I can say I train for the streets. Unironically, sort off. I have a manual labour job as a paver and I do additional training to perform better at my job and prevent injuries. Since I literally build the streets, I can say I train FOR DA STREETS!!!!
You can tell I FIGHT because of my expert TH-cam comment critique of pro-fighters and coaches. Ramsey you're doing that technique wrong, that wouldn't work in a real streetfight.
You guys don't know shit. Try that against war drones and see how well this shit works 😂. Love the content, keep it coming. As long as people are training [legitimately, whatever that means to each person], do what is most beneficial to your person. Certainly if you're teaching things that will get you or others seriously injured or worse, that is not what my perspective of "legitimately training" entails.
I went back to an old bullshido class that I trained at as a kid. They said "we train for the streets" and "MMA has too many rules and is for f***" "BJJ is stupid.". I put like white belt BJJ pressure on them and they had the biggest manchild tantrum I've ever seen. I'm tempted to do an undercover recording 😂
I've arrested hundreds of people over years of hands on loss prevention plus bouncing, did years of submission wrestling and kickboxing, AND I don't know how to fight because I've never been in a professional fight. I'm amazing at closing the distance and then putting someone to sleep or holding them until the cops come, but I've never entered a tournament with equal skilled people so I've never really tested my skills. I have no problem admitting that, and I often tell people I work with "I don't like violence."
That is a very interesting perspective. I’ve spoken to a lot of former bouncers who have done nothing but push drunk guys half their size around and because of that think they know how to handle themselves in every situation. It’s very cool to hear from a guy with a substantial amount of experience in similar situations who realizes his limitations. That’s very smart, and probably why you succeeded where you did to the degree that you did. An evenly matches opponent doesn’t sound like a big deal, but it’s honestly one of the hardest things anyone will ever do combatively. Someone worse? Meh, you’ll toy with them. Someone better? Meh, they’ll beat you, not much to say about that. But someone who is your equal? Oh boy. Now that is a real fight and a real test of wills.
@@RamseyDewey Well, sense they won't let me use a firearm at several yards away against an unarmed opponent,or they would insist on letting the Professional fighter fight back, I can't be UFC champion because of rules. As for my Street Fighting Resume? Does staying out of street fights count? Does understanding that I'm in my early 50's, have to go to work and make a living so theirfore have no interest in getting injured count? Now to be a bit more serious. I'm not really trained in any combat art and I am in the process of trying to get back on what would probably be considered a moderate exercise program to try and slow down the effects of aging. Having said that if I'm backed into a corner where I absolutely have to fight,I'll do what I can. But I'm not delusional enough to think I'm some kind of tough guy.
I excel at this. I drink about eight pints as a warm up, then I go to the ground I take two dudes with me, along with the buffet table, wedding cake, everything.
There are also it's offshoot styles of DBJ (Dutch beer-jitsu) and GBJ (German beer-jitsu). The last one very popular among U.S troops stationed in Germany.
Hello ramsey! I wrote you a comment, almost 2 years ago i think, asking how to spar in my taekwondo class. I was a yellow belt. I said some collegues were very weak and small (children) and the others were way bigger and better fighters than me. And you made a 5 minute video saying i should spar with everyone. Learn from the good ones, try stuff on the weaker ones. I took that advice and i got way better!! Im now a blue belt. I sparred a lot more (not as often as i would have liked, its still a taekwondo gym). I enjoy It a lot. Im still a weak fighter, but the the weaker collegues look up to me and the stronger ones dont need to hold back not to hurt me anymore!! I tried a competition. It was crushed. But i had a lot of fun. Thank you for you advice. Its been great to have you in mind in my martial arts hobby
As somebody who ist 722-1 in street Fights (that one was kimbo slice) i can say, Ramsey you dont know da streetz. We are a different breed when we see red, no hugging and cuddling on fancy mats like in MMA or BJJ. No pillows on the fists like in boxing!
"If you've been in more than a couple of street fights, you're the problem. You're definitely a menace to society, but you still don't know how to fight." Hilarious and true.
Nuh cuz I've been in 10,000 street fights but never started any of them, I always finish them though. You don't understand, some people are just completely wild and untamed before they get the sense knocked into them by me. Just because I have the spirit of all my fighting ancestors in me, just because I have the blood of a tiger coursing through my veins, doesn't make me the problem. You're lucky you didn't speak such ignorance in front of me cuz I'd just see red before you see black.
@@juanquintana2127 What does liking anime have to do with my ability to destroy you and every other human being in a fight? Well everyone except one person, the man whose name is synonymous with being the greatest fighter in the world, Chael Sonnen. So unless you're Uncle Chael you'd get your ass handed to you in a fight against me, quite literally, I've learnt an ancient technique that allows me to literally remove your anus and give it to you without spilling any blood. Maybe think next time before you insult anime in front of an anime fan with over 10,000 W's to their name.
mate I have seen red in a couple of boxing fights and it was the worst experience I have ever had, you get winded up real fast ,your punches and movements are inaccurate as fuck and when the rage is over you have a whole round to handle by blocking and clinching, all because you don't have any stamina left to throw any real punch
Fun fact: almost the entirety of ancient martial arts were weapons based martial arts. China is big and in ancient China, the wealthy and merchants would hire guards to travel with, as bandit raids were a thing and raiding a wealthy traveler or merchant could be fruitful for bandits. Many of these guards, especially those coming from highly regarded families that have been guards for generations, have been in actual lethal combat. So I'm willing to wager that the arts known by these families were indeed "deadly lethal killing systems". Same could be said about the arts known by renown warriors throughout history. I love mma and practice mma and idk about u guys, but there ain't no way I'd fight against someone who's been in lethal combat with weapons no matter how skilled I've become at modern martial arts
Once you introduce weapons to a fight the thing changes by default even if your opponent is unskilled. Weapons are by default designed to eliminate you. Doesn't mean they'll win but a weapon is always an advantage. There's also an inevitable difference between competitions and actual fights. In a competition you usually don't seek victory in the first 5 seconds. In a fight its gotta be quick. You can't call a time out or anything. Old style martial arts were probably focused on quick results. This isn't automatically good since stamina in a prolonged fight might actually be better for someone used to a competition style fight. But you gotta actually find a way to have a prolonged fight and wear down an opponent.
Well, modern martial arts have changed due to having being adapted to sports. That's the real problem. Weapons are weapons, ofc they're lethal, but when we're talking about bare hands combat martial arts were way more effective back then because they were studied to hit hard, not to score points and, most of all, not in a controlled environment. My opinion is: martial arts are effective, but have to be used the proper way. Most of those "do boxe, MMA is the real thing!" dudes don't realize that those useless ancient martial arts are literally blended in every style they use in those fights. If you do 50 karate katas per day you'll take one boxing punch in the face and fall down, but if you practice your martial art kick 100 times a day you'll kick the sh*t out of anyone who gives you the occasion to do so. And the same applies to boxe punches. That's it.
"but there ain't no way I'd fight against someone who's been in lethal combat with weapons no matter how skilled I've become at modern martial arts" I mean this mostly depends on the conditions, if it's an unarmed fight someone skilled at mma will probably win as they've trained for unarmed combat while the guy who's trained for armed combat mostly hasn't. if it's a fight with weapons obviously the guy who has trained with weapons will win barring some insane incompetence or difference in athleticism.
Learning how to fight well takes years. I train with BJJ and Muay Thai world champions as well as 30 plus year kung fu sifu’s. I’ll tell you this, you learn one step at a time and the path is long. It’s best to not worry about the destination, enjoy the ride. After a few years you’ll know your way around a little bit. In 10 you’ll have some skill. Good luck!
What i love is the number of idiots who think that because they watch Japanese anima cartoons they are now master martial artist, , actually had one guy ask me if i knew of someplace when he could buy a 100 pound weight sword , cause if he had a 100pd sword he could win all the fights. 😂😂
lol. I love #10. There’s one TH-camr who is constantly talking on his channel about his most recent street fight. So far he’s been “attacked” on the streets in broad daylight, in alleyways, in elevators, etc. My first thought was that this guy must live in some very dangerous area. Then he mentioned that he lives and owns a gym in Tokyo. I mean, if you’re getting into fights in Tokyo on a weekly basis, you’re absolutely the problem.
Hahaha! Thanks for sharing. That’s hilarious! I’ve been to Tokyo. Stayed there for a month. It was one of the nicest places I’ve ever been to. I’ve never even considered that someone might ever pick a fight with me there.
When someone says "it's just a sport", I ask them *"So if a pro Boxer punched you in the face, or a high level Wrestler slammed you on the ground, it wouldn't damage you at all because their style is a sport?"* Their argument is like saying "Usain Bolt is probably a slow runner in real life, because Athletics/Track and Field is just a sport." The sad thing is, no matter how much we try to educate people who believe in bogus practises, they will not budge. They'll always be there, saying "FO DA STREETZ" till the end of time. You can't win an argument against a stupid person.
I also love when people say " street fighter is ready to take a hit he is not afraid of getting hurt etc." It is like they trying to convince me that guy who trained boxing will be afraid of a punch to the face " cause street is not the same as ring".
@@davidgeldner2167The point is you cannot start comparing yourself to UFC fighters just because you beat a few mugs on the street who probably had zero skill.

Im a boxer, ive been hit bareknuckle and with gloves on,honestly bareknuckle hurts much more because of the speed of the punch, how light your fists are yet sharp your knuckles are,its basic physics, boxing gloves are fat and spongy to protect your hands and your opponent
My usual reply to the "pillows" comments is “remember that time we were playing basketball, you missed that long pass and ate the ball with your nose? Well, it's like that but with a fist inside the ball adding extra boom factor".
Late to the party... But there is some truth in that "pillow comment" odd enough. In boxing, depending on match and especially during training they use "puffier" gloves. A 16 glove does not hurt as bad as a 14 glove.
I "can't fight", but most people really really *really* can't fight. 😂 This has served me well enough in the handful of altercations that happened in my younger days. 😏
@@davidgeldner2167 Did he say that? I heard him say that people who put down "sports" and "classes" are the ones that don't know how to fight. I didn't recall him saying "if you haven't trained in a sport gym, you don't know how to fight" People that have experience fighting know that it is experience in fighting that makes you better at it, not the people that train in dancing and believe their mystical abilities are "too lethal" for the cage. He was making fun of traditional ma practitioners that insist they are "training for the street" and their magical art... Which they've never used against a resisting opponent... Is somehow better, while "sports" like MMA, BJJ, or even boxing don't teach you how to "SURVIVE THE STREETS!" Don't get all defensive over that, lol, I promise that a person that trains JUST BJJ will have a huge advantage over an untrained person "on the streets." I know this because I have a 20 year career "on the streets" and trained, used, and taught BJJ for others... Does that mean there aren't people that could whip my ass? Of course not. But we're talking odds here, and the odds of me getting beat up by a random person "on the streets" are astronomically low. There is not a single martial art that will keep you safe from blade or bullet, so it is important to be humble, and train LIVE. And it doesn't hurt to know a little gun-fu, where the law allows 🤣
@@davidgeldner2167 No martial art can defend you from multiple attackers. IDGAF what art you religiously follow. #23: If you think bareknuckle punches hurt less than gloved punches, not only you don't know how to fight, but you've never been in any kind of fight either.
Only a boxer would have this kind of knowledge, so how would this be a relevant gauge? More people fight and win fights without ever having trained or gloved up, so I mean, if that’s you’re basis…go ahead, just don’t be surprised when some ignorant mug knocks you out because you’re trying to remember your 23rd bs rule. And before you say “oh but they have a punchers chance” or “but street fights mostly happen with people who don’t train” idc. This is about fighting, not martial arts, or sports combat, or dancing. Fighting, while including techniques, also requires instinct aggression and actual imminent danger or an alerting situation (school fights for ex. Aren’t that dangerous, but alerting). Plenty of un-gloved people know this too well, without your b.s. anecdotal experience.
Ramsey, here's a fun story from somebody that doesn't know how to fight. Years ago I was studying Kenpo karate. One evening I was waiting at a bus stop when a young lady started talking to me. She had on an army jacket, fashionable at the time. A man came up and started to berate her for the jacket, when I commented that it was OK for her to wear it. Without any warning he turned toward me in one motion and punched me in the head. It wasn't much of a punch and only knocked off my glasses, and the lady immediately ran away. Since the man made no further motion toward me, I simply shrugged, picked up my glasses and walked to the next bus stop. Later when I told this story to a friend that knew I had trained in karate he said 'why didn't you pound him?'. I answered 'Are you kidding? He was like a guru to me! In 2 seconds he taught me more about paying attention than I learned from 3 years at the dojo!'.
I will say this about “training for the street”… I have done jujitsu on and off most of my life. Jujitsu is great especially against people that don’t train. But I think learning some stand up is very important and I wouldn’t go to the ground right away in a street fight if I could help it…
"Number 23: You tell me you don't know how to fight" I once had a guest come to the gym i was sparring at. He was there to see what kind of training we do but the instructor just thought he was someone from the regular class who'd just been recovering or been taking a break. He asked to go with me first and asked me to take it easy because he doesn't know how to fight. He said it so calmly and confidently that i thought he was just taking a piss at me. I asked him to go light with me since we haven't sparred before and i don't know him. The dude just said he "doesn't know what that means". I froze then and there thinking i'm about to have my teeth kicked in. Luckily once the clock beeped for the timer to start he very quickly and very clearly looked like he did in fact not know what he was doing... ...and i felt like an idiot 😅
When I really think about it this deadly grappling stuff becoming the "how to actually fight" motto is kind of what leads me to just thinking I'd rather shoot anyway. It's funny because it's not easy to put into words. Getting knocked out by some dude in a street fight I wanted to be a part of is obviously not something I'd want to happen, but I could deal with it. If this dude is trying to put me in a sleeper or break a limb etc, something about that for me is just like nah that's another level right there. That's someone turning a fist fight into some kind of life or death situation. So then if all fights are treated as life or death situations I might as well not even try to fight then. That sounds like close range action for suckers.
Take a bow !!! I saw this video title and was immediately filled with joy. Your analysis exceeded my STRATOSPHERIC expectations. Appreciate all you do !!!
Bruce Lee was an actor, whose main focus was to look cool. His focus wasn't in being a good fighter. That being said, He'd always get whooped hard by Gene Lebell (because Bruce was a midget).
I sometimes forget to breathe and sometimes I help my friends remember to breathe. And I agree with what you say about fighting with or without footwear. Love your content and positivity in the fighting community!
I got into a lot of fights when I was a kid and pretty much lost all of them. Then I got into wrestling and then martial arts but weirdly enough got into not one single fight after I did.
My favorite: “doesn’t matter i don’t need to learn striking i can just wrestle everyone” also, “yeah but if you do that I’ll just ______ (insert BS here)”.
Beside, people who say that probably have never train in wrestling either. Just to execute a double leg or sweep cleanly is not something you master in a matter of a week.
I once met a dude who said he could beat me in a fight. He asked me what I would do against him, and I said something along the lines of "Well, I'd go for my jab, cause it's the most important punch", making a small jab motion as I said it. He then said "Oh, but if you do that I'll just parry it", and slaps my hand down. He also told me "If you know boxing, why don't you hit that metal pole over there?". He was a big guy, but his ego was even bigger.
A lot of these I've never heard anyone say but i do come across people who think they can take pro boxers without having any type of training in a martial art. One guy said, "I'm pretty quick" Doesn't matter because a good boxer will slip any punch you have..
If I didn't know how to fight the 1st 2 styles I would learn and train in would be BJJ & Boxing .. 80% KOs are by hand and 90% of fights end up on the ground
Your frustration is palpable. I'm sorry for you that you've exposed yourself to this "special kind of stupid". I guess it comes with the territory. Been watching your vids for years, man, big love!
#6 with the breathing is something I have always struggled with since I started training in the 80s. I've only been in one confrontation since I started training in 1986. Once back in the 90s. my wife's grandmother who was in her 60s, and had a history of physical violence tried to stab me in the stomach with a kitchen knife. She used the basic thrust that people say no one ever does, and I used the basic wrist lock that people say would never work on "Da Streetz". The hardest part is what no one teaches you, and I had to apply on the fly, which was disarming an old lady without damaging her wrist. All those years of drills came into play. Not to defend myself, but to be calm enough to keep in mind that I could not injure her no matter what she tried to do to me. What's a trip is not one member of her family asked me about it, not even once. I was expecting some kind of '"What did you do????", but there wasn't one word. I asked my wife about it a few months later, and she just said they already knew crazy she was.
That sucks man, bizarrely enough, I was attacked by an elderly man myself, for sticking up for my dogs when walking them in my neighborhood. Also managed to handle the attack with 0 harm to both of us (or my doggies). Definitely, no one and nothing prepares you for the scenario of physically and safely handling a violent elderly person.
Oh yeah breathing is important. Our instructor would have us breathe every time we threw a strike or applied a technique. Basically just like in the Kiai in karate, but we didn't yell. Just exhaled, like we were trying to fog a mirror.
That last part is wonderful. The fact that no one made you feel like you had to answer to them means you had nothing to worry about for defending yourself. What a relief to read that.
And of course if you're going to fight in an uncontrolled environment, then their level of training is a somplete unknown to you until after it's too late for you to back out.
or how drugged up they are....just look at that home invasion story with Anthony Smith, dude said it was the hardest fight of his life, and think about the absolute beasts this man has fought in the cage to compare that to
Also, even though I have done martial arts most of my life, and always would seek out people better than me so I was always growing, has taught me a important lesson..... Never gamble your martial arts ability to save the life of your loved ones against dangerous people, get a firearm. I cant count the amount of times I have been unsuspectingly beaten by a better fighter who I thought for sure I could beat.
@@patheddles4004 In uncontrolled environments(As in a serious competition, but for different causes) you always sink to your base level of training. This is why drilling and repetition are so important.
I train for the streets. We just had a winter repeat itself after a couple of days of spring, da streetz be slippery AF. Good thing I never skip breakfall day. 💪
The best video of a street fight I’ve ever seen was from a alleged pro-boxer against a whole group of attackers who he managed to knock out one by one through excellent spacial awareness and by always making sure he was facing them one at the time. Was really demonstrative and educational, quite a thing to see 👍
Thanks Ramsey that was really funny. I honestly don't think I fall into any of those 22 categories but you are quite right - I don't know how to fight!
I think hands are vital but I did do surprisingly well sparring a pro boxer by kicking his legs. I think being kickboxing prime vs boxing prime is viable. Now if he wanted to whoop me I'm sure he could have. I was just wacking him enough that it wasn't worth it. He just dropped by my MMA gym because he knew my coach - he visited occasionally en route to fights in southern FL.
I had good kicks at one point and I really worked on my hands. My friends would ask me why would I do that if I could kick so well because they wouldn’t. I didn’t really have a good explanation at the time. Thinking back I think I just knew there’s going to be times I can’t kick someone in the head and I didn’t want drastic holes in my style. Edit: Bear in mind I was like twelve at the time 😂 I wasn’t like 22 not understanding basic fight concepts
Ancient martial arts used steel/metal weapons. A lot of kung fu stances were for handling weapons. A lot of the ancient weapon moves have been modified for grappling or unarmed striking Purposes. So a lot of ancient moves were used for spears , swords, bows and arrows, sabers, daggers, and axes.
I train for membership with Alpha Flight. I come out of the Weapons Plus program and used to work for the Canadian government. I’ve seen it all, trust me. I train for world ending threats
I have trained in K'un Lun, K'un Zi, and Peng Lai and have yet to amount to anything. I should have just gone to be lab tested in a Weapons Program. ☹️
Its amazing that all these years later there's still people like this out there. I remember having these arguments with people in the late 90's. It must have been around that time I saw a guy who had about 6 months BJJ experience take down a life long Wing Chun practitioner in a "friendly" sparring match. Instead of the WC guy coming to the realisation that he needed to look into grappling, he decided he needed to do more WC. It was also around that time that "anti grappling" gurus started putting out content in which they supposedly demonstrated techniques to defeat grapplers.
This is great and so true. Admittedly I have often used the expression "pressure testing" but in my defense I always thought it synonymous with sparring.
To be fair, I think the point is it should be. Since the 2 terms got associated with different groups and "pressure testing" is presumably used to be more easily understood by someone with no prior knowledge, that's why it makes the list.
I might be wrong, but based on Dewey's tone and inflection, compared to how he is normally composed, it seems that someone specific must have gotten under his skin. I do agree with him on pretty much all of them. The one I slightly disagree with, might not actually be a disagreement because of the way he worded it. I don't believe in any secret ancient styles that are more effective than anything today. But I do believe that in certain styles, 20 to 30 years ago those particular schools trained a little harder, and probably put out more effective fighters. It's probably due to how litigious society has become. Other than that, I agree with the list.
Same. I’ve been training since 1986, and even though I’ve been attacked once, I’ve never been in a street fight, not even once. I stayed out of trouble.
😂😅😂 Great video man! I admit, u got me on the street fighting thing. I know I can't fight. Thanks for the smile as I sit in my car waiting to go spar Muay Thai!
I passed all your 22 tests, however I still don't feel like I know how to fight! The more you know, the more you realize you don't know! It's a catch 22 for sure!
Hello Ramsey, great video! No. 6 really hit home for me. I hear this all the time from my instructors: “You need to control your breathing” (I practice CLF Kung Fu and BJJ) Can you please make a video about this topic? Thank you! 😉
It seems that Ramsey has been holding these in for a while lol, it kept building up and building up and finally he had enough haha Ramsey ! I love it, probably my favorite video so far ! Keep doing it brother
I literally saw a comment where a guy said he can beat Belal Muhammad... i mean i get it that people think he is boring and stuff, but i can't believe an average Joe would think they stand a chance against him, like are we fr now ? People really need to understand how big of a gap there is between us and those MMA fighters, it's such a big gap of power and speed and just sheer superiority in both physical and mental abilities, Belal Muhammad would literally end that man's life in seconds.
So many folks be sayin Bruce’s name in vain. He was ahead of his time on grappling too, it was in his combat system. Not on par with BJJ today, no, but his stand up was out of this world
MMA is the art of being average at a lot of things and a master at none. this is why an MMA fighter would lose to a puncher in a punches-only match, or lose to a kicker in a kicks-only match, or lose to a grappler in a grappling-only match. a guy whos been doing ONLY boxing for 1 year would demolish a guy whos trained everything for 1 year but can't do any of it very good. look at the punches in MMA once they are in punching range they swing their arms around like mad men. seen better punch technique outside the pub on a saturday night. you should master one art first. is silly to say to a great boxer they don't know how to fight if they can't do BJJ. yes they can! they can knock out most people and the chances of them crossing paths with an expert grappler on the street and getting taken down is super super small.
I agree with everything you said EXCEPT the blanket statement about pressure testing. You can do both sir. Sparring and also pressure testing certain techniques.
I know that I don't Know how to fight, but I listen to Ramsey and I get out there and train my peaceful Martial arts, I fight for my heath. I respect and admire all those who know how to fight.
#21 I kind of understand. MMA certainly requires skills that are also useful in a fight, but it removes some dangers that would be very real threats in a real fight. The two most obvious being groin and back of the head strikes
Sure, but an untrained person would never be able to land a groin strike anyway. And they definitely will never see the back of a trained fighter's head. A trained fighter wouldn't just forget that that there are no rules.
Caveat that I don't know how to fight myself, but I've heard that groin strikes are usually ineffective because they are painful rather than debilitating, and strikes to the back of the head probably require openings that fighters would guard against for other reasons. Biting, eye-gouging, and fishhooks, on the other hand, seem likely to make some sort of difference in a clinch or during wrestling, I would be interested to hear more about that.
I'd say the most obvious dangers IRL that MMA doesn't prepare you for are the knife/gun that gets pulled on you, or the three friends your opponent has, or the eager prosecutor in your town that wants to send you to prison for assault.
Very good points, especially the one about fighting instinctively. The best techniques are counterintuitive, don't come naturally and take a lot of practice to master.

Yupp, colorblind people are better fighters.
That's it.
Well, yes. Going unarmed with MMA against a trained killer with a weapon is automatically a game changer.
"but there ain't no way I'd fight against someone who's been in lethal combat with weapons no matter how skilled I've become at modern martial arts"
I mean this mostly depends on the conditions, if it's an unarmed fight someone skilled at mma will probably win as they've trained for unarmed combat while the guy who's trained for armed combat mostly hasn't. if it's a fight with weapons obviously the guy who has trained with weapons will win barring some insane incompetence or difference in athleticism.

Not knowing how to fight is also relative to how trained the person you are fighting is, so this changes in every situation.
And of course if you're going to fight in an uncontrolled environment, then their level of training is a somplete unknown to you until after it's too late for you to back out.
Pretty much. Compared to an actual high level athlete, a gym warrior would look like a dude from the street.
or how drugged up they are....just look at that home invasion story with Anthony Smith, dude said it was the hardest fight of his life, and think about the absolute beasts this man has fought in the cage to compare that to
Also, even though I have done martial arts most of my life, and always would seek out people better than me so I was always growing, has taught me a important lesson.....

Was really demonstrative and educational, quite a thing to see 👍
This is like the bizzaro martial arts version of “You might be a redneck if” by Jeff Foxworthy. But seriously it’s a well done video, coach.
#23- Turn your back to opponent when taking hits.
I was so guilty of doing that when i was new
Best ASMR I've listened to, thanks
I have watched countless of Ramsey Dewey videos, and yet i couldn't predict reason number 1
Thanks Ramsey that was really funny. I honestly don't think I fall into any of those 22 categories but you are quite right - I don't know how to fight!
The boxing one is too true. People get frustrated because i outbox them. "Use the fancy kicks". Nah, learn to box
This is factual. Most martial artists have trouble dealing with good boxing.
It depends most boxers let you low kick their thighs for free you just gotta stay away from their punching range
@@DeeBeeScribeboxing is a martial art too lol. But you're right. Your average joe martial artist usually has bad hands and 0 head movement.
I really need to get back to training. thanks for the inspiration.
I always believed "Pressure Tests" means "Sparring".
i've never heard that term. maybe i just need to watch more DUST.
This Man is killing me with his delivery!😂
This is great and so true. Admittedly I have often used the expression "pressure testing" but in my defense I always thought it synonymous with sparring.
To be fair, I think the point is it should be. Since the 2 terms got associated with different groups and "pressure testing" is presumably used to be more easily understood by someone with no prior knowledge, that's why it makes the list.
@@ApothecaryTerry that makes sense.
@@torstenscott7571 Thanks - something I said today had to make sense 😁
@@ApothecaryTerry you're welcome.
You had me on board until “Jits” 😂
Same here lol
I might be wrong, but based on Dewey's tone and inflection, compared to how he is normally composed, it seems that someone specific must have gotten under his skin. I do agree with him on pretty much all of them. The one I slightly disagree with, might not actually be a disagreement because of the way he worded it. I don't believe in any secret ancient styles that are more effective than anything today. But I do believe that in certain styles, 20 to 30 years ago those particular schools trained a little harder, and probably put out more effective fighters. It's probably due to how litigious society has become. Other than that, I agree with the list.
I thought jujitsu was folding laundry, just people are still wearing the clothes
Been training martial arts most of my adult life and I NEVER get into street fights.
Same. I’ve been training since 1986, and even though I’ve been attacked once, I’ve never been in a street fight, not even once.
I stayed out of trouble.
My entire goal as a martial artist is to stay OUT of street fights.

Great video man!
I admit, u got me on the street fighting thing. I know I can't fight. Thanks for the smile as I sit in my car waiting to go spar Muay Thai!
"We can fight about it, but you don't know how to fight" had me dying laughing :D

1 - Admitting that you are a student of “Master Wong”. That is the first sign. Lmao 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
No matter what technique Master Wong teaches you it is the "Wong way"
The only reason you think those street fighting resumes are crap...is because you haven't heard mine yet! 😂
Good drinking game: every time Ramsey says fight - drink! You're welcome! Stay hydrated 😉😉
I passed all your 22 tests, however I still don't feel like I know how to fight! The more you know, the more you realize you don't know! It's a catch 22 for sure!
I don't really know how to fight, but I ponder on being really really good at cheap shots. It helps me sleep better at night.
I am guilty of calling it "the jits"
lol
dudes from Colorado call it "jits"
Hello Ramsey, great video! No. 6 really hit home for me. I hear this all the time from my instructors: “You need to control your breathing” (I practice CLF Kung Fu and BJJ) Can you please make a video about this topic? Thank you! 😉
I have made several.

It seems that Ramsey has been holding these in for a while lol, it kept building up and building up and finally he had enough haha Ramsey ! I love it, probably my favorite video so far ! Keep doing it brother
All these are so true.
Thanks for sharing your wisdom Mr Dewey.
Way number 23: but I'm 260 bro
I think Ramsey just wants to trigger everyone he can 😂
21 of those do not apply to me but I still do not know how to fight.
😂 right lol
I literally saw a comment where a guy said he can beat Belal Muhammad... i mean i get it that people think he is boring and stuff, but i can't believe an average Joe would think they stand a chance against him, like are we fr now ? People really need to understand how big of a gap there is between us and those MMA fighters, it's such a big gap of power and speed and just sheer superiority in both physical and mental abilities, Belal Muhammad would literally end that man's life in seconds.
So many folks be sayin Bruce’s name in vain. He was ahead of his time on grappling too, it was in his combat system. Not on par with BJJ today, no, but his stand up was out of this world
You can tell I can’t fight because
A - I’m old
B - How fast I can run away despite my age
“B” above tells me that you are actually a knowledgeable master of self defence. Smart.
@@markd.9538 B is how I got to be A
@@markd.9538running can't always save you
Actually, B makes you a trained master. If you can run away when a fight is going to kick off, you know how to preserve yourself.
Bro is on to nothing
@@tonywilder5794 whos gonna tell a prime mike tyson he doesn't know how to fight because he didn't attend some BJJ classes... probably no one

LET'S GOOOOOO RAMSEYYYYY
Tbh your average Joe would get decimated by a competent mma fighter.
@@denisl2760 Hahahahahahahahahahahaha.
I'd say the most obvious dangers IRL that MMA doesn't prepare you for are the knife/gun that gets pulled on you, or the three friends your opponent has, or the eager prosecutor in your town that wants to send you to prison for assault.
There is one thing Wong with this list
I absolutely LOVE your "put your feet on the ground" videos. 😊
Very good points, especially the one about fighting instinctively. The best techniques are counterintuitive, don't come naturally and take a lot of practice to master.
Street fighting is a great way to get a criminal record, look stupid, and never get hired again.
Training for the streetz is like saying you pour milk before cereal.
Is... is wrong to pour the milk first?
@@kevinlobos5519 YES
Pouring the cereal first allows you to maximize the amount of cereal that can fit in the bowl.
If you want more milk, you can pour a glass.
You’re a street ngga cuz u fight
Agree with most except not being able to beat a ufc fighter. I’m 6’3 250lbs. Idk who it is, any man 170 and lower gives me their lunch money all day. I go grizzly mode and it’s pretty scary. All techniques and shit goes out the window for my opponents. I’m a savage.
I’m 6’1” and 230lbs, I’m a retired professional fighter and life long martial artist with multiple black belts… and there are still little guys who could school me on my best day.
A man putting on his armor for war should not speak as one returning from the battlefield.
Lol
>I go grizzly mode
But do you see red?
I do have a temper that I hone in fights. My friends and opponents call it my “Cheat Code” because when I get angry, combined with my skills, I’m a savage. Not tryna brag and I respect the original video and what he says. But some things are just facts.
Rage bait
hahaha. I agree with you sir! I hear these things from people, and I chuckle. Not because I am some great fighter, but because I do understand what it means to learn to fight
