Last summer I was fishing a clear water lake here in central Alabama. I saw a snake just like you saw in the introduction, but it was crossing a very large creek. When the snake finally got near my boat, I was amazed to see 3 big 3 pound plus spotted bass following it! I hear the swimbait guys talk about big bass just following swimbaits. I guess bass follow snakes also. If you see a water snake, toss your jig a couple feet behind it.
black and blue jigs are the juice on this lake lol.. glad to see you hitting these southern illinois lakes!! destroyed the big lake at pyramid a few days ago and going to find some hopefully not jam packed water this weekend and all next week while im off.. feel like i neglect my big boat being on these 10hp lakes lol gotta get to bigger water this next week
@@TheTinHorseMonty i loveee the grass edges on the big lake there.. one of my favorite small lake summer stops.. been trying to figure out otter lake here lately too.. still a new lake to me but its been worth the drive every time..! plus i can take my alum rt188 since its a 115hp limit lake..
Have you ever tried using the itsy bitsy jig it is a smaller jig and I use a smaller trailer does quite well seems to do better than the full size jig enjoy the video thanks
When you coming back down to crab? Would love to fish with ya'? I'm a kayak angler but working on building a 16" jon boat into a bass boat this fall/winter. Cheers from West Frankfort Old and New Lake!
You still catching them without that video game, then you really know how to fish, now that's fishing using your knowledge and skills, keep it up MR REAL FISHERMAN
I have a question for you could you take all of the rods out of your boat and fish a black and blue jig all day but always renumber green pumpkin will get you something but black and blue is tried and true

That's crazy. I remember Doug Hannon used to sale a snake lure so maybe he was onto something.
No matter the size catching fish is fun! Enjoyed it Brother
I second that. Thanks for stopping by

Going ole school 👍

That's right Rob. Love the ole jig. Doesn't always work but when it does it makes for a fun day. Take care!
Gabe-Needed this video. The bass have been stingy with everything. Breaking out the jigs today and going to hammer them
Excellent. Glad you enjoyed it. Go catch a few buddy!!
Lot a jig bites, fun
Man it was a blast. One of my favorite ways to fish. Thanks
Cool video Gabe!!! 😎 Glad to see you doing what you Love👍
Thanks buddy!
Black and blue jigs don't seem to be very effective here in WV but green pumpkin/orange works well. Thanks for the video !!
Sounds like you've found the right color to snatch em up on a jig. Funny how certain colors play in certain areas.
Quite a few 10 hp lakes in northern Illinois and I have found some really decent bass in those lakes. Very peaceful and calm lakes too
Agree 100%. No jet skies or pleasure boats!!!
Thanks for sharing. Good video as always. You covered everything water temperature ect. What was visibility. Or did I miss it. 👍
Thanks. I think I touched on water clarity but can't remember. It was 1-2 foot of vis.
I believe you have doctor up that 9.9. 😂😂
Possibly.
@@TheTinHorseMonty I have one too!!!!’
@@TheTinHorseMonty you was o. Them little bass with that jig!!! You never know when it bites. Could be a 8 pounder!!!!!
Thanks for sharing Gabe . They were eating a jig up .

Nuthin better than puttin a jig in your hand and goin to work!! 👍
I agree. A man needs that in his life every now and again!!

Yes. Cumberland makes a killer Bitsy. I've had some great days on it. Thanks for the reminder.

Man I'm not sure. I need to get over there sometime. It's been a long time. Good luck on the jon boat buddy.
People still catch bass without FFS? Crazy! I still catch them with no electronics at all.
