- I made an underground cave axoltol tank and addedmy pet axolotl Lucy! This tunnel aquascape was a little tricky, but Axolotls love caves and dimly lit environment. It ended up being super unique and she loves it!

Just FYI, Lucy is actually male ( see the lump behind 'his' back legs). Brilliant video, aquarium decoration's can be quite expensive, especially big hide's/ caves suitable for Axolotls. This video inspires me to get creative with my tanks (currently 5 big axolotl tanks, I've kept axolotls for 15yrs+). The one addition I've added that you may wish to consider down the line- I've siliconed in a glass shelf about halfway up the tank. A few of them will wait on the shelf to be fed. I find axolotls enjoy exploring different levels and will sit ontop of plants, decorations and the shelf (I started with a soap dish with suction cups made for a shower). I've subbed- hope to see more axolotl videos 👍🤞

Thanks for inspiration I made a lucky bamboo underground cave axolotl tank. After it’s done cycling I can move my axolotl from their other tank into and watch them explore. My axolotl is really active for some reason. Everyone says they aren’t

With all that foam it's going to float! Make sure to anchor them down with rocks or something on top to weight it down 😅 don't ask me how I know

How do you keep the foam from floating?
I think when its dry it sticks to the basket thing she used and that prevents it from floating, or if u meant the basket thing AND the foam on it she probably just dug a hole into the sand and the water doesnt let it float
We ended up having to use suction cups glued into the bottom of the basket/foam, and stick them in on the bare glass bottom before adding the sand. (Found out too late, had to shuffle sand around as the water was already in). The foam creates a looooot of buoyancy

@@alexandrumihci4058 sand is fine? I have 10 axolotls and they are all on sand. There is axolotl groups on Facebook and breeders recommending fine sand.

What size tank is this? When I look at the link attached, they don’t have anything larger than a 16 gallon.
