This series just makes sense , everything they did the changes they made to the book is actually better. moving the time up to 1910, making it more about African Americans in New Orleans is more interesting to me..these changes are good and having lestat still be this older European vampire. Nothing feels forced and keeping the rich story source material.. Good job for once Hollywood & amc. TV series are so much better then movies we it comes to books.

Show came out so great 👍 I love the liberties they took. Definitely help the show for the better.

Idk if you know by now, cuz idk if you've looked up stuff about the source material, but there's actually a 90s movie adaptation of the "interview with the vampire" novel. It has brad Pitt as Louie and Tom cruise as lestat. Also Kiersten dunst in her first role when she was a child. Also, idk if you've ever seen 'queen of the dammed" the movie with Aaliyah in it where she plays a vampire but thats also an Anne rice adaptation and the main character of it is actually lestat.anne rice wrote basically a whole vampire universe in multiple novels called "the vampire Chronicles" that she started in 1976 and I think the latest novel is from 2018.

I agree 100% Since you've not read the books, I want to mention the deep cuts into other books, even other series taking place in the same universe, the word for word quotes, it was absolutely produced with the readers in mind and it shows so deeply, I'm so excited to see more, I think Anne would be proud and her son must be over the moon, can't wait to see how the series progresses.

When i first heard of new adaptation - i thought it will be horrible. Or at least "not good enought" after 1994 movie. But now when i saw trailers i m starting to love this series more and more.
Its different from the book and from the movie - but it looks cool

Thanks for your review! As a long time fan, it's great to hear opinions from people who are just finding the material. I love the show because I can see the spirit from the books (while aware of the changes that were made, yes), and it gives me so much hope for the show to see that someone who's not familiar can also get into it and enjoy it as much as I know I will. Oct 2 can't come soon enough!

I'm a long term fan, too. I read interview as a kid when it first came out. I've read all the books and all of her other works. I'm super excited. The first episode was good - different, but that's ok. I can't wait to see if this series goes beyond the first book in subsequent seasons. I know Louis was white in the book, but I really love both actors playing Louis and Lestat. To me they give them feeling of the characters.

Just saw the first two fans, I too read all the books as a young kid, in high school, late 90's... and I've read them all.. I'm okay with everything, I'm all for it!

Idk everything I seen in the show so far isn't in the book, so 🤷 and the Novels Anne Rice made is better then the TV series, so it kinda pisssd me off they screwed up the timeline

As someone who also isn't familiar with Anne Rice's books, or the 1994 film, this was good to watch! And it was interesting to watch another Black person's take on it too (which I've not seen so far), particularly on the depiction of Louis/New Orleans

    • @BigGoldBelt

For far New Orleans depiction is looking solid! It’s much more they can get into so we will see

Literelly only the names are the same. Everything else is different. But hey... watch it as it's own thing, don't think about the source material and it's okay.
I love the books... I hope they get the tone right. Cuz Anne Rices universe is quite well flushed out compared to other Vampire stories. And it has a a nice digestable but interesting philosophical aspect to to it which makes the books very good.

I don't think it's that different essence wise
The story the writers are telling is basically the same , it's about
      Lois and Lestats messy relationship.
Lois and Lestats personalities and characters are very accurate to the book even with Lois being black , the actor is Lois.
I hope Armand is done well the 1994 movie didn't get him right.

    • @moodmaker2796

I did watch the episode. And my feeling is, that it's different enough to have me needing a while until I can get rid of the idea of who they were in the books. Even slight changes in timeline and occurances are in my view mostly unnecessary. So unless the core of the show isn't what I liked about the books, I will have a hard time watching it.
The first episode alone is not enough for me to make any call on it.
And Io, why so aggressive instantly? :)

The 1994 movie is also different from Anne Rices book in parts too , so there has never been a fully accurate adaption.
The tv series works which I think is the most important thing , it's great television on its own.

I'm so grateful that this is a very different from the movie (watered down Disney version of the novel). The movie was beautiful to watch but lacked the essence and spirit of the novels .

As a *Anne Rice* Fan and As Someone who *ACTUALLY* 📚 read the books, I'm just gonna say it here Louis de pointe du lac, in the Novels is actually a *White* Plantation owner in New Orleans, and got changed into a Vampire in 1791 and Lestat is 20 something Vampire, but if you haven't yet you can check out the *1994* movie *interview with the Vampire* is the best to few this story, AMC didn't even follow the directions in the Anne Rice Novels are, 😒 No Disrespect to the actors, but Claudia is 5 in the Novels. *FunFact* Woke Crap, so just my *Opinion*

😂😂😂😂😂 why not write new books why change something that doesn't need to be changed 😂😂😂people in the comments are funny ......... Look what they have done to lord of the rings anyway there are children starving in the world so couldn't give to fucks really ,but people should be writing there own books instead of hijacking another person's work

    • @gilsurf8
      @gilsurf8 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

The original LOTR trilogy is not book accurate either. Elves in Helms Deep (that were treated as red shirts)? This is a TV series not the novel. The movie wasn't book accurate (by a long shot), you should know that. Even Anne Rice herself was willing to write a script that changes Louis into a female. She wanted Cher to play Louis. Just help feed the starving children, you clearly don't know what you are talking about.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
