C'mon did anyone really think Jaguar was going to overtake Porsche? You can't compare the handling, steering feel, balance. Jaguar is a fantastic car but the Porsche is a real race car.
Totally agree, I've loved Jags ever since my Dad bought, but you just can't expect a company like Jaguar to make a car better than a car made by a company that makes the staple in sports cars
Its an S. The R has double the power. Super Beetles at any price are not REMOTELY competive with Jaguar. Its utter shitbox VW vs the most storied racing history and the finest cars of all time.
Great review and I agree, I test drove the new C7 corvette, F-type (V6 and V8), and the Boxster S. The C7 was just fast, interior is better compared to the previous model but still can't compare to the Jag and Porsche. The Jag looks great and sound great but it's noisy and it rides rough, unlike the Boxster. The Boxster S is overall the best one, it's not the fastest, not the best looking (subjective), but it wins in everything else. I ended up buying the Boxster S and have no regrets.
UALHVY I have not driven the Boxster GTS but I would assume it's going to be a great car. PTV, PASM, Sports exhaust are all included in the GTS, they are all options that makes the Boxster sporty. Good luck with yours.
Nice film and review !!! I think perhaps as a better price comparison it might've been better to use the Boxster GTS aginst the middle version of the Jag F-Type. But then again it would've won by a bigger marging then ?? !!
The Jag used launch control to get it's 4.8 0-100 kph, matched by the Boxster S in this test. HOWEVER, the Boxster in this test did not have/use launch control. As you can see from the dash the Boxster does not have the Sports Chrono dial - so no launch control. With launch control the Boxster would have recorded a 4.2/4.3 0-100 kph time. Tests like these really ought to compare like with like.
I bought the BoxterS for all the reasons stated in this review but also because the interior is far more attractive than the Jag's. The other issue with the Jag is that it has almost no storage capacity. Check out the trunk and you will immediately start thinking "I can't put much in here at all, including being limited on groceries.
The Boxster is one of the hottest cars on the planet? Lol. Nobody but a complete Porsche fanboy would say something like that. And I'm tired of reviewers all saying how Boxsters (and Caymans) are sooo much cheaper than the F-Type. The starting price of Porsches mean nothing, the only way you're getting one close to the base price is ordering it directly from the factory. The local dealership here doesn't have a Boxster S for less than $75k, and a several run well into the mid-$80k range. The typical, on-the-lot Jaguar F-Type S is $86-88k. The Jag will run you a bit more in general, but the price difference is not that staggering, and if you buy the Porsche, well, you end up with a Porsche (insert Price is Right you just lost sound).
I love my new F-Type S Jag. The reporter forgot to mention that the Jag has a Eco mode which saves fuel and the engine turns off at the traffic lights.
I currently own the Cayman S with manual. I've recently driving the Jaguar V6S. The Porsche is like a high precision tool that screams at high revs. The high revving nature of the engine gives it an instant racy throttle response, but at the same time you constantly feel like you have to ring it's neck. I actually enjoyed driving the Jaguar, I felt it had more pantomime than the Porsche. It's twitchy nature made you respect it on the road, especially in the wet.
I would recommend to get the Boxster S (with PSE) if you prefer a light car with awesome handling over a heavy car with good handling and the Jag if you don't push the car where the weight impacts the experience (twisties, mountain roads, track). Both are great cars...
David Ferrari I'd say the Porsche outperforms the Jag by miles, given it's pricerange. furthermore, the looks of the Jag, I disagree, it's ugly in my opinion. Put the Porsche and Jag on a race track and see who wins :-) (In the end, i'm about performance)
JUdging by the other comments here, it's clear that if all you're interested is how the car looks, then buy the Jag. If however, you've understood what a "sports" car is, then buy the Porsche. As the video explains, it's the real driver's car.
Uh, no. Watch more comparisons. Lots of 'real' drivers prefer the F-Type to Boxsters, Caymans, and 911s. Pretty much the only people who prefer the Porsches seem to be fanboys, and this guy is no different. Boxster one of the two 'hottest' cars on the planet? lol.
I don't know what the prices are like in Australia, but right now there are 15 new Boxster S's on ebay. 7 of those are around $84k or higher, and the absolute cheapest one is $72k. The local Jaguar dealership here has 6 F-Type S's that range from $86-88k. The Jag is more but not THAT much more. The only way you're getting a cheap, new Boxster is to order it from the factory.
Can’t beat the sound and looks of the F-type, and… with a boxter you’re always going to be the wannabee who couldn’t afford a 911. My money is on the jag (literally getting one next week)
In order for you to have the audacity to comment and compare... you have to own one. I Have a Boxter S and it's a little insulting to compare it with a jag... Having said that, you all can go back to your Isuzu Geo and stfu. Thanks.
lashakira23 I agree the boxster looks good but it just looks like every other Porsche, I and other people like the jaguar because it’s something new. Not saying the Porsche is bad just different. From my own personal experience (my dad has a f-pace with the v6) the jaguar sounds better but it’s perfectly ok for you to disagree with me. (I drive a Kia Cadenza)
Cheap plastics, annoying squeaks that develope very early in a new F-types life put me right off - not to mention the touch screen media system that you can't use on everyday roads because the stiffness in the suspension makes your finger jiggle all over the place - there's also the huge depreciation in jag prices All Porsches look bland in pictures and the people that normally make these comments have never actually been in one, let alone driven one. Boxster for me
Porsche biased review.. You guys are reviewing the Boxster with PDK and name the base price, while the Jaguar has Automatic sort of standard. So you are comparing apples to oranges.. Oh yes, electrical steering and feeling? What a load of crap. The Boxster has no feeling at all in the steering. Thats the main complaint of the new Porsches. Thumbs down for this bad movie
I bought the Jag for its soundtrack. Love it.
I like the front in porsche and the back of jaguar

The Jaguar is a car for joy. And that’s what it’s all about.
@@135iN55 Which company has the most LeMans wins, shit for brains?
Jeezus that Jag looks good.

Funny...I am looking at the exact same cars and have pretty much come to the same conclusion. Thinking of ordering a Boxster GTS.
UALHVY I have not driven the Boxster GTS but I would assume it's going to be a great car. PTV, PASM, Sports exhaust are all included in the GTS, they are all options that makes the Boxster sporty. Good luck with yours.

Ftypes dont have launch control - sorry LOL

The F-Type is the car I will buy .
Stuck between F type R or Boxster S... should I test drive?
No better don‘t, just buy.
the other thing i'd say is that there are thousands of boxters around (here in london) so the jag is a lot rarer
maybe for a reason

would prefer to see a cayman S vs ftype S coupe versions, people still buy convertibles?

I can't believe what you guys pay for your cars. Our prices in Canada are much much cheaper. Having said that you have a beautiful country. Cheers!
Wrong its our tax system cars taxed 13% -51% . F type v6s taxed $65000 10% gst , 5% tariffs , 33% luxury car tax , 3% stamp duty
Wrong choice, the Jag has (much) better looks, sounds a million times better. And no one will want a porker now the F-Type is here
omg go and ask other people and they will say the jag looks the best, your wrong im annoyed at stupid people, dont reply!
loser
David Ferrari

Jaguar not 171k wtf it's under 70k I saw it at the factory
Who is the porker here? Jag weighs 650 lbs more! 2005 Boxster S forever for me!
2:07 We’re talking inches from the barrier
4:16 you see then next to each other? Would anybody seriously choose the Porsche?
Yeah, I actually prefer the the way the Boxster looks over the Jag.
Jag looks like Ford Taurus and handles like one too :-)))
Les P Idiotic comment. In that case what on earth does the Porsche look like...
JUdging by the other comments here, it's clear that if all you're interested is how the car looks, then buy the Jag. If however, you've understood what a "sports" car is, then buy the Porsche. As the video explains, it's the real driver's car.

Um, no. Porsche always wins every comparo. There is no substitute, don't cha know?
isnt it pretty pointless to compare a $ 171k vs $136k??
damn isnt that fucking obvious?
im not even watching this
righttt.. who the fuck would pay that anyways? i can go get a gtr for 100k new.
tyler roddeck Bullshit...not in Australia. Its an Australian review

The best model in 2015

99% of the people commenting will own neither in their lifetimes. And yes, I own one of the above.
Jag all the way for me, looks better inside and out, sounds far better aswell... Porsche is for those of us who aren't that rich!!
Luckily I could easily afford both and I chose the Porsche. You probably can’t afford either one, that’s why you write stupid comments.
Porsche is the better car IMO ... I love that metallic flat-six roar too.
JAG IS BIGGER THAN BOXSTER
600lbs bigger...
I don't find Jag attractive at all, if only from the back. The front is dull and remind Asian cars
where did you get these prices... jaguar is not even close to 100,000$ for the 3.0 liter v6, same with the porshe
+dank mêmes this is an australian review
i think they're talking in aussie dollars, but i've no idea of the exchange rate
$190,000aud drive away / taxed $65000 . In australia we have 33% luxury car tax on cars above $66000aud
83000usd excluding taxes / $125,000aud , list price is with taxes in australia
Something wrong with the rear of the Porsche .
In order for you to have the audacity to comment and compare... you have to own one. I Have a Boxter S and it's a little insulting to compare it with a jag... Having said that, you all can go back to your Isuzu Geo and stfu. Thanks.

Buy the Jag if you can't afford the 911.
280kw/ 46Nm WTF? ..we're not all German you know, talk BHP
I own the jag because of the design..and trading in for a boxster s because porsche is a better car
The F is rather bulbous and looks nothing like the E. The styling doesn't do it for me the way the super sleek mid engine Boxster does.
Cheap plastics, annoying squeaks that develope very early in a new F-types life put me right off - not to mention the touch screen media system that you can't use on everyday roads because the stiffness in the suspension makes your finger jiggle all over the place - there's also the huge depreciation in jag prices

Boxster for me
Buy the Porsche if u can't afford the jag!
Thao Nguyen jaguar is cheaper than a lot of Porsche here and it looks terrible xD sounds like a Nissan GT-R and looks like a Mazda 3. Ugly.
Porsche biased review.. You guys are reviewing the Boxster with PDK and name the base price, while the Jaguar has Automatic sort of standard. So you are comparing apples to oranges..

Thumbs down for this bad movie
Gideon Buurma-van Heijningen you are correct on something at least..
the jaguar souds like a gtr wtf
f type win !!
