Whitney next time mix your flavors with the water that you measured that way you won’t change your measurements. Also powder your entire hand before handling so it won’t stick to you so much. Don’t give up! Happy New Year!
I think the problem is, is that you used a wet measurement cup for the dry ingredients you were supposed to use a dry measurement cup

Good rule of thumb guys, measure dry ingredients like sugar, flour, cornstarch etc in actual measuring cups. And measure wet ingredients such as water, milk, oil etc in the glass or plastic container (that has the measurement printed up the side) with handle.

Actually, if you use the first batch, you could stuff it with things like a real strawberry. Or some peanut butter, or Nutella 😋 it compliments the mochi well since it’s not too sweet! It’s how we make mochi in Hawaii!
