Maybe use two tanks one with just Agar Agar in it and one with Bacteria AE in it and compare the difference? Might be interesting. Keep up the good work.
Not a bad idea
yep, always do 'controls' for any experiment :>
putting my money where my mouth is. i voted for this thumbnail, had to click it
Oh I like experiments. This is very interesting! Thank you, Mark.
Ich freu mich auf das Update Marc
I will.
Love the idea of test videos im akways testing and experimenting with my own test tanks
Wild thumbnail! Almost didnt recognize it as a MST video haha
Lol that was what I was thinking
Oh man i didnt mean change it haha! I think it could be a cool way to identify these "experiment" videos
This is awesome! I can’t wait for more testing! 💯
Thank you Mark for taking us on your journey, to improve shrimp environments and shrimp health. As a noob #shrimpkeeper, your experience is invaluable. Thank you for all you share. 🦐
another great video. we always learn something new. thank you!!!
Interesting experiment! I like these vlog style of videos. Short and sweet!
Thank you Sue!
Hi Mark! Amazing video, I’ve learned so much from you. Have you tried the one week cycling with UGF and Brightwell soil? I was taught this method by a shrimp shop owner and it worked for me. I was wondering what you thought about this method and if it’s viable in pushing more publicly
Awesome! I was thinking about setting and using agar-agar for shipping plants, to create some sort of fertile water gel. Think I might wait for the results of this test!
I'm not sure if dissolved agar like that can be a 'media' to something grow on, I usually use a small amount of molasses to give food to starter bacteria, which pretty much same mechanism . But it gives me weird idea of using block of solid agar with extra nutrients in it haha.
Its not the media its the food source ...I think 😲
Great content as always, Just use caution as the glucose produced may cause Staphylococcus aureus spike in tank which will lead to biofilm bloom, carefull if you have any cuts etc.
Thank you for the heads up wug!
Hi Mark, I’m looking forward to an update on the use of agar agar.
I did but I didnt film it because the results were pretty rubbish, the tank that went green originall went all yellow so I tried double the amount of agar and nothing happened so I added 1 liter off amazonia to the tank and the walls went green again. It was a good test even if nothing came from it.
Mark - algae created by lights, this creates a sugar for the biofilm, which the bacteria in the biofilm eat (algae to sugar) - so, promotion of the algae through lighting and addition of agar agar may be a solution? I need to look up polysaccharides
Hay brother!! I've been very curious on chitin what's a good source of chitin. It the main product in benebachi breeding liquid they have some powder stuff they use in pharmaceuticals and beauty products but I think it artificially made and it's expensive. Any ideas you may have I'd love to hear it.
Love these videos I tryed your lacto bacteria with brown rice I found black rice works too with molasses it just makes things really dark. But it's magic. Praising God for your awesome videos.
I've been feeding agar agar based food for a while now 💚
Keen to see an update.
Whatever happened when you were adding ridex? You showed making it for your normal mixture ( with bacterAE,andbee pollen I think), but I never saw anything else about it/
I ran out of the stuff, it was pretty expensive for me to import from America so I never bought it again but yeah it did work.
@@MarksShrimpTanks I guess I'll give it a go then, use it in the septic regularly anyway.
Have you tried growing sweet potatoes in an aquarium?
Yes, I have actually! It's a unique and fun way to grow sweet potatoes.
Mummy interested in how this goes using the Lacto every water change now and I really mean this babies and berried every tank! So I can't rate that highly enough! Keep up the good work Mark! Your box is on its way check your emails for the tracking ect have a good day! 😊
Hey Mark... Awesome video as usual.... Need an advise on baby shrimps... Been feeding them powdered hikari shrimp cusine pettels as advised from your previous videos but can't see them eating.... Not sure if they are feeding on algae from the glass...
To be honest withou seeing pictures and your setup i cant really say, have you joined our facebook group Aquarium Shrimp Keeping? try posting there and you will get much more help than in my comment section. 👍😀
Lol true.... Let me try that.... I need to create a Facebook account 🤦🏿♂️
When do i use this agar agar only on water changes???
Hello mate, I am still testing this, the walls did go very very green but that might have been the soil, It started to grown long and then it got string algae in it, so I did a so just a large water change and it all went yellow but it returned to the short form so a few days ago I dosed it again, and it looks like its starting to go green again but that could be my imagination. I do have another spare tank I could test this is so look out for it.
Morning Mark thanks for the reply.what else can i use in the place of Bacter Ae?im in South Africa and we struggle getting Bacter Ae
Shrimp shops in South Africa all out of stock and waiting period 1 month +
Currently using Dead Shrimp Powder but you have to buy it of a guy on facebook, if thats a no go you could always try powdered goldfish flakes but just dont go overboard with it.
Just one problem i would recommend heating water on stove and not in microwave.
hows d result ?
didnt work, I tried a second tank with 3 times this dose and nothing happened.
I need to see the results
Oh you will.
I like you're doing test, but I'd rather see one video including the results.
I cant show you the results in a vlog style video, thats what I do on my channel now for the most part. But if the video gets enough traction and warrants a second or third video, I make a playlist.
Where
Are
Results???
It
didnt
work
so
there
was
no
second
video!!!
@@MarksShrimpTanks so what will we do with Polysaccharides ? How to grow biofilm? No hope... :(
@@MarksShrimpTanks ps: I am an azzkole, just like to add a bit of drama sometimes :)
I gave up chasing greenwalls because i have snails, snails eat all the alge eventually.
@@MarksShrimpTanks I read somewhere that snails have advanced senses for calcium, may be it is possible to constantly distract them with high-calcium food... I am experimenting with different foods. For example, I see that my snails are much more interested in a boiled spinach than shrimps.
You can Google how to pronounce words correctly . I would have pronounced it similarly .So we were both close but no cigar !
I did and corrected it onscreen 😂👍
