    I'm BACK! I still enjoy my Retire flight privileges for life, with SWA! I've been to England twice and my wife 3x over the past year via ID-90 (MyID Travel). One trip she made was for my ONE MONTH working for Envoy Airlines (American Airlines). THAT was sweet, because to UK was free and back is UK taxes, only. One trip was in Business Class, for her! BUT, I wasn't feeling being back on the Ramp (low seniority, pay and first to get mandatory OT). Yet, I miss the Buddy Passes to travel with my grandkids, so I'm applying for Delta CSA - Ready Reserve. It's a minimum of 600 hours a year - 1,300max. No benefits, but flight privileges and DELTA - which we use for ID-90 now, out of Birmingham, UK, by way of KLM/Amsterdam. Delta's ComfortPlus is nice, but I will definitely choose First Class as an employee!

    • @TheBohemianTraveler
      @TheBohemianTraveler  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      DaVonne Wilson every airline is different, but generally speaking, you may do computer modules where you go through hours of computer training. You will read about safety, security and various terms and things that you need to know about how to work the ramp. Many times at the end of the course, there is a test to check your knowledge and understanding. You may also be at a computer and have a trainer lecture and go over the different things and then test you. It totally depends. It’s not rocket science, the main thing is just pay attention and you should get it. Congratulations on your new journey!

    Update: This Friday will be my LAST DAY of training at Envoy (American Eagle), after 4 (four, fore, for) weeks! Wife-Baby has taken advantage of my American Airlines flight privileges by flying from the U.K. for my B'day 4-15 and will probably return again in about a week. The GREAT news is that I have a Skype interview with Princess Cruise Lines, next Thurs, to be an Assistant Cruise Director - DJ. Glad for the Envoy gig, after the UA fiasco, but as you've stated, there is NO MONEY in working for an airline, on the Ramp! But at least we're getting ONE good flight from it!

    Greetings! I'm here with a Non-Rev question. Can I add my mother's live in partner on the non-rev dependent list? (I just went for fingerprinting, last week, and am standing by for getting my badge. Training is not supposed to begin until mid-Jan, so I'm hoping to get the badge, SOON, so I can get to England for Christmas, to join my wife. I still get a discount from my SWA retirement, but I'm looking forward to an even cheaper rate as UAL! Another question: What's the average tax that you've had to pay, going RT to Europe?

      SingMotown Karaoke Revue & Old School Dance Party
      Hello!!! London is the most expensive route because England charges a lot on taxes coming home. It costs about $172 roundtrip. The same trip to Paris is about $72. I know an agent that has their mom and stepdad on the benefits so I'm assuming that it's ok for you as well. Don't quote me though. Congrats on your new adventure!!!

      No, I'm married. My mother has a "partner" - (Old folks don't like to get married because it messes with their pensions & Soc. Sec!) Some airlines recognize partners as "spouses" as long as there is proof of co-habitation.

      Culture shock Life network it should be pretty easy to get a job in Atlanta because it’s Delta’s main hub. That’s my favorite airline! Keep applying! Let me know how it goes.

    Hello, I have been interested in a career in the aviation industry for the exact perk benefit you just expressed. but I am curious as to what positions that are offered for a person with some physical limitations (due to stroke)...or is it even a possibility...the plane cleaning seems like a position I could handle...please help with any info...also are there any disabled veteran programs or positions you are aware of?

    • @TheBohemianTraveler
      @TheBohemianTraveler  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      seljones33 Great question. I’m not exactly sure about the disabled veterans positions. But I’m assuming they have them because most jobs do. I’m thinking cleaning the plane or something in the corporate sector are not too physical. Maybe even a customer service agent. Get an airline job that still allow you to get perks. Call centers also and their credit unions may work for you as well. Anything in which you can work for the airline and get the benefits. God bless you guys in your journey!

      You have been very helpful Thank you...quick question do you have to be a ramp agent to clean the planes...as I watched your video that did seem to be the easiest job for me

    • @TheBohemianTraveler
      @TheBohemianTraveler  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      seljones33 At my station you do and it’s only 2 night planes. Most stations actually have cabin cleaners that do it. My station is unique in this regard

    Hey quick question if you are still working as a Ramp Agent. How about if you are single? Can you have a travel companion that gets the same benefits as Spouses would get. Since you are not married. In my case it would be my girlfriend.

    Well, I'm BACK! Last night I decided to submit an application for Envoy (AA's Regional) Airlines, when I saw that they get the same flight privileges as AA. I'm applying for Ops Agent, instead of the Ramp, this time! I had my interview with Chase Bank, two weeks ago and STILL haven't gotten a yay or nay. Job hunting at 55+ is no joke! I'm trying this, one mo' 'gain - for the flight privileges! AA codes shares with British Airways, so that would be "perfect!"

    • @TheBohemianTraveler

      SingMotown Karaoke Revue & Old School Dance Party Yes! You’re back! I think OPS would be a great fit for you. And Envoy is a great company because you get American benefits! So wonderful to hear this. Everything will work out for the best.

      Email invitation, came today, for hiring event on next Wed. I just sent the resume, last Friday. The email stated, to bring ID's, if hired for badging. I figured there'd be less red-tape with the regional subsidiary. Even though the pay is low, the flight bennies are a trade-off and I'll get my foot-in-the-door for AA. They also codeshare with British Airways, and I'd like to fly to the UK on them, for a change.

      Believe THIS - DIDN'T get the job for a Ground Control Agent! Was advised to reapply for the Ramp!!!! - I'll do it, put in a couple months to make money to ship my DJ equipment to England (via employee discount) and I'm off to start life anew in the U.K. with my wife! 4 year college degree is doing me no justice. I'm typecasted for the RAMP! SMH!!!
