  • The Lincolnshire Loop Line
This line was closed in the 1970s, Leaving 9 Stations (Washingborough, 5 Miles House, Bardney, Southrey, Stixwould, Woodhall Junction, Tattershall, Dogdyke, and Langrick.)
Even Though it is Sad, There Are some Benefits: The Lost Railway Has Been Converted Into A Mostly Smooth Concrete Path Cycle / Walking Route, Right Alongside the River Witham. Alongside this, Some Of The Stations Still remains Intact, With Stern Brick Platforms Still Remaining, as Well As Station Buildings. Alongside this route, there are Signs Installed to tell You a Little History Of The Route And The Surrounding Areas.

I don't mind admitting I'm sort of obsessed with this particular line, I ride it most weekends, and have just purchased a book from Amazon by AJ Ludlam called The Lincolnshire loop line and the river witham, I'm not a train spotter ( not that there is any!) but it's more the history of the people that travelled and the staff, To see these stations so quiet and now abandoned as it were is stark opposite to a family in Stixwould going to London or Sheffield without changing trains, A little village with a direct link to Kings Cross!

I spent last summer (in between lockdowns!!) photographing every disused railway station on any disused line in Lincolnshire, you would not believe some of the terrific sights I saw, some people have really looked after the history well.

Would have been nice to have a line today that links to Lincoln from Skeg without having to change at Sleaford

I thought the Loop Line was the loop from Woodhall Junction to Bellwater Junction .The line from Boston to Lincoln was the GN line to the north before the ECML was built.

Would be good if this line was reopened

The saddest thing was when they took out the Mablethorpe line according to one source it was making a profit … that’s why we have so much traffic on the road we can’t get anywhere today😖

@@pipandkitty2004 Agreed.. a lot of areas particularly Lincolnshire and Norfolk would benefit massively if these lines were still open, a shame really when you see how busy the roads are now.

More of these disused lines should be converted to cycle ways. Safe easy cycling. What's not to like?

At Boston, was the football ground within sight of the railway line?

I wouldn’t think so, as the railway converges along the river witham almost straight after Boston station.

    Terrible music ruined this

Yeah, I’ve realised this, going to remove the music.

      What's wrong with the music?

I think this comment was referring to the poor choice of music that was first included in the video, which has since been replaced.
