I think this is a good format of video for when you need a little time between project videos. You could keep a folder full of questions to draw from and whenever you need a break from crafting, or a project is taking longer than expected, make a video answering a few crafting questions.
Exactly! I really like hearing and seeing your thoughts on other's questions. It helps with my own issues and getting out of my own head to think a different way. This would be a good once in a month or two kind of mental stretching for all of us.
I like the idea, and hope you make more of this format! ^^ Maybe I have a question for you, too, some day. ^^ (I have this dress-project in mind for a looooong time but can't find the corage to start it....)
One piece of advice that has always stuck with me (not even sure where I heard it) was “If you don’t feel like yourself, try to do something for someone else and see how you feel” It’s worked well for me whether I’m stressed, burnout or even just grumpy. This video was so fun and reminded me of that 😊 you’re so sweet to help people out!
OMG the CREPE SKIRT! I had no idea I even needed that in my life, thank you for that adorableness! Also, this is a fun, relaxed format; it lets us get to know you a bit better, and we might learn things we didn't know we didn't know. 😘
This was a fun video to watch and I’d be happy to see more of them. For the person who had trouble figuring out where to start, sometimes when I have that issue, I make a little work flow chart starting with the final product and work backwards. This is especially useful if it’s a big project with a lot of pieces. For instance, I made an outfit for my kiddo for a special occasion that was a dress shirt and wide leg trousers. For the trousers, the step before “done” was “sew the hem” and before that it was “mark the hem while she’s wearing dress shoes” and that’s when I realized she didn’t have dress shoes that worked for this outfit, so “buy dress shoes” needed to be added in somewhere before marking the hem, and so on. Usually I’ll get to a point where I’ve worked backwards far enough that it’s clear what’s the best thing to start doing and I no longer feel paralyzed.
Great format!! It helps us all get out of the 'oh no I ran into a problem and now I have to tackle it' paralysis. Definetly keep doing it please! Also how dare you call us out on our hoarding. We need the things. Yes, all of them.
When I first started sewing I was 12 years old, my grandmother asked me what I wanted to make, and I told her I wanted a pair of gold lamé wrap pants. I do not know why she agreed to make gold lamé wrap pants with a 12 year old but that is not a beginner fabric at all! 😆
This probably doesn't apply to everyone, but, I think it might apply to some of us that adore you and your channel unconditionally without reservation. I put this comment on your burnout video, but, that was 2 weeks ago, and TH-cam hates me and didn't let me know, so I'm only seeing it now, and I want you to know that there are likely a group of followers like myself that are just happy to see you doing ANYTHING. I would watch video of you playing with cat using laser pointer and catnip. I think many of us watch you for you, and it really doesn't matter what you do, just that you are you and you are doing YOU. Take us shopping. Give us a historical tour of fashion as YOU understand it in some place you love and find interesting in France. It can be the same thing that's been covered by 27 dozen hundred billion other "creators", but, those others are not YOU, and I want to watch YOU. Show us your favorite sleazy dive bars, and ratty unknown coffee shops that smell too much of patchouli and sweaty hippies. Invite us to a game night where we get to watch you and some consenting friends play stupid board games, or DnD, rollerskate through a town like feral banshees. We don't care WHAT you do, so long as YOU are doing it, because we watch you because of YOU, not entirely because of what you do.
There are two things I absolutely LOVE about this channel - the emphasis on upcycling/repurposing, and the 'why not try it?' attitude. It makes for some really inspiring content :D
To anyone struggling with wigs, braids are your best friend!! Some french braids that go around your head would be ideal BUT if they are too complicated you can always just do 2 normal braids just above your ears and wrap those around the front of your head ❤
Yes! Braids can give a very good base to pin into and are a good way to evenly distribute long hair. To add volume, make small flat buns, braided or just pinned, on top of your head add height while also giving you a good place to work in long bobby pins. If you place your bun(s) near the center top of your head, or at least forward of the back 'corner' of your head it can also help balance heavy wigs so they don't feel like they are dragging backward as much. If anyone is still reading, my last advice is to look up "wig clips" and sew a few into your wig cap near the top edges where there is a stable spot. Wig clips are special version of metal click-y barrettes that have teeth to grip your hair even better. Sew them in with the teeth pointed away from the hairline for best results!
Yes this. I must have a weird headshape because these bands never stay on my head, so I do some braids and pin the wig to them. Took a few experiments on how to get the best result, but now I can literally headbang in my wigs. (I don't because it's horror to untangle the wig afterwards XD but I did once.)
Comment for the ALGORITHM! This is such a lovely format, I really like it. I think it would be a great video to put out in between big projects, though they do not always have to be big. (I really enjoyed the piano skirt video.) Maybe you could even do a vlog format, where you do a question, work on your upcoming project, do a question, work on an upcoming project. Or even do little things, like mending or tiny house projects. Or it could just be answering questions. Whatever is easiest. You are a very experienced costumer and hearing your opinion on these projects is super helpful and interesting for me. Lots of love and healing!
I am glad to see you doing better What a lovely idea of format. It was interesting. I would watch a second one. I hope it's popular & we can see a cameo, or review of your past creativity & hear your new ideas. PS Delightful cat cameo.
This was fun!! Enjoyed the questions and feedback 😊 I believe many people have the same or similar questions so it's a win-win-win 🙌🏻 And yes, no video is truly complete without not-your-cat 😻😺
For the "my wigs keep slipping off" question, one other trick to try is to put your hair up in braids or pin curls before you put on the wig cap so that you have a lot of things for the hair pins/bobby pins to grab onto (which is why I prefer wearing mesh wig caps, easier to adhere the wig with one of those than with the stocking caps). That's a trick you won't see as much from drag queens since most of them have very short natural hair (aka, too short to make this trick work) so I'd also recommend looking up videos of how black women wear wigs since they might have longer hair and they're also wearing wigs for far more hours in a day than a drag performer!
@@AnniCarlsson Do a gluten free version. My mom is a celiac, and gluten makes me break out in hives. There are so many gluten free batter mixes nowadays, you really don't have to miss anything! 😄💟
TBH, I suck at mending, but I'm less bad at sewing something new! (and by 'new', I mean flipping an apron so ruined it was headed to the trash)🥲 And being terrified by sewing machines, I just sew by hand 😑
I love this video format! It's fun to see creative ideas from a variety of people, get answers to crafting questions I've encountered but haven't tried to really "solve," and hopefully is inspiring to you (and something easier for you to do than creating a whole idea from scratch ❤)
You actually answered a question I had in my head for a long time a little while back when you made a large spool of thread for storage. I have a bunch of cookie tins I've been trying to think of something to do with, I think I'm going to stack them, glue the lids to the bottom of the tin above so they pull apart together, wrap in yarn and add the top and bottom wood pieces. Will deff be cute and useable storage.
Starting a project before having a step by step in your mind can lead your mind to look at it as potentially wasting precious hours, and the suggestion for starting with testing is very useful in that regard - one actually start, and testing is a low pressure activity to get the gears going and helps figure out hidden needed future steps!!
I like that type of video. Its interesting to see what other people are making or listen to your ideas on "how to solve problem xy" sometimes it helps to hear about something to solve a problem you didnt knew you had xD I probably wouldnt like it if those videos were the ONLY content for a year or so - and maybe wouldnt watch all of them, but in between other projects or when you know you dont have time because of travel, or illness or whatever... great idea!
There is a fine line between hoarding and collecting.....Organizing your Madness is key, finding a way to showcase some of your vintage finds or the prettier items like a "Cabinet of curiosity" corner might help. Thrifting, auctions, flea markets and garage sales are a good place to look for things I swear by boxes baskets and cabinets with shelves and drawers, lots of drawers! You can do matchy matchy and random awesomness decor with this method of storage and it doesn't have to be expensive. I started with old plastic Milk crates, from behind the local grocery, in my "poor student days" and graduated to proper book shelves. Later when i could afford it, i would get a nice looking box to put small things in, gradually over time. Don't forget to label your treasures! So you don't inadvertently cast the modern wicca spell of disappearance! "I put it in a safe place"..........
Love this format! Every video doesn’t need to be a major project!! Small fast projects are often times necessary. Like a quick fix around the house. Or one part of a long term project. Gifts you’ve made for other people might be fun too! Even an attempt at a garden or landscaping around your home!! Thanks for the visit with cat!
I love this kind of video. I love seeing other people having just the same problems as me and reading even more ideas in the comments makes me feel like part of a sweet little crafting community
For storage space: ikea has Great boxes, my favourite is the pansartax, it stacks easily and neatly so it could grow into a proper shelf, and it's semi transparent so you can see some of the fun colours inside but muted enough that they look clean
Sort of beginner sewing project ideas I've enjoyed -Pot holders, square one with and without a pocket -Making my jeans pockets longer with scrap fabric (VERY satisfying) -a warm jacket for my friends dogs that was traced from their rain coat. I used big snaps and elastic for the attachment points!
This is a great type of video to give you a rotation of types of topics to cover! I've been ignoring all my patterns that I've drafted which are in plastic bags shoved in a drawer. The clear file sleeve is a great idea - plus, I can protect my vintage patterns better in them as well! Great suggestion!
It’s a great format. Sustainable, varied, infinitely interesting! My partner watches 90min a week of guitar gear chat all from viewers comments and queries. He is always sad when they skip a week.
Sharing my beginner project. Napkins! They helped me practice sewing straight lines, plus their low stakes cause its just squares that are meant to be folded up so you can pick the best of the 4 lines to be on top.
For storage solutions, look into ikea hacks. I made myself a new bedframe by taking two 4x1 Kallax units and two 1x1s, putting them on their sides and then screwing a sheet of plywood over the top and adding a headboard, giving me a total of 10 kallax boxes worth of storage. That frame works for a standard one person bed, for a bigger one just add more kallax units. Now just get the right number of box inserts and get organizing. If your bed is against the wall, just tie the boxes together - then you can access the rear boxes by just pulling on the rope. Hope this makes sense - feel free to ask questions if it doesn't.
I like the format, you never know when you find answer to a question that you never asked or knew that you needed. Love your crape skirt it’s very cute. I bought some heavy neoprene last year to make the over skin for my tailors dummy, I just need time to get some friends to come over so that we can make my body wrap so that I can use it to make the pattern pieces. As it’s winter at the moment and I started losing weight again we are waiting for spring in another 4-5 months time 😹😹😹
I really like this new format, especially the solutions for storage ! I think it's a perfect way of sharing little tricks ;) Maybe more drawings of your ideas ?
Thank you for including The Cat! He's become an integral part of your videos since you moved and I love him! This was a fun video; I enjoy hearing other people's questions and your answers to them. A pleasant change of pace for you, I'd think! And that crepe skirt is delectable!
I like this format it's a good idea and it gives you a bit of a break. I store my patterns in a filing cabinet by number. I photocopy the front of the patterns and out it into a binder. Oh the binder is separated into sections for ease. For the rest of the stuff shelves, bins and plastic drawers. Oh and my filing cabinet. I work in chaos so I'm fine with the everything being everywhere. I have pockets of organisation... If I love long enough they might merge but at this late date I don't think it will happen
This day has just become better ❤ And I'm glad to hear that you feel better now 💖. Don't forget to take time for yourself and rest, and have some yummy food. P.S. I like this new format ❤️🔥
I invested in under the bed storage containers. Under your bed is there is so much wasted space. I found these plastic containers with wheels that fit under the bed and it’s the perfect place to store fabric and flat things like my large ruler and cutting mat.
7:25 I dyed some neoprene recently. I used Rit's Dyemore and the neoprene soaked up the dye like crazy, so use more than you would think. Yes, I did do it in a pot I only use for dye on the stove. Also, the neoprene soaks up a toooon of water. 8:25 I love it. I'd be funny seeing reactions in a high tourist area like Paris for people to judge you thinking you're a tourist, but are in reality actually French 😆. Also it looks amazing
I really like this format. You seemed to be inspired by answering other people's questions. Good luck with any of your current projects. And hello to Not My Cat
Thank you for answering my question about pattern storage! I've been trying to steal a glimpse of yours whenever you pulled a pattern out. I will now have to go back and figure out what projects all those pattern pieces belong to....
Love this style of video! It's interesting hearing ideas to others problems. You never know when something could spark and idea to solve your own problems!
❤ i loved this video so much, simple and interesting thank you! If i may, something my sewing teacher teach me for the question of thread color : when in doubt, chose a Grey shade that's approach the grading of your fabric (especially for busy fabric) 😊
Ce format de vidéo et sympa et puis ca te donne une petite pause de créations de contenu, enfin je vois ça comme ça ^^ Et ça te fait interagir avec la communauté c'est plutot cool ^^
"beginner friendly", Ha! I started by trying to copy an expensive dress I saw in a shop window, made out of a polyester curtain material. It looks terrible! I made so many mistakes! But I learned so much, and the fabric was cheap.
Yess this tips forma is more than nice, you should make more of these! I love watching you make stuff, but this is so useful and also I bet it's a lot less stressful 😊
That pattern storage idea is genius! I have a couple of bookshelves with bins for craft storage and currently have a small bin with patterns, but i have just been shoving my homemade patterns in with my commercial patterns and it's definitely not sustainable :P I will have to shift over to your method!!

This day has just become better ❤
And I'm glad to hear that you feel better now 💖. Don't forget to take time for yourself and rest, and have some yummy food.
P.S. I like this new format ❤️🔥
Looking at your problem-solving process is fascinating! Please, do record similar videos in the future!
that crepe skirt is so fun!! lol very normal
You are Amazing ! ❤❤❤
I invested in under the bed storage containers. Under your bed is there is so much wasted space. I found these plastic containers with wheels that fit under the bed and it’s the perfect place to store fabric and flat things like my large ruler and cutting mat.
It’s like a dictionary of problems solving
😮❤
7:25 I dyed some neoprene recently. I used Rit's Dyemore and the neoprene soaked up the dye like crazy, so use more than you would think. Yes, I did do it in a pot I only use for dye on the stove. Also, the neoprene soaks up a toooon of water. 8:25 I love it. I'd be funny seeing reactions in a high tourist area like Paris for people to judge you thinking you're a tourist, but are in reality actually French 😆. Also it looks amazing
😺Sending Love. 💖💖💖💖
I really like this format. You seemed to be inspired by answering other people's questions. Good luck with any of your current projects. And hello to Not My Cat
A great format! It helps to hear how other people approach some techniques and we all can learn from each other!😊❤
I do find this enjoyable. Even if it’s not my question, many of these topics are ones that I have needed to work out or I will sometime.
Thank you for answering my question about pattern storage! I've been trying to steal a glimpse of yours whenever you pulled a pattern out. I will now have to go back and figure out what projects all those pattern pieces belong to....
I really enjoyed this! Plus it gives you a break from feeling the need to create all the time! Win win!
Only now came around to watching this vid. Very much enjoyed hearing about other ppls projects :)
Awww Not-my-cat is such a handsome fellow
This was a really fun format! It's so nice to hear your view on things and also your humour ;)
I love this and would love to see more from time to time. You've given me ideas for working on my projects and I might ask for help myself one day!
I think this would be a good format for livestreams, but as a breather in between it's also fine :)
I love this new video format!
I have been looking for the fun star trek fabric texture for months and haven't had any luck
Ce format de vidéo et sympa et puis ca te donne une petite pause de créations de contenu, enfin je vois ça comme ça ^^
Et ça te fait interagir avec la communauté c'est plutot cool ^^
"beginner friendly", Ha! I started by trying to copy an expensive dress I saw in a shop window, made out of a polyester curtain material. It looks terrible! I made so many mistakes! But I learned so much, and the fabric was cheap.
I did enjoy this format. Thanks for the interesting answers and ideas!
I love this new format! Please make more episodes in the future 😊
These are fun! Great addition to your type of videos!!! Yay cat!
Yess this tips forma is more than nice, you should make more of these! I love watching you make stuff, but this is so useful and also I bet it's a lot less stressful 😊
Wow! You are a wealth of knowledge! This was so informative!!
That pattern storage idea is genius! I have a couple of bookshelves with bins for craft storage and currently have a small bin with patterns, but i have just been shoving my homemade patterns in with my commercial patterns and it's definitely not sustainable :P I will have to shift over to your method!!
This is wonderful! I'd love more videos like this!
I love this! I also love your crepe skirt, it's amazing ❤❤❤
Loved it… glad you didn’t forget the cat! 🐱
J'ai adoré cette vidéo et en faire une série serait super
Franchement tu expliques les choses tellement simplement ça rend accessible
😽
Loved this video! Would love this type from time to time ❤
This was a fun video! Thank you ❤ advice is always appreciated
