We got one of those 2 pound iron rods that h&r put in their 10 gauges and added it to the stock of my h&r 3.5” 12 gauge. We also drilled out the inside of the forend with a 3/8” bit and filled the holes full of .375 0000 buckshot to add weight up front too. Still kicks a lot worse than a 10 but is manageable. Gunpartscorp has the rods if you look up model 176 parts.
I’ve been watching a ton of your stuff. Love the show. I’d love to see a bismuth load that you can show me how to load in a 3 inch shell. 1 3/8 ton1.5 oz maybe? I’m new to loading.
Yeah, they use plated shot in those at least. It's really not hard to make a decent 40 yard lead turkey load likeyou showed... Slow speeds with a full length wad, buffered. Not rocket science.
I bought almost a case of that at Walmart 2 years ago for 599 a box in the 3-inch number five loads. It's still patterns pretty good out the 50 yards with my code black turkey choke tube. I've shot about a half a dozen birds with them so far and I don't think the farthest one was more than 15 yards. Seeing that wad explains why they don't hold a group with a squat. Even though they hold a pattern to 50 yards it's not that impressive as Winchester and federal turkey ammo.
I shot a 3 bearded tom at 65 yards with the 3.5. 4 shot remington nitro turkey load in and old 835 . Never shot the 5 shot could not fill the right side of my face for 30 min .
Kind of ridiculous if you ask me, shame on you Remington…. They also offer a 3” load that’s 1-7/8oz. Wonder what the payload is for that? Almost seems like they just put the poly pellets for filler to make a 3.5” shell. Makes sense since the crimp is so deep set. I think between the poly pellets and extra deep set crimp, that filled the 3.5” hull.
And they probably lied about the velocity on top of that. At least you got 10 shells in the box instead of 9.
The 3” version listed at 1 7/8 ounces is actually just a fuzz heavier believe it or not
awesome info
Thanks
Great video good info 👍🐿️
Thanks
Did alot of playing with turkey loads last year and i would choose even super pheasant through an extra full over these. Great video man!
Same here
I have a box of super pheasant should we compare them
@@joshgreer2324 that would be cool!
@@joshgreer2324 I’d like to do a breakdown video on one lol
Ahhh 3 1/2” turkey loads. I need to try some of these in my H&R single shot turkey gun. Nice soft load, light recoil… 😂 right…

You ever try reloading those low base remington hulls? If so what wads do you recommend as they dont seem to be your typical tapered rem hulls.
Which ones are you referring too?
Is that a Maxus scale? Amazon delivered one this morning and I've been trying it out today. I'm impressed so far.
I’m not sure of the brand but I got mine and one for my brother on Amazon

Great suggestion
The Premier shoot decent out to 40 yards. Was getting around 12-15 hits in the neck and head. I dont know how they are loaded-- never tore them apart
That’s actually pretty good

That’s what I gave for the 3” too
I think the 3" loads are even heavier than the 3.5", funny enough.
@@saltcreekammo yes. By a fuzz.
@@theshotgunscientists They are 1 7/8oz in 3”…To cheap to pass up for the money.
@@theshotgunscientists they would be good sandhill crane loads.
Ahhhh, a proper turkey load 😂
I consider them target loads for people who like a bit of recoil

Yeah they’re still capable out that far for sure

You nailed it lol exactly as I found too
The 3" shells weigh more, and shoot better 😂
Those are not plated copper wtf
Yep.
