  • Old train tracks are more and more used for cyclists. I am staying a few days at the Horsens Fjord in Denmark, to explore the area. On the first day I cycle over the Bryrupbanestien, with the coolest cycling bridge: Den Genfundne Bro, The Uncovered Bridge. The other days I go island hopping: Alrø, Hjarn and Endelave.

Mooie reportage, mooie muziek eronder. Zoek nog leuke routes in Denemarken om te fietsen. De eerste dag lijkt me erg mooi.

Interesting fact about the old railroad bridge; after about 90 years covered in sand and out of sight, it was only needed to replace 200 kilos of iron. Otherwise the bridge was in fine condition. A high pressure washing and a sand blasting and it was ready for painting.

@@Fietsvlogger Fejø north of Lolland - my favorite, maby becasuse my grand parents had an Apple plantation there when i was a kid. Its still a very nice place with fruits and wine growing (all organic) - was rewarded 'danish village of the year 3 years in a row. Northwest Lolland is also great and full of organic farming incl an estate that produces a world famous Cherry Wine (Frederiksdal) and Knutenborg Safari park which is gigantic and animals roam free. South West Lolland has the amazing Isthmus 'Albuen' and Nakskov Fjord with numerous small islands.

"Ø" simply means "island" in Danish, so an island typically have its island status as part of it´s name like, Hjarnø, Vejlø, Bogø etc. So if you find a map with anything ending on "Ø" then check if there are a bridge or a ferry as well, because it nearly every time will be an island.

Well, that is not always the case.... Some towns also ends with an ø... Nexø, Sorø,, Glumsø, Bogensø, Erritsø etc.

@@jf2500 One does not rule out the other. I only emphasised that an island "TYPICALLY" ends with an "Ø" as it means island.

Well. that is true, but I just point out that danish can be rather confusing.. There is also a town called Å, even that means creek in danish.

Amazing. I don't mean to add a negative to your wonderful video, but the bridge appearance now, and the story, makes me want to see the dismantling of the dam and the restoration process that came before this. Not meant to slight your story here though!

Ha, I could have added some old photos actually (like I did in my second last video, about the Flood of 1953). Next to the bridge you can find some information panels with old photos from that time, pretty impressive. I think I made some pictures of it... 🤔 Thanks for the advice. Next time!

It's a bit late, but if you search for "Den genfundne bro" by Horsens Lokal TV there are 3 videos covering most of the excavation process.

Very nice film, beautiful landscapes and images. But the music didn't sound very Danish, or do they fiddle too? No idea what Danish music sounds like, they never won the Song Festival, I think. And a few 'indigenous' blondes or elderly with rambling teeth and rustic comments would be nice, too.

The Scandinavian countries have folk music as well actually (so had The Netherlands). Sounds like Irish trad (so does the Dutch folk); they have the same origin. The song that you hear when watching the drone footage of the bridge is called Rural Scandinavia. And the tune at the end....? A real traditional Scandinavian tune!
