Hey your the transcribing dude. I cheat a bit using 'transcribe' software by seventh string which can analyse the frequency spectrum of a selected waveform and guess the chord and show the notes used. But I tried transcribing or playing the chords by ear of the second half of Glenn Lewis 'One more day. I was pretty close. Dope bass line and chords. I think it's in Eb. 3,6,2,5,flat5,7,1. But using lots of 7 chords. Maybe I will become a gifted transcriber that can listen to something a few times and then find what chords fit the bass line by ear, ha ha. Circle of fifths happening in that one. But interesting the flat 5 to the 7 back to the one. If I got the key correct.

But there is potential for communication and community via computers. In the discussion it was made clear that you've done a lot of transcribing. Check out that song man.

It suggests to me that it could be cheating ourselves of training our ears to recognised chords by using the software frequency analysis. We could become dependent on the software assistance. On the other hand, maybe it would actually allow us to connect the sound to the different chord types and make them familiar even with the assistance of the visual 'note guesses'. I had a look at your site.

I have a bad habit of wanting to over play....in church whether then play basic triads...need to find a balance of playing...nice chords....and basic triads
Warren I started music at 18 also! My primary instrument is the guitar. I’m the music leader at my church now, but I’m still on that hamster wheel. I find it difficult to remember songs in its entirety. So this video is extremely helpful. Thank you so much Warren!
Hi Warren I was recently checking out lesson 112 and there were some really cool points about working with smaller measures or good headphones. One question I have is if writing down the notes on staff paper or software a necessary or frequent part of the transcribing process?
No you don’t have to write stuff down on a staff paper. Remember, music notation is just a means to record and preserve what you’ve transcribed so if you want to revisit it a year later you don’t have to start from scratch. But if you don’t need to preserve it, memorization alone is fine.
