe that is why it pilled up on my face when I wore it...but I have normal to dry skin...🤔

I was just in Tokyo a couple days ago and this foundation is also expensive out there. it doesn't have a big range of shades bc for the most part all the makeup brands out there don't have a big range. They use their foundation lighter than their shade. Also, most women out there don't use or need high coverage.
Edita Hvedica yea, a lot of their makeup is not very inexpensive. Even the ones you find in drugstores. Most of the prices ranged from 800 ¥ - 3000¥ which is like $8 -30 USD, and that's just their drugstore makeup prices.
I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE your videos. You aren't fake and overly bubbly and I appreciate that more than you know. I only wish you wouldn't use lights that blur everything out. I come to your channel BECAUSE of your flaws. Seeing how confident you are, acne and all, gives me the confidence to not be ashamed of my acne scarring, discoloration, cystic acne, etc. Please embrace your flaws and do away with the harsh lighting.
I've also noticed the sponge has applied better. Maybe for good measure you should switch which side you use the sponge on that way you can know for sure. Loved the video, excited for this foundation and so happy you are reviewing dewy, light weight/medium coverage etc. ❤️❤️

I use it in 113 and it works nicely on me. I do have normal to dry skin with no acne. No break outs for me and lasts me 10 hrs perfectly IF I am not under the sun all day. I have tried Koh gen do skincare and it made me breakout. I also wear the white base from them and it helps my foundation set better. Again, like you say, it works differently for everybody.
I have been using this foundation for a few months now and I love it. It's very natural looking. I have never gotten the white bumps from it. I do have oily skin but no ache. I do notice, if u have oily skin, the foundation lasts longer it u use a powder over it and a setting spray. I use kat von d contour powder kit and urban decay setting spray. Maybe try those next time to see if prevents the oil build up on your face.
Like someone already mentioned maybe isnt compatible with your primer or powder i got acne prone n this is my holy grail but i use 213 got green undertones blends flawlessly into my skin but i dont use a primer with it i could swear helps with my acne once i take it off my skin looks radiant n my pores smaller n if i set it i use maybelline better skin powder n it lasted till the next day (yep slept with makeup on lol) didnt break up my whole skin looked even still amazing btw if u wanna give it a try again buy a sample set at the koh gen do website to test the 213 i wonder if that will work better for u as too pink or too yellow foundations dont work for u i tell u this cuz we r the same skin tone but u seem to have a hard time with the undertones of foundations hope that helps :)
This foundation is one of my absolute favorites, but I have dry skin and not much to cover. I put this on side by side with the L'Oreal Pro Glow foundation and they looked nearly identical! Pro Glow is another favorite of mine.

I kind of think this could be the best one of the 15 foundations even with those tiny white dots on your T-zone. It still looks so natural and beautiful on your skin after 10 hours wearing time. And the shade seems nice too.
I just love this foundation, I think it's one of the best out there. So sad I'm not from the US so there's no easy way for me to get my hands onto this product. Never had the problem Taylor showed in the video, in fact this foundation never goes cakey on me and never holds on to any dry patch. All in all I think this foundation is worth its price xo

You should really try double wear light! It's my fav for myself and clients, people tend to think of it as like a double wear with less coverage but actually the formula is completely different. I don't like double wear at all. It has a demi matte finish leaning on the dewy side but seems to last a long time on oily skin but also doesn't cling to dry patches or emphasize dryness in my more dry/dehydrated clients. I'd say it's light to medium coverage but can be built up to full medium.
I was wondering why my insomnia was a little worse than usual...hadn't watched today's foundation video. Torn between wanting 15 days of foundation to be every day and worried about overworking your face and wanting to be sure a foundation won't decide to suddenly end your youtube days. Love ya!
The "botanicals" in a lot of products cause an allergic reaction with my sensitive skin. it usually looks like that. my brother gets that from certain sunblocks
I don't know why Koh Gen Do doesn't offer deeper shades for the Aqua foundation. They do for their Moisture Foundation (there are 12 shades for that one and at least three of the shades are in the deeper range). That price point is unattractive anyway, so I don't need to consider purchasing it. The Koh Gen Do formula sounds a bit like the Japonesque Luminous Foundation I am currently trying out. The look is pretty, but even with a second layer the coverage is in the low-medium range. I like it, but I have to be o.k. with blemishes showing through, or apply concealer over any significant blemishes. I hope that the pilling is a foundation-primer type mismatch and not an allergic response. If you are allergic I hope that you can return the product. Thanks for another great review Taylor!

it could be a water based thing. Mac face and body does this to me and I get the impression it's my face sucking up the water and leaving little dots of pigment behind.

Perhaps it's pulling because it's a water based foundation and maybe it's not compatible with your primer?
Emily Tavarez that primer is water based and contains very minimal light weight silicones so should be compatible

You know what would be awesome to see? A series on pro brand foundations. Kryolan, Ben Nye, RCMA, Graftobian, that sort of thing.
This is the only foundation I use! I absolutely adore it! I even have a backup bottle and my main bottle is very close to done. The color is a perfect match. I am the same shade as Taylaa and it blends out so evenly. The coverage looks natural and has a plump fresh look to it that I don't find in my other BB creams. It builds great on areas I have more dark spots. I love this stuff and a bottle lasts me over a year because I don't wear foundation daily. I just use a little sometimes if i need more coverage over my tinted sunblock. If you have sensitive, reactive, pale skin and want a very natural looking foundation then you should give this a try!

I have similar skin and some foundations do that to me too. I think it's just not meant for oily skin, so that's why it's doing it in the t-zone. Other foundations have done it and no matter what primer i use it still does that. Basically it's sinking into every pore and creating a mound on that pore. So the foundation is like a magnet to your pores and it seperates and finds its way to a pore and sits on top.

I have been using this foundation for the past 5 years and it frigging changed my life. Holy shit. It is just perfection. Yeah, it's 62$, but you know what? I use it EVERY DAY, and the whole bottle lasts A YEAR! It's just so wonderful. If you do not like the "cakey" heavy foundation, this is for you. I love it because it covers all my imperfections and hyper pigmentation spots, but it still LOOKS like my real skin! If I'm having a bad skin day, I just add another layer and poof it's gone. It's a satin finish with a slight dewy shimmer. It's just liquid beauty. Koh Gen Do is a Japanese company that they market to Japanese actresses. Actresses use this on their movies!! That's how perfect it has to be! I just can't say anything bad about this foundation, if you like foundation that doesn't look like make up= holy grail found! I have never had the allergic reaction problem or "pilling" problem that she had... NEVER had the little white spots. Just because it happened to her, doesn't mean it will happen to you. I would never use any other foundation ever again and I pray that KGD doesn't stop making it cuz it is perfect.

I have pale skin so I guess the lightest shade? I don’t want to feel it or look like I’m wearing anything, do you still recommend this? Rhonda Bower yes I would get the lightest shade. I have very pale skin and wear the shade 012, but in the winter when I’m paler, I have to mix in some pure white foundation. I use manic panic liquid white for that. There is a huge formulation difference between the aqua foundation and their maifanshi moisture foundation. I tried the moisture foundation first, it was a gel texture (which I did not like), very light coverage (did not cover dark spots or acne) and it kind of stayed wet, like it never fully dried to give that moist look. I did not like it. I prefer traditional liquid foundation that covers imperfections and dries so that I can apply powder in top. I still use this foundation to this day, and it still lasts me about 9 months to a year. It is the best one I’ve ever tried. 👍

Rhonda Bower no problem! Again, it is really expensive, but you can find it on Macy’s, Nordstrom, Sephora, and I think they might even still sell the samples from kohgendo.com. I emailed them and asked for shade samples and they sent some to me in the mail. 👍
I totally know what those little white piling up dots are from. a lot of Korean and Japanese foundation have this stuff in it that is meant to absorb the oil your skin produces. it's meant to act kinda like a powder. it tends to completely backfire on people who have oily skin. I've had this happen to me before when I was super sweaty after applying Korean powder and I saw it happen to Edward Avila a few times in his videos before he figured out what ingredient it was that was doing it. after I post this, I'll Google it to find the name of the thing I'm talking about.

When Taylor just did the pro matte review she talked about this, am I right? I thought she mentioned that foundation having an ingredient like that in it as well. Maybe that is why it pilled up on my face when I wore it...but I have normal to dry skin...🤔

I was just in Tokyo a couple days ago and this foundation is also expensive out there. it doesn't have a big range of shades bc for the most part all the makeup brands out there don't have a big range. They use their foundation lighter than their shade. Also, most women out there don't use or need high coverage.

Edita Hvedica yea, a lot of their makeup is not very inexpensive. Even the ones you find in drugstores. Most of the prices ranged from 800 ¥ - 3000¥ which is like $8 -30 USD, and that's just their drugstore makeup prices.
I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE your videos. You aren't fake and overly bubbly and I appreciate that more than you know. I only wish you wouldn't use lights that blur everything out. I come to your channel BECAUSE of your flaws. Seeing how confident you are, acne and all, gives me the confidence to not be ashamed of my acne scarring, discoloration, cystic acne, etc. Please embrace your flaws and do away with the harsh lighting.
I've also noticed the sponge has applied better. Maybe for good measure you should switch which side you use the sponge on that way you can know for sure. Loved the video, excited for this foundation and so happy you are reviewing dewy, light weight/medium coverage etc. ❤️❤️

I use it in 113 and it works nicely on me. I do have normal to dry skin with no acne. No break outs for me and lasts me 10 hrs perfectly IF I am not under the sun all day. I have tried Koh gen do skincare and it made me breakout. I also wear the white base from them and it helps my foundation set better. Again, like you say, it works differently for everybody.
I have been using this foundation for a few months now and I love it. It's very natural looking. I have never gotten the white bumps from it. I do have oily skin but no ache. I do notice, if u have oily skin, the foundation lasts longer it u use a powder over it and a setting spray. I use kat von d contour powder kit and urban decay setting spray. Maybe try those next time to see if prevents the oil build up on your face.
Loved this! I have dry skin and the KGD works wonders for me but I can def see how it would break down easily on oily skin!
Like someone already mentioned maybe isnt compatible with your primer or powder i got acne prone n this is my holy grail but i use 213 got green undertones blends flawlessly into my skin but i dont use a primer with it i could swear helps with my acne once i take it off my skin looks radiant n my pores smaller n if i set it i use maybelline better skin powder n it lasted till the next day (yep slept with makeup on lol) didnt break up my whole skin looked even still amazing btw if u wanna give it a try again buy a sample set at the koh gen do website to test the 213 i wonder if that will work better for u as too pink or too yellow foundations dont work for u i tell u this cuz we r the same skin tone but u seem to have a hard time with the undertones of foundations hope that helps :)

This foundation is one of my absolute favorites, but I have dry skin and not much to cover. I put this on side by side with the L'Oreal Pro Glow foundation and they looked nearly identical! Pro Glow is another favorite of mine.

I kind of think this could be the best one of the 15 foundations even with those tiny white dots on your T-zone. It still looks so natural and beautiful on your skin after 10 hours wearing time. And the shade seems nice too.

I just love this foundation, I think it's one of the best out there. So sad I'm not from the US so there's no easy way for me to get my hands onto this product. Never had the problem Taylor showed in the video, in fact this foundation never goes cakey on me and never holds on to any dry patch. All in all I think this foundation is worth its price xo

You should really try double wear light! It's my fav for myself and clients, people tend to think of it as like a double wear with less coverage but actually the formula is completely different. I don't like double wear at all.
It has a demi matte finish leaning on the dewy side but seems to last a long time on oily skin but also doesn't cling to dry patches or emphasize dryness in my more dry/dehydrated clients. I'd say it's light to medium coverage but can be built up to full medium.
I was wondering why my insomnia was a little worse than usual...hadn't watched today's foundation video. Torn between wanting 15 days of foundation to be every day and worried about overworking your face and wanting to be sure a foundation won't decide to suddenly end your youtube days. Love ya!
The "botanicals" in a lot of products cause an allergic reaction with my sensitive skin. it usually looks like that. my brother gets that from certain sunblocks
I don't know why Koh Gen Do doesn't offer deeper shades for the Aqua foundation. They do for their Moisture Foundation (there are 12 shades for that one and at least three of the shades are in the deeper range). That price point is unattractive anyway, so I don't need to consider purchasing it.
The Koh Gen Do formula sounds a bit like the Japonesque Luminous Foundation I am currently trying out. The look is pretty, but even with a second layer the coverage is in the low-medium range. I like it, but I have to be o.k. with blemishes showing through, or apply concealer over any significant blemishes.
I hope that the pilling is a foundation-primer type mismatch and not an allergic response. If you are allergic I hope that you can return the product.
