Very few groups have that talent, skill level and interaction where they are just perfect together. Been my fave since they came on the scene in later 80s. ✝️🙏🏾❤️🤴🏾🤴🏽🤴🏿🤴🏽🤴🏾🤴🏾
Wow, I remember this performance. It brings back memories. Claude had hair, Mervyn was there. And it also shows how much they change things over the years. Mark's arrangement of this song has really changed today with Vin doing the 2nd lead part and Claude doing the bass. And it's fun when Mark tries to teach the audience at the beginning now with this song. But it's good to 'look back' sometimes. Thanks for posting.
Oooh yes! Mark and Dave were so handsome in this video. Ya'll looked sharp in ya'll lil' church suits. Mark is my favorite singer of the group. The things he can do vocally are ridiculous. Excellent performance, fellas. #anditsstillallgood
@6411Sandra Somethin Within Me is actually Merv's arrangement. Their "Alliance" project from '86 had their bass sing it originally, the guy that Vin replaced. That project didn't have the entire "lower half" (Dave, Ced nor Alvin) that is now in place. I truly wish Merv would arrange and sing with them on a project..
Claude sang 1st but on some parts in particularly "Get Away Jordan" Merv would sing 1st. Merv's falsetto is actually more piercing and has more bite. However, his timbre in his chest voice is so brilliant, it was no need for him to do it all the time. It is more robust than Claude's.
Alphaqnow, when I looked the credits up on the arrangement for this song it listed Mark, not Merv. Maybe we can get one of the actual group members to give us a confirmation on who actually arranged it.
+Dwayne Mcdowell I agree as well. Bryant's interview is rather annoying and he asks some stupid questions. But other than that, WOW!!!! This is the Take 6 I miss. With Mervyn in the group. Mark is a BEAST!!!!! That boy can SING!!!!!!
@306fatboy In your critique of Bryant Gumbel sounding like a know it all intellectual, you come off sounding just like what you accused him of being. Kinda like pot calling kettle black. lol. Anyway, Take 6 is awesome and foine as hell. I've had the pleasure of hearing them live many times, and good music, is just good music, needs no title. If it moves people, it's all good. Music is universal. I'm moved by a good blues as well.

As soon as i saw this on today i went out to buy their CD. Been hooked ever since. 🙌🏾💪🏾
Mark's runs are so impressive..... specially at the intro from chest to falsetto! Wow! Clean and precise!

Nona
yes
I think they are the most harmonically inclined in this performance compared to others ive heard
Talk about faith and works. What's the solution, you can't do works if you don't have faith, but if you have faith you just got to go do some works?
Does anyone notice the look Mark gives to the group to come in at 2:38? It's hilarious to me. Then he closes his eyes right afterwards.

@6411Sandra Yeps its pretty awesome when Merv was there. Its actually Claude singing the 2nd lead part and Alvin on the bass

The Dixie Hummingbirds did this song.
@danyelnicole23 I agree, I don't like the way he conducted the interview

Bryant Gumble was awful in this video though. They were great...per usual!
