I love this cyclone! Many people seem to not care for the yellow paint but I personally think it is great. Had a 1970 Mercury Cyclone Spoiler with 429 CJ. Had to sell it in 1984 while in college to put food on the table. $800. Ouch! Candy apple red. 0 to 60 in about 4 secs. Tire spin limited shorter times.
Just WOW...amazing to hear that smooth, quiet lifter , forged piston precision with that Super Cobra Jet Drag Pack drivetrain. Reminds me a bit of my brothers 71 Boss 351 he had in the 80s, it was all BOSS 351 drivetrain - but sadly it only had a standard 4 BBL Cleveland - as the original motor was lost racing. TO have that bored 429 in that car would have been a death sentence for us snot nosed punks ....lol!
Fantastic ride-a-long. I'm a Poncho fan from day 1, but cars like this can't be denied. Great motor, top-loader, and I agree with the big car ride. Also loved the fact you beat on it, when it counted. Could feel the tires just don't like that motor. Wish you knew the rear gear. 3K, @ 60, sounds like only 3.50s. Can't imagine a set of 3.90s, or lower. Definitely needs slicks. By the way, New Bedford, or Fall river? Brocktonian myself. Thanks for the ride.
As a lifelong multi-generational Chevy guy, I really like this car. I wish ud gone someplace and opened it up thru the gears, from about 20mph - about 110. Sure woulda shown its prowess.
They may be asking $150K but I don’t think one has ever sold anywhere near that. I own a cyclone spoiler which I have $75K in and it probably wouldn’t sell for that. I’d be happy if you prove me wrong.
These cars were meant to be driven, problem is they are so expensive, there trailer queens now, You just don`t see these Cyclones anymore, they are rare indeed, this is a beauty.
My second cousin bought a new one, late in 69, New Years night 1970, he hit a large popular tree, right side They estimated his speed at 140 at Impact! Limbs as big as my arm snapped out of the top of the tree. The 429 came out of the car and traveled 30 feet and hit a house. It to this day is the worst torn up car I ever saw. There was a pile of pieces at the salvage yard. The only thing I saw still in tack was the spare tire bolted to the trunk floor! Unfortunately, my cousin was picked up in pieces also!!! He was racing a mustang on a country road. It has been a stern reminder to me all my life. I'm 69 now.
Beautiful car. The 429 SCJ is a very nice motor. The killer was always weight, bet the Cyclone with a full tank of gas weighs 4400lbs (easy). Just imagine this motor in a 3500lbs mustang.
Yes really takes me back riding with my buddies, Damn its badass, Drag Pack car, 430 gear 4sp BB 429 all roller,, Have fun my Friend, I still am...SUPER NICE 70...
What I couldn't understand back in the muscle car wars all the big block Fords were only pushing 350 to 375 hp when just a small block 350 had about the same hp and torque ratings...Now I know all the manufacturers underrated those specs but a big block Chevy had so much more hp and torque... As much as 450 and that was underrated

Had one identical orange and black put hooker big tube headers , blue streak dual points , hays clutch, pressure plate , and throw out bearing had to double reinforce all linkages to it even bent the adjustable rod and bracket , wrinkle walls with truck inner tubes , air shocks power shift at 5800 rpm’s bumped timing up to 13 degrees
When I came out of the Marines in 1972 I needed a car Lived in West Spfld,MA went to Central Chevrolet on Memorial Ave and of all the powerful chevys I could of got,I bought the only Mercury Cyclone Spoiler 429 Nascar engine with a 1050 holly 4 spd Hurst and I used to eat up all those Chevys best car I ever had
You made my Day 😁
Had a 1970 Mercury Cyclone Spoiler with 429 CJ.
I would like to buy it l always loved the 70 Torino 429 Cobra jet is it for sale?
Smooth. What's the difference in the Cyclone and Torino?
Not a lot of difference mostly just some body lines and interior options. The cyclone is just the Mercury version of the Torino
Those were great cars.
what kind of fuel are you using in that 11.3 to 1 compression engine ?
I'm a ford power guy to the end
Great car, manual big block, very hard to beat. Anybody know what it's worth?
They may be asking $150K but I don’t think one has ever sold anywhere near that. I own a cyclone spoiler which I have $75K in and it probably wouldn’t sell for that. I’d be happy if you prove me wrong.
These cars were meant to be driven, problem is they are so expensive, there trailer queens now, You just don`t see these Cyclones anymore, they are rare indeed, this is a beauty.
John Kass can build you a awesome Boss 429 572 for any Torino guys. Not any endorsement i wish i have seen his motors on the dyno & used!
Boss heads don't fit you need to mod the shock towers to make it work.
Bad ass car😮
Need some images of the exterior
@@aaarauz1 there are over 200 on our website. We sold this car.
Beautiful car! Barking them tires
Why rev the engine between shifts?
Nice. 8.7L. Is that an original-sized exhaust?
My second cousin bought a new one, late in 69, New Years night 1970, he hit a large popular tree, right side
They estimated his speed at 140 at Impact! I'm 69 now.
Wondering if FI would make it fuel efficient enough to drive daily.
Beautiful car. The 429 SCJ is a very nice motor. The killer was always weight, bet the Cyclone with a full tank of gas weighs 4400lbs (easy). Just imagine this motor in a 3500lbs mustang.
I know, right?
Powered by Ford!!!!🏁🏁 She runs!!!!
Man that's Nice 👍👍
For sale?
Is it still for sale
It will be selling with no reserve at Barrett-Jackson in Scottsdale Arizona at the end of January
Good stuff
I still have a set of hooker headers I bought in late 70's for your car. Miss my mx!
" Rollah Cam .. Rollah Liftahs ".. :)
A awesome car the cyclone runs great to be big heavy car
No exterior view???
We have a separate video showing the entire vehicle, thanks.
Yes really takes me back riding with my buddies, Damn its badass, Drag Pack car, 430 gear 4sp BB 429 all roller,, Have fun my Friend, I still am...SUPER NICE 70...
Wow no power steering???
What I couldn't understand back in the muscle car wars all the big block Fords were only pushing 350 to 375 hp when just a small block 350 had about the same hp and torque ratings...Now I know all the manufacturers underrated those specs but a big block Chevy had so much more hp and torque... As much as 450 and that was underrated
That qualifies as a unicorn these days.
surprised to see the white wall tires
