I'm a Glasgow girl for the same city as Gerry and for me these are just super relatable lyrics! Also the way he plays is all on his own, he uses a loop pedal and that's it! 👍💙
the backstory is growing up in scotland, he sings housing scheme life, i admire him cos he dun lie, drinking cider on golf coure, prolly shroom season. he does dress up a platypus n call it an aardvark.
Story telling and lyrics at there very best. You don't know how good this man is. A modern poet who simply describes the working class with music!! Genius .
Fully get what you are saying Ty. First time hearing this and I got this mental image of driving in the the country on a warm summers afternoon, all the windows wound down, wind blowing your hair, sun shinning and getting the smells of grass, flowers and earth. What a great song, will be adding this to my playlist.
Glaswegians always support their own, I'm a Glaswegian and therefore I support Gerry all the way, and I love his music, happy coincidence ha ha. You may want to listen to John Rush, he's a great Glaswegian musician maybe start with Sister.
Gerry Cinnamon is a great Scottish export. Check out Belter as another of his. I "discovered" him about 3 years ago when you tube suggested I'd like him....have a dozen or so of his tracks on my play list. His lyrics can be pretty dark but ultimately they are about overcoming the shit. Suggestion.... do a twofer (2 for 1) reaction to Archie Roach's Took The Children Away .... and the Briggs' The Children Came Back.... written decades apart one is Archie's story of being part of the Stollen Generations and the Briggs's response is a skiphop (Aussie hip hop) celebration of Yorta Yorta people (Yorta Yorta are first nations tribe from the Shepparton area of Victoria). Actually check out any Archie Roach, he is brilliant and was the 2020 Australian of the Year.... personal faves are Walking Into Doors, Down City Streets, One for Each Person and One for the Pot, I Lied, there are just so many.
You really need to check out Gerry Cinnamon live, if you haven't already. Start with Lullaby at Barrowland (aka The Barras). Then work up to Gerry at the TRNSMT festival in Glasgow and the Sold Out gigs he recently did this year at Hampden Park in Glasgow. Æ
Didn't you hear the triangle hahaha too funny lad, great reaction, from scotland so I heard this round about when it first came out, takes me back to my teenager days up the braes with the team, simple times.
You need to check out more of his songs, most are available with lyrics, if you struggle with scottish acent. But, check some live versions to see what this guy is all about, you will not be disappointed. He was supposed to tour the US last year but covid cost you the experience.
Sorry, just posting this to the few channels that I subscribe to. Just had an epiphany. For the last many years, I have totally forgotten about the Squirrel Nut Zippers until cleaning out my garage and finding the CD! They were never big Pop stars, but very good musicians. My favorites are their contracted version of "Under the Sea (Disney)" and their original "BEDBUGS", but they have many others. Horns and Strings galore! It is jazzy, Haitian/Voodoo, and sometimes Eastern Euro Block. I would suggest not the live versions because so many of those were drunk-fests (can attest). PEACE
Awr right troops it's SCOTLAND GLASGOW 🏴👌💭💭💭💭✌️Fucking brilliant wee chap right check out Glasgows paolo nutini, Gerry Rafferty, Travis, franz ferdinand, lulu, rod Stewart 🤫🤭🤣fucking 💯percent scottish, oh aye check oute Texas

I had nerver heard this before, the music was just kinda chill, it was ok but it wont hurt my feelings if i never hear it again or if i just hear it sometimes......
This was cool! Really reminded me of early New Wave from 80’s, & just chill… very much in the vein of Joy Division or the band The XX… i really enjoyed this! I love hearing something new 🖤😊🖤
