Wellcome to us the caravan people 😂 we’ve only had ours 9 months and been in it twice like you we had two test goes this year my husband retires so we intend to go away every month can’t wait 😝 love it so much. Defo having your caravan serviced is vary important. Enjoy yourself, we have a gray hound so we have a 4 birth fixed bed love her so much ❤❤
Yes we are definitely caravan people now 😂 caravan has all been serviced now and for its age it was in very good condition. I do need to replace is a burner on the fridge if we want to use it on gas we went away Easter bank holiday and really enjoyed it😊
Agree with @888andy, they work better on gas, but if it still doesn't cool on gas, it might be worth taking it out and turning it upside down then trying it again. If it still doesn't work, get a caravan gas engineer to have a look at it, may only need a burner.
It'll be the heating element on hookup that has failed or on gas it will probably just need a clean out of the burner assembly and a new jet fitting as they can be easily enlarged poking the very small hole out. The element will be about £35 and the jet about £15 the rest will be labour which is whatever they charge for about 2-3hrs work as the fridge has to be removed and repaired within the caravan and a gas test carried out. I always serviced the gas side even if the element was the problem as the fridge was out anyway. As most people don't often use the fridge on gas the flue and burner etc. were usually blocked up with dust and debris including spiders webs. Only once in15yrs did I have to change the whole cooling unit and that still worked out half the price of a new fridge. All is not lost!, it should come well within your estimate of £500.
This is very helpful thank you. we did turn it to gas and ran it for 5mins but it just seem that there was a funny smell like fumes in the van and then we got paranoid so turn it off think our best bet is to get it checked by professional as I don’t no what I am looking at and I am no gas engine lol
@@CaravanTrails You're welcome, I don't tour myself but over the years as a mobile technician saw the enjoyment and freedom it brings. It's a bit like having a second home but mobile, and there's always something cropping up at home. Don't let the niggles and foibles of caravanning put you off. Once your sorted the road beckons. Good luck for the future
Enjoyed the tour round Henlow lakes, been past the site many times and thought about staying there, looks very nice. Does the fridge work on electric, i found mine wasn't working one time, i had knocked the switch off on socket under the cooker. I'm just going through the process of putting new tyres on my caravan, they are 5 years old. Nice you can use the caravan without going off site.
Henlow is really nice especially in the summer well worth a stay, doing a video in a few weeks about the fridge but you have pretty much hit The nail on the head 🫢 doing the tyres this weekend along with our new tow car reveal 🙂
Good tour, thanks. Have you tried running your fridge on gas? Mine is not brilliant on electric, especially during the winter but works perfect on gas. Might be worth a try. 🤞
Thank you. We did try and run it on gas but there seemed to be a funny smell not sure if it’s just because it hasn’t been used in a while we only left it on a few minutes as we got paranoid if it was fumes or something lol

I think that’s what I am planning on doing as I don’t really no what I am doing when it comes to caravan fridges lol

Is the electric running too fridge by plug socket
Yes it is 😂 being a newbie I thought they were hard wired in I didn’t realise until I was looking for a dustpan and brush
We buy our LPG from there, it’s our local!
It’s a really nice camp site we love it in the summer and for it to be on our doorstep it’s somewhere we can go last minute

Look for a caravan breaker on the Internet you might find a cheap fridge that way they might even give you a months guarantee
Hi yeah that is going to be the plan it’s booked in for a service so going to see what they say 1st 🤞
Is the fridge still switched on to the car battery?
No I did check that it’s on 230v
