The ship also tends to move very slowly over the big waves, so if the timing is wrong, you will end up sailing over them only to crash right into the rocks. When you sense that's about to happen, you need to withdraw the sails immediately and wait for the next one.
This guy did the whole sword training level without hitting any rocks. If you do hit a rock, it will make Jack vibrate and unable to move for a moment.

If you hit the "End" button on your keyboard (between the delete and the page down, right above the arrow keys) the game would give you the biggest handicap. Like 9/20 fruits sliced so you'd only need to slice one or placing you two jumps away from the finish line in the leaping game

As someone who played this many times, I disagree. As long as the ship doesn't land in the middle of the rocks, you should be safe. There is a bit of leeway for the ship to touch the sides of the sharp rocks without crashing. You just need to get a hang of how much the rocks can be covered by the waves for the ship to sail through, and that takes a little practice. In other words, this is NOT luck-based so there IS a reason how I got through that.
Not all games have to make sense and btw, this game is based on the very first episode of the series as it shows Jack training over the years to become a well-rounded warrior in order to defeat Aku...
