Only a handful of Early-60s petes i can think of with a Factory Detroit! Rare!!! It's nice to see it alive again. These old trucks where not big in size but the Scale of them are!
We used to have to prime the old 71series DD's. Take one of the jump lines off the farthest injector, fill an oil squirt can filed with diesel fuel, and pump her full of fuel, hook the jumper back up, crank over & she'll start. Had to do after running out out fuel on the side of the interstate, after forgetting to turn the cross over on the feel tanks after a repair...
All you need is the right combo. Usually it's the right pedal mashed as far down as you can get it. That's from pans and haul truck and mixer experience and I'd drive it now if it was together with maybe some new rubber.
If it were me and I was pulling the engine and transmission out I’d tear both completely down to bare blocks and check every moving part and replace where needed And since you’re doing all that might as well tear the driveline and rears right down and do them too
Not sure on the plans for the whole project. We are going to pull the engine and trans to get it over to our body shop where they will blast the frame and put air ride suspension under it.
Would love to at least see a wide shot when starting of the side so we can see inside the cab and see the engine at the same time. Man I love your startup videos though!
It's got a hell of a good starter on it. 😆
Kinda a cool thay anticipated a runaway and added a valve to chock it

you successfully turned diesel into noise. all is well!
That's just a little bit of smoke, but guaranteed no mosquitoes in the vicinity for a 10 mile radius .

Great video of a resurrection but ....2 cycle .Detroits need proper fuel priming to start, seems that step was overlooked.

Think it was a 60. We show that it the part 1 video
