Wat Phra Sri Rattana Satsadaram, also known as Wat Phra Kaew or the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, is one of the most important temples in Thailand. It is located within the Grand Palace complex in Bangkok. The temple houses the Emerald Buddha, a highly revered statue of Buddha carved from a single block of jade.
Wat Phra Kaew is open daily from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM. The temple complex features stunning Thai architecture, including the main chapel (ubosot), the golden chedi, and the Royal Pantheon. The walls of the temple are adorned with intricate murals depicting the Ramakien, the Thai version of the Ramayana epic.
Visitors are required to dress respectfully. Men should wear shirts with sleeves and long pants, while women should wear long skirts or pants and tops with sleeves. This ensures that the sacred atmosphere of the temple is maintained.
