this is why low sub boardgame reviews are far more indepth and entertaining because they have the passion to review the games they like. unlike big channels aka dice tower who feels like soulless sausage factory
What a great overview and start. Well done. A couple of things I would like to add. 1. In winter you also take damage in the mountains. 2. To remember your last type of skill you bought, just list developments on the back of the character sheet or on the web app. 3. When spending development points. Once finished, you can only ever raise it 1 more point. So if you have 4 base and the max is 6. If you put no points in it, it will not get past 5. 4. Perception is used for initiative, (critical). Also this and Dex can be increased by equipment and spells. 5. 5 characters. Wow. I am running four and find it enough. Hope it goes well. If not, just reduce it. 6. As said. Do look at the race and class restrictions Please keep up the series. I am enjoying this.
thank you! I find some of this to be a slog and some parts to be excellent. I think the safe zone concept and how to move through a dungeon to be brilliant and every dungeon crawler should use something similar
You have excellent rule knowledge and a great video. I learn more and more from you and enjoy the videos too. Am so far behind. Hope you do not mind me pointing out things
I’m impressed you’re taking this on solo controlling 5 characters, although I think it’s flexible enough that you could reduce the number of characters if it gets too much. I believe the icons on missile weapons are how many damage dice you roll, not the roll to hit, which is based on 2d6 + your shooting skill + modifiers to pass a shooting test of 10 or more. There’s also some suggested race restrictions on classes as well that you might want to check out.
Fantastic presentation and introduction of DUN. I'm waiting for my copy to arrive - hopefully in the next weeks- so this video is super helpful. Thanks!
"I'm Jeff. I make mistakes all the time." I'm also Jeff and I understand. This game looks awesome but I already have so many campaign games and war games. It's hard getting another big box game. But I know I'd like it...
I just found your channel from this video. You have some of the same games as me and that's worth a Sub. I also have so many games to play through. I'm trying to decide between Dungeon Universalis, Chronicles of Drunagor, Sword and Sorcery Ancient Chronicles, Oathsworn, and many others. They all showed up within a month of each other. I know, 1st world problems.
It really depends on your tastes. I think they all bring something awesome and something exhausting to the table. This one is rules bloat. Plus the overland map is boring and not fun. The dungeons themselves are excellent. Character creation excellent. Mages are needed way too much.
"There's a rule for everything!" Well, it is called Dungeon _Universalis_ . 😁 Just jettison or simplify the rules that are too boggy? 🤔 This looks really cool though!
great video needs more views. Old school is the best school! You also are a hard core min/maxer..lol. I just pick and go!! lol. Would it be imbalanced if you house ruled alignments and chose classes of both good and evil for the same party?
House rules for this game is difficult. Because it is balanced the way it was designed. Take one thing away, then you have to give the game something back.
Very helpful. I was thinking of backing it, but now I see that it does not do what I wanted. For a lot of character options I have my 3.5 toolkit, and as for the rest, it's still not quite there. I just don't think I can justify the cost if I will be house ruling so much...
HaHaHaHa. That killed me. 1:37:00 into the video, haven't even chosen character concepts, and you say, "I'm starting to get a little long winded"? Hilarious
It seems like more of a game system than a game. If you don’t want to worry about furniture height when drawing line of sight, don’t worry about it. In the end it doesn’t really impact the game in a meaningful way. If you’re hung up on adhering to every rule and all minutia, i can understand why it may not be a great fit. Appreciate the time you invested in making the video!
You touched on the heart of a review if I gave one. I hate some of the rules. And, yes, I would toss them in a heart beat. But then the difficulty of campaigns change and can become imbalanced. Also, if making a TH-cam video, people complain you aren’t following the rules. A lot. Haha.
Well i would give a sh** about the complaining dudes… play as you like… i see it like a sandbox umd you as player can choose whatever you want… so go for it.👍🏻
Its an utter mess of a game. Truly a labour of love for the creators but it really isn't very well designed. All over the place and doesn't do anything new or better than other, older, games and often does things a lot worse. Was lucky to be able to get rid of mine.

Thanks for putting these videos up. These have been incredibly helpful in learning the game for us native English speakers!

Man great job on the video. You seem as excited as I would be
Mine arrived yesterday. Coffee in hand. Watching to learn how to setup and play

Best review and nice explanation

Jettisoning rules creates play imbalance. I'm not saying it is impossible, but you have to be willing to tweak a lot

I initially loved it. Now it is on my for sale list
@@jtfike Jeff what has made you sell this one?
Thanx for the video, really helpfull!

100s of hours?
I'll need another pot of coffee.
👍
wow, just seen how many videos you have made already. I have my work cut out catching up. I accept the challenge. You have been busy.

I agree. I loved what it was trying to do at first but as I played it, my love waned. Mages were nerfed really bad.
