- In this video, I construct a tier list of every adventure mode plant in PvZ2. This is a script I'd been sitting on for a long time and wanted to turn into a full video for y'all to enjoy! This is also why some of the information in the video is outdated, such as when I stated that Gold Leaf costs zero sun.

I wrote the script for this video a while ago and had been sitting on it for ages and I thought now was a good time to unearth it and make it a full video since it's been a while since the last upload. That's also why some info is outdated which I've only just realised now. Eg. Gold Leaf doesn't cost zero sun anymore. And some of my opinions have shifted a little since I wrote the video but not too much. I appreciate all of you for returning after however long it's been since my last (non-meme) video. Means a lot to me :D

Bloomerang is actually the only plant i have consitently used throughout the first couple worlds in this game. The piercing shots just makes it super valuable in my opinion. I really expected it to be ranked higher.

I feel like Stunion should be A tier. Despite having sun cost, it affects multiple zombies and stun them, and it synergize with any plants
except knockback plants (primal peashooter, etc)
It also has the whole purpose of stunning zombies that are immune to cold effects
Man spitting facts. In all seriousness, I wouldn't mind it being below A tier, it should be there, but that's fine. BUT EVERYBODY PUTTING IT BELOW ICEBERG? That's a disgrace to every other stalling plant in the game.

You see, stalling plants are meant to support others, and stunion doesn't really work well with some good plants or even zombie mechanics (DON'T BRING THIS THING IN JURASIC MARSH, TRUST ME).
Where as iceberg works well bc of one plant......tile turnip.
We all know this plant food effect is OP, and being able to use MORE OF THEM?!?

Also, it and infi-nut work so well togather and it doesn't suffer if you use knockback plants either.
You could make the argument that it sucks with fire plants, but outside of frostbite caves.....you really won't use them (except snap dragon that thing is preety neat)
But u gotta admit....NOTHING tops thyme warp (which, correct me if i am wrong) can be used in other worlds now!
Also....why aren't winter melon and magni in S tier?
@razvanstanescu337 I checked and yeah, Thyme Warp is now usable in other worlds but now costs 100 sun. Which is just insane.
Winter Melon should be in S tier for sure but I really wouldn't want magnifying grass nerfed tbh. Still an amazing plant but requires even more catering than Winter Melon.
I still maintain though that Iceberg Lettuce is easily overrated. It completely falls off at around Dark Ages where there are just more useful plants to use. Since Iceberg Lettuce only really helps at the start, it's hard to justify it without heavily relying on its plant food effect. Even then, later on you get full screen wipe effects which are more useful than full screen freeze.
The reason Stunion is more viable is because area allows it to properly function in more challenging worlds. Also, knockback isn't a common enough effect to be that hindering to it and I never understood the 25 extra sun complaint if you're gonna justify Winter Melon and Magnifying Grass. (video creator, not you)
Lastly, idk where to put this but Chard Guard is cracked and somehow still underappreciated.
I disagree with the stunion ranking, and I even think he’s better than iceberg. Having 1x2 stun aoe doesn’t seem like a lot, but when you don’t have to worry about the wrong zombie being stunned all for a 25 cost really has it’s use. Sun is as common as dirt here, so the trade off doesn’t hurt him much. He’s A tier if you ask me.
Not to mention it's not ice based so it doesn't interfere with your fire plants.
It's a 1x1 but it's still very good especially when there is a big chunk of zombies in 1 tile

Thyme Warp should be an S tier because of the sheer power of being able to reset and bunch up zombies. It costs the same as the Gemium plant Hurrikale but resets the entire board.

Yeah but it puts all the Zombies back at full health. Which is more a Curse than a blessing cause then you got hordes of shit making their merry way to your defense.

Bonk Choy is definitely B tier at least-
However mine is level 4 which can solo a Conehead so my opinion isn’t really valid
Coconut Cannon definitely a B+ tier plant
Not only can you get Sun really quickly in PvZ2 but splash damage means you only need 2 and a few other offensive plants - like the kernel-Pult which should be A tier
Threepeater - again “high sun cost” 300 is not high, even a row (or 2 even) of Winter Melon’s are doable as long as you use a lot of Sun producers which is also fine because they can be used as mini wall-nuts
However, I do agree with D tier because the plant food ability is terrible
Chili bean is a must bring in some levels - Jurassic Marsh and up will sometimes start with a conehead - B or even A tier
Edit: I overrate Chili bean way too much - I agree with C tier now lol
Stunion can stun multiple plants, are you sure it gets “overshadowed” by iceberg lettuce? Definitely Stallia but Iceberg lettuce?

I got a question. Why did u put Bonk Choy below Gold leaf, Grave Buster and Stunion? Even at lvl 1 Bonk Choy is a very solid plant in my opinion and u don't really need to put wall nuts in front of it. I've beaten lots of levels with it at lvl 1 without much struggle and the sun wasn't a problem at all. Plus it can help you in Wild West and Jurassic Marsh a lot, so I don't see a reason why to put it below the plants mentioned earlier.
Stunion is really good, so it makes sense to be above or on part with Bonk Choy. But I agree, Gold Leaf and Grave Buster aren't as good, especially because they are world locked.

@@Dada-r7z7s Yes, you are right but it is not necessary to put wall nut to win the game. It makes a better defense with wall nut, that is true, but as I said it is strong on it's own too.
13:11 you can stack sun bean with very tough zombies to get up to 1,000 sun with stalling plants.

Bowling bulb isn't as bad as many think, it just requires more usage of instas to handle the buildup of bulbs.

You are severely underestimating Bowling Bulb
Two columns of them can easily wipe out an entire wave and they only cost 175. If you are actually willing to give them support such as instas or another damage dealer, they become insane. Should be B tier at least.
Primal Peashooter is an S tier, for only 350 sun, you deny an entire lane to the zombies for pretty much the rest of the game. Sure his plant food isn't the greatest but that means you can invest it in other plants with better PF such as Primal Mine.
Banana Launcher is an A tier, it gives you board wide range the ability to almost one shot a buckethead on a whole tile.
Those are my main nitpicks

now that there's an update where you can use gold leaf and thyme warp outside of their home worlds, I think gold leaf is kinda niche cause of its TERRIBLE recharge time, thyme warp is indeed very broken.
Thyme warp literally breaks the cannons in Pirate Seas, tou can't hit them afterwards lol
This is a minor nitpick, But the primary stream of the threepeater’s plant food does higher damage than the peashooter plantfood, so no, it is pretty good, especially if the enemy is point blank

Spikeweed shouldnt be in d of course its not gonna solo all the bucketheads, its a support plant that doesnt get killed by most zombies and is supposed to add some damage to your plants, id personally give it a b tier because even just 2 spikeweeds in a lane can kill infinite basics and its just a great slot filler especially when paired with melee plants
Coconut cannon, even tho its expensive is a manual plant and getting a row of them isnt that hard because of the 50 sun meta, manual plants allow you to stall zombies to get more sun so the cost isnt a problem, id personally give it A tier
Threepeater is nice for saving space, definitely better than peashooter C tier
Spikerock is similiar to spikeweed so id give it B
Putting cherrybomb which is a 30s recharge 3x3 instakill plant anywhere below S tier should be considered a sin
Peapod is a b tier plant, the ability to save so much space is a lot better than you would think, 25 sun doesnt make a difference when youre sunproducers are making hundreds of sun every minute + you can use it with torchwood which now is considered a free plant
Hotpotato is probably one of the most useless plants in the entire game, it gets outclassed by the plant you unlock after it which is pepper pult, easy F tier (tho pepper is still not a good plant but its a better heat source than hotpot)
Chardguard is S tier, 15s recharge for a wall plant that KNOCKS BACK ZOMBIES and only cost 75 is godly, and also he can instakill zombies with blover, what more could you want
How is stunion below iceberg, he can stun a group of zombies while iceberg can stall only a singe zombie, 25 sun difference is not even a difference, its completely insignificant especially in a 50 sun meta

Red stinger isnt really comparable to most A tier plants, even tho hes a 150 sun cost repeater, he doesnt have the synergy with torchwood and you can only plant him in the first 3 columns
Endurian is b tier, even tho he costs more than a wallnut and has less toughness than wallnut, he has only 15s recharge which makes him a much more reliable wall
Gold leaf was made usable in other worlds in a recent update and 0 sun cost sunflower that takes NO space is op, easy S tier
Blover can instakill all zombies... how is it not s tier.

Good points all around. Looking back, I should've put chard guard in S tier for sure. And stunion in A tier. The reason not many plants are in S tier, especially cherry bomb, is because I plan on continuing this list with the premiums. With the power-creep of plants like grapeshot (which is just a straight up upgrade to cherry bomb), I feel like cherry bomb shouldn't be in the very top tier since there are OP alternatives. Also, my tier explanation at the start said that S tier is reserved for plants I think are broken and need balancing. Personally, I agree that cherry bomb is really good but I don't think it needs a nerf.

Why don't you include the F tier on your tier list videos? Also, Stunion is easily better than İceberg Lettuce and Stallia. The 25 sun isn't too much, it's not like it costs 200 sun. He can stun multiple zombies, works with fire plants, and can freeze the Frostbite Caves zombies. He overshadows them both!
I didn't include an F tier to keep it simple. If a plant is 'bad', it just goes in D. This is because I wanted the list to focus more on differentiating the stronger plants and less on the weaker plants that we all know are weak. To not oversaturate the list I suppose.
Also, I could've probably moved stunion up a tier but stallia has always been my favourite staller.

I mostly agree, but I feel like you underrate sun bean a little. You just put it in D tier without explanation. Sun bean can be a great early game secondary sun producer. If a level uses a lot of tanky zombies early on, sun bean can help you produce a lot of sun. Sure, most of the time it's better to use a better plant instead of using a seed slot for sun bean, but if you have an empty seed slot and you don't know what to put in it, sun bean is always a decent option. C tier, in my opinion.
1 - I'd put lightning reed in B tier. It's definitely overrated, but it can carry you up to the Jurassic marsh(that's how i first got there the first time)
2 - as a iceberg lettuce worshiper turned stunion cultist, here's what i have to say: comparing it to the iceberg lettuce, instead of stunning 1 zombie, it stuns everything in 2 squares(on top of itself and 1 square in front), which helps a lot when used outside of stalling out the first zombies, for a price of 25 sun on a 20 second recharge (functionally)instant plant, which is basically nothing(it will amount to, like, 200 sun even if you just spam it everywhere instead of upgrading your defense, though in my experience it's more like 100 in exchange for, like, 10 ice lettuces, 9 of which are placed in a burst on a dangerous group of zombies) and a worse plant food. Oh, and also you can use it with fire plants, which you can't do with the lettuce for thawing reasons
3 - as someone who unlocked rotobaga and decided that this is my strategy now - yep, the strat of just spamming it is close to falling apart mid-lost city unless you have a good stalling plant(all hail the sapfling)
3 - another reason why edurian can be better than wallnut+spikeweed is because of seedslots
4 - the only real problem with stallia is that it doesn't stack with other stalls. So for me stunion is better because ALL HAIL SAPFLING
5 - luckily, what you said about sun leaf did not age well. Still, it isn't too good because of 50 second recharge. It's so not too good, that i think that i'll use it in my future "there's no place for sun producers feat. sun bean" strat
6 - if you are playing around the magnifying grass, you don't even need stalls. You just need to not forget plant sun producers at all times. And forget you will due to you specifically(the one reading this comment, i forgot what your name is and you are too far for me to ask) sucking at multitasking
7 - after that one level in lost city with the premium frog, sun bean and puff shroom, where i actually played around using the sun bean, it feels more like c tier. Still, it's pretty fun and i'll use it later
8 - guys, is thyme warp broken now?
9 - again, you are underselling the ancient potat. It also has a faster recharge than a cherry bomb and deals more damage, which is relevant for gargantuars
10 - i heard that if you play around the bowling bulb(clean the lane up with instas after the 3rd shot) it's actually pretty good. And also that big wave beach is, like, the worst world for it. And the guy saying that only consideres lvl 1 plants
11 - guacodile is basically a 5 second recharge jalapeno that has a misleading peashooter attack

6:11 Spikerock can be A-tier because there is a plant called Spear-mint that creates Spikerocks on the lawn for 0 sun cost while boosting their damage
6:54 Split-peas are good for certain challeges like finishing game with only peashooters,it often comes in clutch
I think though, in at least the first half of game (Im in lost city) lightning reed can take out early stages of levels, and if you get two columns, are insane

Very, very meh list. Just for example, Stunion costing 25 Sun is not a major, or even moderate disadvantage. It's literally the lowest cost a plant will have besides being free, and the tradeoff is being able to hit air (which Iceberg can't), stunning groups (which Iceberg can't), and working with fire plants (which Iceberg can't). Rotobaga is also an actually godlike world plant and will tear apart tougher worlds like Jurassic Marsh and Big Wave Beach since you can place it anywhere, it does tons of damage for cheap, and it works well with Gloomwalk strats (certainly better than Phat Beat).
If Stunion costs free, he would have been higher

Okay, so I recently replayed the adventure mode in this game, and I sorely underestimated A.K.E.E. as a plant. Melon and Winter Melon both deal 80 damage per projectile, and are a fair bit more expensive than A.K.E.E. so you would assume that A.K.E.E.'s damage is much lower than theirs to compensate for it's relatively cheap price. Nope. 60 damage. And yes, Melon and Winter Melon both have 40 splash damage, which is a lot, but A.K.E.E.'s projectile bounces. The projectile loses 10 damage for every bounce, and can bounce 3 times, for a total of 4 zombies hit.
A.K.E.E's plant food effect surprisingly completely outclasses both Melon and Winter Melon plant food effects. The melon plant food launches a 200 damage melon with 20 splash damage at every zombie. A.K.E.E. plant food launches a 450 damage bouncing projectile at every zombie, that can bounce 3 times, and loses 50 damage per bounce, down to 300 damage. Even A.K.E.E's lowest damage from it's plant food (300 damage) is more than the plant food damage of Winter-Melon.
A.K.E.E. is disgustingly strong for 175 sun, at least in Adventure mode. It basically trivializes the entire game, so long as it doesn't face Jester or Parasol Zombies. There's no reason for a plant that's cheaper than Repeater or Laser Bean to have such strong single target damage, that can bounce to other enemies. And the plant food effect is basically just a better board wipe than Winter Melon, unless it's during an Endless Zone, where Winter-Melon's splash damage is going to be hitting several more zombies at a time.
The squash is imo one of the best plants out there, solid list!

Honestly, with a title like that, (EDIT: The original title of this video was "Plants vs. Zombies 2 TIER LIST 2023") I thought you were ranking Plants Vs Zombies 2 GAMES, as in ranking the many mods this game has. This is cool too, but that would be a pretty cool video idea, I think.
I see, just changed title for clarity. Sadly though I'm not too into mods and haven't really dabbled with any PvZ 2 mods but maybe in the future..
@@koalapvz I've actually had a lot of fun with mods like AltverZ and Reflourished! My biggest problems with the original PvZ2 game is that it now pushes this loot box-esque, grindy leveling up mechanic, there are plants that are premium and only limited time offerings, there are micro transactions galore nowadays, the ads are a constant nuisance, plants aren't very well balanced, with level design that doesn't complement them very well unlike in PvZ1 (garlic in Neon Mixtape Tou r*cough *cough), and the game generally feels unpolished with the removal of music and other smaller issues. Many mods fix all of my issues with the game, while also just simply expanding upon what is established in so many great ways turning them into the definitive experience in my opinion!

Lightning weed is broken in groups, goes on different lanes with incredible range, and can kill zombies that block projectiles or jesters and others idk.

I think primal peashooter deserves the S. Stalling basically everything while dealing decent damage is insane

Blover is definitely S tho..useful in almost every map..flying zombies, jurrasic marsh dinosaurs, the cowboy imp too..and can combo well with chard gard and primal p to insta kill

@@scoutgaming1822Being able to one shot any zombie/group of zombies with a chard guard makes this plant very powerful. There are other ways to abuse blover that are even more broken and can wipe the screen instantly.

I love the lost city plants (except Red Stinger) because they have the coolest ideas for plants but they also happen to be useless

Primal walnut should be S tier…it’s definitely the best walnut style plant in the game, cheap and the reload is extremely fast.

I accidentally found out that blover works with primal pea's knockback and i one shotted a Gargantuar, its pretty niche but it's pretty fun

Tbh, even tho game itself recommends using bonk choy + wall nut combo, it's usually not that good. Especially when u can place 2 bonk choy doubling damage and pretty much dealing with all tanky zombies (except Gargantuan, u just need stalling plant to kill one with him). Overall, bonk choy is too underrated in this tier list, u can easily beat everything till neon mix tour and after that bonk choy does really good good.
It is quite impossible to tier list this game with all those niche and broken plants ugh
I think there should be a tier list with every plant, these ones, premium and plants u unlock with seeds (Pokra, MayBee, Headbutter Lettuce,...)
power level between adventure unlocked plants and seediums and premium is why we cant have a tier list with everyplant

Ngl I’d argue sunshroom should also be in S tier with primal. Even though it has a growing mechanic, it can usually snowball much faster than primal since it only needs to produce a single sun before growing, then 3 sunshrooms will produce more than the 1 primal sunflower for the same cost. You can also spam it a lot more because of its low cost so it’s easier to protect your backline with it.

Actually, Tall Nut has the most health in all of pvz2 i think and it also stops jumping and flying zombies and the sun cost really isnt that big for a good plant so i think u should switch it to S tier
it costs too much for what it does, just use blover or better yet give infi nut a plant food

Your video is good but I feel like you should've also taken into consideration plant levels, since higher level plants can unlock new abilities. Obviously I'm not talking about if they were all max level plants but just like when they are higher level.

Late, and no one is pointing out this - a mistake I found:
Snapdragon - It is the same price as Bonk Choy.
(Opinion note, how is Bonk Choy more overrated than *Snapdragon?* Snapdragon is extremely popular!)

Thyme Warp - It heals all the zombies back to full health.
Cabbage-Pult - Cabbages deal double damage than Peashooters. I originally put this as a mistake, but yeah no read my reply for this.
Ok, in my notifications, Orandza replied to this, but it didn't show up. In response to your reply, fair enough. The only thing Cabbage-Pult is good at is when there are graves or straight-shooting deflectors like Excavator Zombie, or its Plant Food ability (but only if there's a lot of zombies).
As for Snapdragon... I think you may have misread my comment. In the video, KoalaOM says that Snapdragon is cheaper than Bonk Choy "It costs less sun..." which is incorrect. And Snapdragon is incredibly overrated. It is pretty good, but that doesn't justify its popularity.

Gold leaf is easily the worst plant in the game
It’s main gimmick is making gold tiles that you can put on plants to save space but it’s recharge is too slow to make use out of that. It is also too expensive for the value it gives which is more than a primal sunflower. Using it is just wasting a seed slot
