daneil franklin Yes, war is a nightmare. I don't "hate" the new Call of Duties, but I do believe they need to have a darker tone to them. I'd rather them show us what it is like to experience war, and not show us what it's like to be a fictional hero that runs around in battle with dub step playing.
0:00 - 3:40 When I think about Call of Duty World at War, I think about this point in the game. Treyarch captured this so perfectly, the endless bombers overhead, the tanks rolling past and the Werhmacht soldiers shooting down the men all around you. Today we have pink weapons, jetpacks and wall jumping... This is where the series was strongest in my opinion, dark, gritty and capturing perfectly the true horror of the Second World War

I could not agree more. As much as I loved All Ghillied Up, I definitely think Vendetta did sniping better. It was such an intense mission, especially on Veteran.
that sniper duel is almost impossible on veteran. *Shoots enemy sniper straight in the head* "You only wounded him!" *shoots him again* "It was just a decoy!" *shoots him for the 3rd time* "you just grazed him!"
Vendetta was just an amazing mission the intro to it has got to be the most powerful imagery I've ever seen in a call of duty game, it was gritty, it was horrible, it was sad and it reflected what it was depicting. World at War was the absolute closest any call of duty or any military shooter about WW2 has gone to depicting the horrors of war and the realism of it all and to be honest I wish more trearch and sledghamer games were like this. it's hard to explain but when I look at the modern warfare games and the black ops series I see a sort of plastic covering of what war is like but when I look at Word at war it's exactly what I think would happen, body parts would get blown off if a grenade blows up next to them, bodies would be chard when lit with a flam thrower, people would be crawling for their life with blood trails behined them if they were shot or had limbs blown off and environments would be cluttered with debris broken buildings dead bodies ect and this is what World at war did right and is why it's my favorite call of duty game. back to the mission, Reznov is my favorite Call of duty character his accent, the things he says just hold so much wait compared with any other character. he was well written and an extrema credit to the Russian front and Russians in general even if he is depicted as a little blood thirsty he has every right to be with what he's seen and with what the Germans did to his family.
I agree, very good comment, and I always thought this too. This game almost constantly created such a gritty and dirty atmosphere. It really exemplifies the terror and atrocities of real life wars in a way unlike any other game I've seen. A good example is at the start of this Vendetta mission, when your character wakes up to see the German soldiers executing all the wounded men lying around the ground in the destroyed, war-torn city. Such intense and gritty atmospheres.
In reality right now ... We'll never again see large armies at war with each other and massacres like (thank you ICC) Systematic genocide that wasn't ever seen in the Middle Ages it was really horrific . Over 100 million died in this war .. Now machines and drones do the battle ... No more conventional warfare threat of nuclear warfare . And television and media of course and jolly video games making people aware war isn't good at all which isn't but you know what I mean (getting support ) but the last time the world was totally unified was ww2 you were either an axis or ally
Jr Johnbarn Also the first mission when you almost get executed and Pyle dies right in front of you with his last words being "Don't tell them a fucking thing" powerful stuff
4:06 - 4:43 is, without a doubt, the best part... ..."For days I have crept through shadows like a rat. This place once echoed with conversations of friends and lovers. No longer. Mark my words, Comrade... One day things will change. We will take the fight to their land... to their people... to their blood."
Terminathan97 Why can't these pricks go back to ww2 video games (╥_╥) not some fucking high tech power suits and shit with flying grenades. Can we at least get some emotion from the characters or something realistic.
0:00 - 0:53 has always hit me hard. I'm not an emotional person but you can feel the immense sadness and sorrow in this part of the track. Excellent piece.
In a way, I feel this game is underrated, not just in the series, but in the whole extensive library of modern games. I see games like Spec Ops : The Line getting praised for showing the true colours and horrors of war, when World at War did it before in an extremelly powerful way. I wished Call of Duty went back to the roots, especially now that we have a team that worked on dead space creating new CoD's, they could do a new masterpiece such as this game, World War II is the perfect setting to create a powerful war game with a heavy message. That's why I think this game deserves more credit, for doing what many other games are afraid of doing because the publishers are trying to appeal to a more casual audience, other games should follow World at War's example. And these are the reasons why Call of Duty : World at War is my favorite game, and rightfully so.
What I traded from this website was this generation of games now wants futuristic games to keep up with halo , battle field and other shooters . Ww2 isn't really appealing since it really happened and it was real and they already made a majority of many ww2 games in Call of duty so that's why I'm guessing But modern warfare 2 was the one that attracted kids and that's what cause to change it to more futuristic and not "real" to be sensitive to people because kids mom are really sensitive that's why. And not a lot of people want ww2 games sorta like 30% yes rest don't care .
Treyarch should do a world war 1 or Korean War game so we can see the past. But yet again they're probably gonna bring in the 3 strike package crap that they have now and the trillion perk shit. And shout out to TheFurious Weasel for making great videos. The last good COD was black ops
from wat i heard they r making world at war 2 after finishing and noticing they went deep into the future because now the other 2 idiots sledgehammer and IW r doing it too so they r bringing back the WW2 era back or idk war that is based on a true story like WaW
Treyarch, we urge you. PLEASE do another game like this. This was by far the most atmospheric game I have ever played. The feeling of realism was outstanding.
1:07 I always get that creepy feeling of this theme, it’s like a soldier who just woke up from being knocked out by artillery fire hitting next to him. Waking up to see the battle is over and you’re walking through the destroyed city,
After about a minute of ringing ears, the soldier hears dying scream surrounding his body. Gunfire and blood floods his vision, as if time slowed down just for him. At first when he joined the military, he thought he was going on a grand adventure. But instead of adventure he found fear, and in war, the only true equalizer is death.
The fact that the starting scene for this mission was by the infamous fountain where hundreds of Russians and Germans were killed was the most shocking thing I’ve ever witnessed as a kid. They portrayed the bloodiest battle of the war so historically accurate I nearly broke down
I was shivering throughout this entire mission. Really made me feel like I was actually Pvt. Petrenko on the battlefield. Even at 16, I can still get chills and be scared being spotted by the Nazis. The realism in this game was outstanding. What happened to Treyarch?
Vendetta was a mission that hit like no other. The rest of the Russian missions, and the marine ones don't even come close to it. Maybe the siege of Berlin is somewhat comparable
@@sakisroubas3237 well maybe if they went more far and dark and added nazi kids and grandfathers defending the big building and you had to kill them, it would be the darkest game ever to date
Before I played this game, I was already getting into World War 2 History. Learning about the D-Day, the Battle of Stalingrad, Fall of Berlin, the attack on Poland and France's surrender, and even the African Campaign. I was interested and finding out what really happened in the war. When I finished playing the game, I realized what war is like. And (+daneil franklin) in the comment section is right. COD WAW has indeed shown us what a war is. A nightmare. And yes, COD kids have not taken history, should definitely start taking it now. Don't just be there because you wanna be "MLG" or some of that unnecessary nonsense. War is not a game. War is not fun. War is not fake. It is real, tragic, and we all have to go through it at times. World War 3 may be around the corner, then will you kids not only see it, but will experience it. You wanna be MLG? Then try being Major League, in a real war. Just remember though. You won't respawn. You won't hack. You won't glitch. You only live once.
World War Two as a whole was a horrible ! It gave out how horrific people can be and also brought the good and set the pillars of the modern world. I'd say the pacific was just as bad. You know with the invasion of China and the Nanking rape. Thank god operation downfall was avoided! Would've been a lot worse than Berlin But the east was bad. Most deaths , most genocides, most .. The eastern front was hell.
+1945joshuaruiz If operation downfall had occur then we probably would have seen a divided Japan since the Soviets would have invade Japan from the North and today it would have been like Korea.
In the pacific people didn't die of frostbite and starvation, the east was hell on earth. Both sides starved to death and had to live in the building right next to each other..
Nah nothing it ww2 was all in Poland the worst part it was all in Poland, first the fascist evil taking over genociding destroying than the red communistic evil from the east coming to hitlers aid, after that being taken over by the fascists completely and after that by the communists completely, gulag genocides, katyn forest genocide, so much bloodshet,
"This place once echoed the conversations with Friends and Lovers. No more. Mark my words, Comrade… One day things will change; we will take the fight to their land… to their people… to their blood." -Sergeant Viktor Reznov (1913-1963)
0:00 hearing your character heavily breathing, the sound of crows flocking and cawing, individual shots from kar98k’s and mp40’s executing any living soviets in the background, sight of German bombers flying overhead, and seeing the remaining soldiers struggling around you in the fountain get executed.
The weird thing was that the higher the dificulty, the more shots you had to score, and on veteran I think I scored two headshots and WTF, he was still moving xD
@@flavortown5124 Sometimes the hackers(aka script-kiddies) were fun. they'd give everyone noclip, and infinite ammo and make your level go up. And Yes It did ruin the whole purpose of multiplayer. IM not sure for zombies though. But you're right. CoD is in the fucking dumpster right now
This is the music I listen to whilst studying. Keeps me calm, keeps me focused, keeps me thinking. Just like the soldiers in the war, they had to remain focused, calm and thoughtful in order to become victorious.
One of the most chilling yet powerful call of duty I have ever listened. Cod Waw is undoubtedly one of the most underrated yet greatest cod games ever made. It honestly highlighted the true extent of the sheer brutality and the horrors of war and that was honestly why in my opinion I strongly believe that cod waw truelly deserves so much more recognition than deserves
0:00 rest in peace. To all the fallen souls that sing their song, their final song, any song to the select few willing to hear it. Allies, Axis, it matters not.
4:06 "For days I have crept through shadows like a rat. This place once echoed with conversations of friends and lovers. No longer. Mark my words, Comrade... One day things will change. We will take the fight to their land... to their people... to their blood."
The Russian campaign is the best and if you pay attention on the black ops 1 level where you play as reznov in the arctic circle he talks about pavtrenko leaving the men to be slaughtered and something like the level vendetta, actually happened. Also you can just watch enemy at the gates about the Russian sniper in the fountain is basically what happened
This mission will always be my favourite in this game. Think of it like this. You just came from being the Thompson-wielding American badass, to going to a Russian soldier who is among dead men, some dying and the Germans are trying to find any survivors. You stay perfectly still, not daring to breathe or the Nazis will put a bullet in you. As the Nazis move on, you crawl, hoping to get out, find safety when a comrade of yours moves and asks for your help, he needs to avenge the massarce by killing the Nazi General, Amsel. He has a sniper but his hand is badly injured which means it falls on you to do the precise shooting. There are Nazis near the fountain, going out or firing a bullet is too risky. Amsel moves as the Bombers go overhead which gives you your chance to kill the Nazi Soldiers silently and quickly. Every shot counts as you take out all of them and your new friend, Reznov compliments your aim. You see the destruction all around you, the Nazis did this. Reznov speaks aloud his thirst for revenge and that it will one day be on Germany's doorstep. You too feel the burning desire to avenge what has happened, the only way is killing their General. But rest assured, the Nazis will not let their General die easily and every shot counts. Aim well, the lives of many Red Army Soldiers and your country depends on YOU. Show the Nazis you aren't the hunted, YOU are the Hunter now!
The intro of this just hits you so hard when your playing just looking at war right in front of your face and the voice of this girl so amazing it's so ... It's just it hits you hard.
Honestly the opening to this video just screams nostalgia. I remember you're lying in that fountain half dead and the Wehrmacht was walking around shooting the survivors & the crows were crowing while tanks rolled by next to you. Then the bombers pass overhead. Aaaaah good times
"World War 2 was a global war. It is generally considered to have lasted from 1939 to 1945, although some conflicts in Asia that are commonly viewed as becoming part of the world war had begun earlier than 1939. It involved the vast majority of the world's nations-including all of the great powers-eventually forming two opposing military alliances: the Allies and the Axis. It was the most widespread war in history, with more than 100 million people, from more than 30 different countries. In a state of "total war", the major participants threw their entire economic, industrial, and scientific capabilities behind the war effort, erasing the distinction between civilian and military resources. Marked by mass deaths of civilians, including the Holocaust and the first use of nuclear weapons in combat, it resulted in an estimated 50 million to 85 million fatalities. These made World War II the deadliest conflict in human history." ~ Wikipedia
World war 2 is much more ominous then Hollywood has led us to believe. if you think about it, people probably thought it was the end of the world. the scarier thing is ww3 will make world war 2 look like a fist fight
Ww2 it self killed 60 million soldiers around the world even Japanese citizen and in japan the people from japan defend them self of there enemy but japan doesn't want to fight the American there friends but the emperor force them to sneak attack them and hitler thinks it's a game anyway
@@accent1666 the path ukraine's heading is not the path of world war. instead, it's another proxy war. it's just gonna be like vietnam, only it's russia not the united states. i'm being serious. it's just gonna be a repeat of vietnam. history often repeats itself, and seeing how vietnam began, went, and ended, ukraine is falling perfectly in that order. major world power wants to stop the spread of something, invades a country to stop it, wasting resources to fight a war they're destined to lose, and then finally admit defeat
The very beginning of this soundtrack sounds as if a group of angels or valkyries have come to take you to your rightful place in heaven. "It's... over," you think, "it's finally over. I can finally escape this nightmare..." You swear you can see it. The Pearly Gates, or the halls of Valhalla. You have earned your rightful place alongside the faithful or the valiant dead. You swear you could see Him waiting for you, or hear a song honouring your memory echoing among the revelry of your fellow warriors. It seemed so beautiful, the promised life that lay beyond the Earth you knew in your mortal life. ...but your time has not yet come. "I am so sorry, my son. Your duty is not yet done." "Your legend has one last story, brother ours." And with those words echoing in your mind, the weight of mortality yanks you from your heavenly ascent, and you are pulled right back down into the hell you just left, announced by a single, pained intake of breath from your beaten body. "Welcome back."
This soundtrack sends shivers down my spine every time I listen to it. It's as if the Heavens themselves are crying out in sorrow at what mankind is doing to themselves.
this was back during the time this was considered a game with a new level of gore and violence, it was great to see it shift far apart from other games with the "true war" aspect.
For days I have crept through shadows like a rat. This place once echoed with conversations of friends and lovers. No longer. Mark my words comrade, one day things will change. We will take the fight to their land. To their people. To their blood.
The intro creeps me out. It reminds me of when I was 13 and first played and finished World at War. The credits finished and just as I was about to turn my PS3 off to go to bed, there was the intro scene for Nacht Der Untoten, and well lets say I couldn't sleep after that.
"fire at the wrong moment and your chance will be forever lost patience if we reveal our position to amsels men this fountain will be out grave now load your rifle but hold fire wait until the bombers are directly over head the sound of the engine will drown out your shot"

I can see and hear the game while this plays... I can see it so vividly... the fountain with the corpses... reznov asking you for help...crawling...breathing...sweating... I can feel it all... this is an absolute master piece that I will never forget... thank you~
When you jump into the river and see a a Russian hat with blood in the water. You think Reznov got shot and died but quickly realize years later that it was your hat that was stained with blood from the fighting in Stalingrad.
Two powerful nations, two hard working and diligent groups of people, Slav and German fighting a war to erase each other from existence... that's what the first part says to me. Tragic and pointless, yet astonishing as well, to witness.
Nazi Germany fought for the world domination, while Soviet Union fought for their lives and their land. Nazi Germany was trying to erase slavic nations. USSR was just pushing back the enemy to where they came from. Feel the difference!
WoW is by far the best WWII game ever. and the best COD game in the franchise. it truly shows the horrors of WWII from the Pacific all the way toward Berlin. nothing can top it!
Hauntingly beautiful. World at War was the last CoD game that actually touched me on an emotional level. It truly depicted the gruesomeness of Stalingrad's occupation.
+Brotha Gabe Actually The fountain part is based off the movie Stalingrad... If u would like to see the fountain part in Stalingrad to compare the scene to the scene in COD WAW then look at the video: 10 times call of duty ripped off from the movies... The Video was made by WatchMojo.com

Greed and apathy. They could've stopped with the yearly releases with black ops 2 and just make it release every 3 or 4 years. Like the devs are also tired of making the same game over and over again, but it's not their fault, but bobby shittick for predatory practices. I personally think the franchise will never get up on its feet mainly because brainless people keep buying whatever they shit out and it's a reason why the latest cod looks like a fancy version of Fortnite and not actual soldier's game. There are a lot of things that I can say but I don't want to keep going.
@@kreizyxdI don’t think the Yearly releases of each cod game had anything to do with the Downfall of Call of Duty, it was Fortnite all along, if Fortnite never even existed, there wouldn’t be Cod Warzone, no shitty 100 tier battle passes in cod, cod would’ve still been good either way if Fortnite never came and destroyed it all
@@Rimberio_6732 yes Fortnite has something to do with that, but that game came out 2017, while the whole shtick with loot boxes and the creeping predatory business models were emerging with if I'm not mistaken advanced warfare? But definitely in black ops 3 and onwards. Personally I think black ops 3 is the last good cod but not as much, mainly because zombies carried that game, while the campaign is bad, but not as bad as future installments, and I didn't enjoy the multiplayer of black ops 3 mainly because of that fancy movement, but I can see that it can be also fun as some maps felt good with the movement system. I loved the more grounded cod4, mw2 (2009) mw3 (2011) cod waw, bo, bo2 and no I haven't played any cod after bo4... I stopped caring about the game and genuinely just saw future cod games as a waste of money. Not to mention that buying loot boxes and getting rare items or anything just didn't transfer into future installments which more or less seemed more unnecessary money spent...

0:59 is where the chills hit you hard as you remember all the flashbacks COD world at war had to offer
Waw has a special place in my heart. It's so different from the games in todays mainstream. This game actually shows what a war is actually is. No dubstep, no epic colourful robotics, no heroes. Everyone in war is a victim. All you can do is seal your emotions and push forward through mud and dead bodies. Survive - that's all matters for soldier. At that time Call of Duty still had balls to do that.
4:06 Hits me so hard, especially since I grew up in communism. It made me think of the dark times we all went through before and after the fall of Czechoslovakia.
"Have I ever told you... the definition of insanity? The insanity is... doing th same thing over and over and over and waiting for the shit to change. This is insanity." Vaas literally summarized the future of many game companies
This is gonna sound weird, but the first minute or so if this track brings memories of a certain Shark Week documentary. Megalodon: The Monster Shark Lives. There’s one scene at the very end where there’s a shot underwater of a cage in the dark ocean off the coast of South Africa. It’s only visible thanks to a spotlight above the water. It only lasts ten seconds, but the massive shark swims by the cage and you only see it thanks to the aforementioned spotlight. If that one scene was made longer and the first 50 seconds of this track with the choir were put over it, that would be just bone chilling. What I’m trying to say, is that this soundtrack can be very good at send chills up my spine.
As great as AGU is, Vendetta just feels so much more personal on top of being tense. AGU is more edge of your seat, but Vendetta is a level that makes you want to kill every enemy you can
The biggest reason to me that older cod games were better is because the story was focused more on the setting than the characters. You and your allies were not unstoppable super soldiers with explosions everywhere. You were just a normal soldier, no backstory and they didn’t desperately try to get you to love the characters. And they were not happy uplifting stories they were brutal and horrifying. There were no cheesy bosses or villains. The villain was simply the axis forces trying to conquer the world.
I think we can all agree that World At War is the greatest War game of all time others like COD WW2 was alright but it didn't do it as good as this. But Battlefield 5 never played it myself but I can say that it can't be considered just as good or better than World At War.

+Smeeven Spielberg specifically the Black ops franchise, looking forward to playing black ops 3 soon with god's will
+Smeeven Spielberg Yea. Completely agree. I miss that time when game developers could make good war games.
The musical combinations of industrial, chanting, metal, and opera made this game so much better.
Ww2 isn't really appealing since it really happened and it was real and they already made a majority of many ww2 games in Call of duty so that's why I'm guessing
But modern warfare 2 was the one that attracted kids and that's what cause to change it to more futuristic and not "real" to be sensitive to people because kids mom are really sensitive that's why.
Jake Wong see ww1 wasn't a fast paced war until 1918 and Korea was a fast paced until 1951 when it became trench warfare.
I really want/hope that sledgehammer games goes back to making that unfinished Vietnam game.
Treyarch, we urge you. PLEASE do another game like this. This was by far the most atmospheric game I have ever played. The feeling of realism was outstanding.
They’ve been going for that overwatch fortnite style since black ops 3 and black ops 4 sadly
A modern audience couldn't handle a game like this today :(

1:07 I always get that creepy feeling of this theme, it’s like a soldier who just woke up from being knocked out by artillery fire hitting next to him. Waking up to see the battle is over and you’re walking through the destroyed city,
After about a minute of ringing ears, the soldier hears dying scream surrounding his body. Gunfire and blood floods his vision, as if time slowed down just for him. At first when he joined the military, he thought he was going on a grand adventure. But instead of adventure he found fear, and in war, the only true equalizer is death.
The intro is definately the best part
hell yeah! :D *respect*

In the words of Mr.Krabs, "Money"

Would've been a lot worse than Berlin
But the east was bad.

Bro the amount of nostalgia this music gives me, and the classic 360 boot up- just 👌
This mission will always be my favourite in this game.
War...war never changes.

The very beginning of this soundtrack sounds as if a group of angels or valkyries have come to take you to your rightful place in heaven.
"It's... over," you think, "it's finally over. I can finally escape this nightmare..."
You swear you can see it.
Your duty is not yet done." "Your legend has one last story, brother ours."
And with those words echoing in your mind, the weight of mortality yanks you from your heavenly ascent, and you are pulled right back down into the hell you just left, announced by a single, pained intake of breath from your beaten body.
"Welcome back."
This soundtrack sends shivers down my spine every time I listen to it. It's as if the Heavens themselves are crying out in sorrow at what mankind is doing to themselves.

Not even Ghillied Up, can match this masterpiece!

2:18 Goosebumps every time... that's flippin' creepy
Jacob Nash exactly u cared about the characters u felt relatable to them and how they felt
The opening soundtrack is just breathtaking.
I think we can all agree that World At War is the greatest War game of all time others like COD WW2 was alright but it didn't do it as good as this. But Battlefield 5 never played it myself but I can say that it can't be considered just as good or better than World At War.
