I use a Meike grip for my A6600. I purchased the grip for $28.00 (U.S. Dollars) used from Ebay. It works exactly as it should. The only drawbacks for me are the need for the outside cable in order to use the vertical camera button. This reduces or eliminates the weather resistance of the camera and... the need to disconnect the battery grip in order to change SD cards (this problem would not impact the A7iii since the SD card is inserted in the side of that camera).
However, the Meike grip is the only battery grip available for the A6600 and for that price, how can I complain?
NOTE: I had a battery grip for my Canon DSLR and I had to disconnect and remove the battery compartment door in order to attach the grip... This is easier but, the Canon grip did not require an external connection to use the vertical shutter button....

I would be curious if there is any impact to overheating on an A1.

Great video! Is there a way to use a dummy battery with this battery grip? The original battery door of the sony camera has a rubber cable routing hole for the cable of a dummy battery? Does the grip have any solutions for a dummy battery cable?

Hey there. If I just put battery grip on without cable attached. I assume it’ll still give battery extension but without using extra button? So all I get is extended battery life? Is that possible? Hope I made sense:-)

I've had both the Sony and Meike. I sold the Sony because hte Meike was BETTER while also costing less.
