I just wish they'd also learnt from The Cure, to widen their musical scope and not be defined by one particular genre. Simply be Slowdive as Robert and co are simply The Cure.
I wondered about that as well. The original song is from the 1970s. Look up "Syd Barrett - Golden Hair" on YT. That's why the lyrics are completely different than Slowdive's lyrical style. It's pretty amazing how Slowdive made this epic instrumental piece based off that short song from the early 70s.
