As a Grizz fan I'm still so bitter that we traded Melton away for a late first round pick. The pick turned into David Roddy, who does have some promise, but still, Melton is young and was exactly the type of player we needed off the bench. Ugh... can't win them all I guess.
Klay Thompson at 85 is just right or even a bit too high. At this point if he's not lighting it up from 3 he's just a straight liability on both sides of the court. When he's shooting well he's a great player but he's no longer in that all-star/borderline all-nba tiers that ranges from 85 to 89 that includes guys like Siakam and DeRozan due to inconsistency
@@transcendallnegativeenergy2876yeah this dude doesn’t know what he is talking about klay lead the league in 3s made with only 69 games played the runner up buddy hield played 80 games and he was 13 3 points behind klay but what’s most impressive is curry who only played 56 games managed to get 3rd
@@unkown981 inconsistency... when he's good he's really good but when he's not hot he can't contribute in any other way. His defense has fallen off a cliff (Payton, Kuminga, Wiggins and DiVincenzo were better POA defenders last season and Klay has been notoriously known as a Bad off-ball defender), he's not a creator on-the-dribble and his shot selections are sometimes unacceptable especially after shooting 30%
The actual ratings of their individual skills in the game should reflect what they are in real life, I'm not sure about the inner workings of the game in how they calculate the overall rating, but if its just an average of all their individual skills, Giannis is going to come out lower in comparison to the real world. His jumpshot is probably average at best, with his freethrow shooting and 3 point shooting below average. His playmaking is maybe slightly above average (compared to the league), even though it is great for his position. All his other statistics are probably close to the best the league has; strength, speed, agility, finishing around the rim and just about every defensive statistic. This would still give him a lower rating overall if it was an average of all his stats, while we all know he is clearly a top 5 player, most people would say top 3. That said, none of these statistics in the game are exact and there is valid criticism on just about every statistic that is in the game.
Fournier at 73 is crazy, he should be somewhere in the 78-80 range. Collins and Hield at 80 seem very low too, as well as Grant and Russ at 81. DeRozan and especially Siakam at 86 is borderline disrespectful. So is Adebayo at 87, he shoud rank ahead of some older, more injury-prone guys.
@@MrMoeman2000 I’m not a casual, Siakam is obviously good, but 86 really isn’t that disrespectful of a rating lmao. I’d maybe have him at 87, but it’s not outlandish.
The issue is that these ratings (especially the overall ratings) are incredibly arbitrary and do not reflect the actual workings of a real life player on a basketball court. Individual statistics, like 3 point shooting % for example, can be aggregated and measured along efficiency and volume, or TS%, but the overall effectiveness and impact of a single player is not only extremely dependant on circumstance (teammates and opponents), but also very hard to put into a single rating that is accurate enough to compare them by. We also value players that are injured often, quite a bit less. Players like Zion or Kawhi for example, who are clearly top NBA players if they are playing at full strength, are generally not considered as strong as they actually are, because it is worth nothing if they do not play. Meanwhile a player like Jokic, who not only is a clear contributor on the court, with his scoring, playmaking and floor raising, has a near perfect availability record, greatly impacting his team's winning chances.
Anthony Edwards should be the pick in 88. He outplayed Murray in the playoffs. Averaged 32ppg (on great efficiency. Higher then even Jokic that series), 5rebs, 5ast, 2 steals and 2 BLOCKS! He led the entire playoffs in advanced stats like RAPTOR too and beats Murray in any metric in the playoffs. In the regular season, ANT also played better than Murray. Trae Young is the most extreme high-upside, low downside player in the NBA. He has insane playmaking and shooting potential, but sometimes it just isnt there.
