In this video, we’re going to talk about some incredible MCT oil health benefits.
    What is MCT oil?
MCT means medium-chain triglycerides. MCT oil is a unique oil that will not just turn into ketones very rapidly, but it will also bypass certain digestive processes. You don’t need bile from the gallbladder to help you digest MCT oil. It ultimately has the ability to spike ketones.
    MCT oil side effects:
    • When you first start consuming MCT oil, it could give you digestive troubles. Always start small at the beginning (1/2 tsp.) and consume more over time (up to 1 Tbsp).
    • It may also have mild laxative effects.
    • It may slow down weight loss. But, it is great to help you as you begin intermittent fasting.
    • It is a refined product-it doesn’t have a lot of nutrients. Eat healthy, along with taking MCT oil.
    MCT oil benefits:
    1. Better brain function and cognition
    2. Increased energy
    3. Better lipid profile
    4. Lowered blood sugar
    5. Reduced hunger
    6. Decreased lactate
    7. Fewer epileptic episodes
    8. Better cardiovascular function
    9. Decreases symptoms of autism
    10. Antimicrobial properties
    11. Anti-inflammatory properties
    12. Antioxidant properties
    13. Better mood
    14. Increased absorption of fat-soluble vitamins
    15. Easier transition into ketosis

My wa1c was at 21, I was constantly blacking out, sleeping 18hrs a day, crazy stuff. went to the er and had to stay in the hospital for a week. They prescribed metformin and insulin, potassium ktabs and vitamin d 10000 iu twice a week. I stayed on meds for 1 year, and quit then quit them and just did a low carb diet as a lifestyle. I’m now 29 and no issues and can eat sugar whenever I want and it doesn’t do much to my blood sugar.

Kube Dog. I never had a weight problem. I went on the keto diet a year ago for my anxiety, depression, kidney stones and being prediabetic. Having 2 parents with type 2 diabetes, I did not want to become diabetic. I lost over 20 lbs anyhow but I managed to get off all of my prescription drugs for my depression & anxiety as well as detox my kidneys of kidney stones that were causing me frequent kidney infections. Now I struggle with maintaining my weight because I feel better when my ketones are high but being fat adapted, I cannot keep weight on. I am 52 years old, 5’4” 113 lbs. I am losing lean muscle mass. Any ideas? Tried purely carnivore for one week to try and gain weight, but I lost 2 lbs. when I add healthy carbs, my ketones go down and my mood changes drastically 😢

@Big Smoke I'm 57. I plan to do this forever! It's not a diet but a lifestyle. It's satisfying. Stopped me from craving sugar. Dr. Berg and his wife Karen have some amazing and delicious recipes. There's also some great keto cookbooks out there. I'm on a budget, so I just keep it simple. I make their keto pancakes regularly with almond flour. I haven't felt this good since I was in my 30's. As I age, brain health is s priority. Alzheimer's is growing. It happens slowly. It's preventable.
I really hope you give it a try. Easy to follow short videos that you can build on and go back to for reference.

    • @ceilconstante7813
      @ceilconstante7813 5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

@Big Smoke there's so much wrong information out there regarding nutrition. Remember in the 90's everything was "Fat Free"? Sugar was the culprit. This is also when Lipator became popular.
Healthy Keto is totally different than what some promote as a Keto diet. I'm not super scientific about it. I do animal or fish protein about the size of my fist. 2-5 Tablespoons of healthy fat:. Avacado, grass fed butter, avacado oil, raw coconut oil. And try to get 7-10 cups of vegetables in. I use a bullet blender and make green drinks with celery, dandoline greens, celantro, basil, fresh oregano leaves, cucumber, Romain lettuce and lemon. Depending what I have. I do a lot of Cruciferous vegetables. Some meals simple sauteed cabbage with chicken or beef and celantro.
I'm Italian and definitely prefer those flavors but I rarely eat nightshade vegetables. I've learned to make pasta with Zucchini using a Spiralizer. I can't see how this would be unhealthy long term.
I also use Docs trace mineral drops.

@Big Smoke it would be difficult to do it in India! So many delicious dishes. And rice dishes! Although, a few people who follow Dr. Berg from India have commented that they don't get sick from wheat. In the USA, they use Glyphosate (Roundup) on wheat.
Indians use a lot of healthy spices that are good for digestion but too much rice. And Basmati rice is delicious! Especially with warm ghee! Also fresh flat breads so delicious!
One of my favorite dishes is Palak paneer Sak. I've never been to India but whenever I go out to eat, my preference is Indjan food! I also think Indian relishes, picked and chutneys so delicious!
I used to live in Mexico and plan one day to go back but also in tiny rural towns many things keto aren't available. But lots of tropical fruits, beans, rice and meat. But when I lived there I felt healthier. It was much less stressful.

I use MCT oil in my whey isolate protein shake with grass fed butter and it gives me tons of energy for hours and hours. I get the purely inspired brand since its only $13 when on sale and barely anyone buys it from my local Shoprite so they are always in stock. I also use cold brewed green tea instead of plain water. This combination makes a great breakfast shake for me.

I kept hearing all these wonderful things about MCT Oil but when I consumed a tablespoon in my morning coffee, all it did was make me feel jittery. It gave me this strange energy, as if I'd had an energy drink with far too much sugar. Then one day, I decided to add heavy cream to my coffee and mct oil concoction. And wow! What a game changer! I have no idea why it needs the additional fat from the cream but if I have it with just black coffee, it gives me a strange energy.

I am on a low carb diet (not keto). You explained that MCT take a fast track to the liver where they are converted to ketones that are then circulated around the body providing energy to the cells. a) What if I ate some carbs so that there was an insulin spike, if I then drank a bullet proof coffee with MCT oil, would some of the ketones be stored as fat in the cells?b) Is it therefore only a good idea to consume MCT oil on a keto diet or at the beginning of a fast?c) Depending on the type of fast, bullet proof coffee could be consumed. If it just contains MCT, then (if I understand correctly) the digestive system is by-passed. However, butter and cream are not MCTs, presumably they are LCTs, so the digestive system would have to deal with them. So adding MCT only would not break a fast in terms of allowing the digestive system to rest and repair itself but if you add butter or cream it would reactivate the digestive system and negate some of the benefits of fasting. Is that correct?

Adding more fat to my diet, even though it’s healthy fats like avocados and almonds and walnuts and olive oil made me gain weight. So I’m hesitant to add MCT oil to my coffee. Ok just received my cholesterol test. Have been doing keto since end of Aug beginning Sept 2019. We have been taking collagen & MCT Oil every morning.
    2019 vs 02/20 current date:
    Nov: 2019
    Chol 313, Trig 78, HDL 79, VLDL 16, LDL 218,
    T.chol/HDL Ratio: 4.0
    Feb. 2020
    Chol 324, Trig 84, HDL 95,
    VLDL 16, LDL 212
    T.chol/HDL Ratio: 3.4
I won't complain as I was stressing out waiting for results.
Chol & Trig went up a tad but all else went the right direction. Now trying to lower the trig all advise welcomed. But all in all...I am both relieved & happy with these numbers as I was concerned since doing Keto.

I never saw a rise of blood ketones even though I got adjusted to MCT oil and could easily consume 6 tablespoons at a time with no digestive issues. The highest reading I ever saw was 0.6 blood ketones like the MCT oil was not converting at all to blood ketones to raise my total number. The only time I could see a rise in blood ketones is when taking expensive brands of exogenous ketones, not ketones produced within the body

I think theres a difference. Mct oil stands for medium chain tryglicerides. They turn quickly into ketones which is helpful if your following a keto diet, unlike other oils.

The best thing that I have come across for killing and preventing the flu is turmeric tea. Get good quality organic turmeric. 1/2 tsp turmeric, 1/4 tsp ginger, little bit of pepper, and cinnamon. Boil this with a large mug of water and some milk or cream. You can also add coconut oil if you wish. Before I started drinking this tea, I got sick all the time, but now I don't usually ever get sick. Not sure if that's what you are after but that's my two cents.

After using MTC oil in my coffee everyday, I had blood work done and my bad cholesterol was up and my overall was 196. My doctor immediately wanted to put me on a statin and I said no thank you. I explained I have changed to a keto lifestyle and use coconut oil and MCT oil. She said that coconut oil really is not good for you. Now I'm confused 🤔she wants to repeat my blood work in six months. Should I stop the MCT oil?

People giving advice we should look at their lives and see if they know what they’re talking about meaning doctors just a little word of advice

Do you get the same benefits if one cook in coconut oil?
Because we use coconut oil for generations but we have diabetic and cardiac issues.
