Madam, if the position of the load is as given in the circuit, the current will flow through load-R1-R2-D-R during the positive half cycle, even if the SCR is off , right? Shouldn't we change the load position to the right side of node A for proper working?
@Anetrose When 1 st case Vg< Vgt, i flows( small) , but the same current (i) isn't it the same current flowing through load as there is a closed path? Then how can Vo is 0? Pls answer me I'm very confused madam
I'm no expert... But I think. Consider the load to be Ra. And those resistors in series, combine them to from Rb. Since she said R2 is very large. That means Rb>>>Ra. So consider Rb as infinity. Now using voltage divider formula. When you put Rb as infinity. Drop across Ra becomes 0.. ie drop across load Vo is zero.

Diode protects the gate drive circuit from reverse gate voltage during the negative half cycle of the supply
