Mobile Suit Gundam | Toonami Promo (4K)

- Back in July 2001, Mobile Suit Gundam took the airwaves on Cartoon Network's Toonami. It was an older show and coming off of Gundam Wing, the art style looked a little dated.
The Toonami team came up with some great promos for the show and really made the show seem as intense as possible.
The show never finished its run on TV due to ratings and 9/11, but the packaging and promos for this show are some of my favorites in Toonami history.
I've started capturing my old VHS tapes and upscaling some of what I find along the way. I hope you'll consider subscribing and sharing the videos on your social media pages. Let's build this channel together!

Happy to finally have this finished for you all! What’s your favorite memory of Gundam on Toonami/Adult Swim?
This is one of many so yes
This series had a huge impact on me
love!
1:09 “Toonami is proud to present…”
Peter Cullen, chill inducing
“His weapon? Gundam.” Has lived in my mind for 20 years.
Peter Cullen just elevated these promos so much. We didn't know we had such a good thing back then.
Never forget how they aired the finale around christmas and my VHS player decided to record a blue screen for it and I was so disappointed for years until the dvd combo box set was released but it wasn't in english.
I just finished watching the entire first series. Such a classic !
Welcome to the Gundam team.
Now this is a show that should come on the Toonami Rewind block
The Blu Ray version doesn't look to bad. Maybe they'd consider it
They ran the Gundam Origin TV edit prequel. The original run did badly because they were using its toy sales as extra income to the cartoon network and the old animation wasn't selling well and the terrorist attacks had them pull the show with all "War" content but it never returned to finish its run. They planned zeta for Adult Swim until they saw the shiny that was the first all CGI Gundam series Gundam Seed. It died because while G Gundam put the franchise on life support it's toy line was over produced and caused many background Gundams to warm pegs along with the repacked UC and AC figures from the Battle scarred line and stock where they just swapped the back card for the current show and placed the Toy bubble on top.
“The federations has dispatch its entire mobile suits forces”
The last line in the promo always gives me teary goosebumps of joy and excitement!!!
Char was my hero
The mask, the cape, the complete awesomeness
10 years old in 2001 when it appeared on Toonami
Moblie Suit Gundam was one of Toonami's best show in my book.
Facts 💯
Absolutely great job remaking the classic promo!
Thank you! There were a few short clips less than a second long that held up the project for months.
I’ll never forget the first time I read Mobile Suit Gundam 0079 when i was in middle school and got to check them out at my local public library
That's awesome! Was it the hardcover "Origins" manga? I have a few of those.
@@JazzMasterSamurai no it was the paperback so this was around 2005-2008 when I was in middle school not I own volume one of the hardcover “Origins” manga
@@captainmarvelous1221there was also the original Novels by the creator of the franchise based on his original scripts for the show they were translated in the 80:s during Robotech mania phonetically and recently were retranslated using the official sunrise name list.
Calling Amuro a homeless boy is such a violation...he was MADE homeless by the war! Promo acting like they found Amuro in an alleyway 😂😂😂
Right?! That was not a defining characteristic of him and I think he even had two homes if you consider he was from Earth. Such a weird scripting choice.
@@JazzMasterSamurai Bro for real. Next they'll call Hathaway an incel 😂😂😂
@@thesomalistrawhat hathaway is a simp, not an incel lol
I also enjoyed Mr.Prime referring to the White Base's crew as simply "Orphans and Rejects"
@@xnflg3074 Hathaway is a P.I.M.P
This promo was made in the month of 7th birthday.
Not too many anime fan like Moblie Suit Gundam.
This was the first one ever.
I pray that in this lifetime sunrise adapts the rest of the origin so we can see this peak remastered
Thank you for doing this! I've always felt the same about the quality of the Toonami promos. I frequently use them to recommend Gundam to people and a better quality of the this MSG promo has been sorely missing. Fantastic work!
Thank you! I was glad to work on these. I wish I had a better source for the graphic at the end, but I'm happy with how the project turned out.
Like the Flute & String riff in the 1st 20 seconds. Nice homage to it's origins. 🎶
Thank you!!! This series and the Toonami promos/intros are amazing!!!! One of the best series ever!!!!!!
I slightly remember watching the OG Gundam on toonami
Anyone know the name of the theme being used in this promo? I know its a remixed version of Kyuchi ni Tatsu Gundam but i can't find on TH-cam or any Toonami related forums.
A Gundam anime is awesome as it gets.

What did he say? I don't understand that.
They made better anime shows in 2001.
It was 3 or 5 after the early days of Toonami.
Many Gundam anime shows were Toonami when I was a child.
And it was a few month after my grandpa died
This wasn't made in 2001. It was dubbed in 2001
I said they "made" better shows in 2001. The first Gundam anime will be 50 years old in 2029.
1979 is when this was released but yes this is quite the show that I got hooked on when I was a kid.
I miss Peter's voice. The new guy is okay, but.... meh.
Still can't get over hearing Optimus Prime talk about Gundam.
Howard Parker is solid, but Peter Cullen is a literal VO God
