For sporty guys, you can literally reach Lake Como from Milan by bicycle. Some parts are pretty hard, some tough slopes, but the outlook is spectacular. If you are in good shape, with a good pace and if you don't stop in about 3 hours you could get there.
I agree with everything you said! I am a planner too and my husband and I will be spending 5 days in Lake Como next May. Our accommodation is already booked and I will be making restaurant reservations and booking activities as early as I can! Great advice for anyone looking to visit during the peak season! ❤
