When I was a young single mom entering the work-place and I got the nicest work clothes at thrift stores. They were really good brands. I am almost 55 now and I still have some of them.

This summer has been ridiculously hot. Triple digits and 90s. The few days it was in the 80s was bliss but it didn’t last. The smoke in the air from wildfires isn’t helping either

My sister and I went to PE island, absolutely loved it ! I have always dreamed about it, and then we made it happen !it was so beautiful, and I love Anne of green cables, still read those much loved books over and over . That deodorant is the one I use, it is aluminum free! I thought the same thing for the price, but have tried others and this one works for me ! You did really good on the shopping, but you always do as you are a smart shopper and know value! God bless you, and I hope you have a wonderful trip !

You’ve found some great purchases again!
Some people use Magnesium gel or oil or Milk of Magnesium as deodorant.
I’ve done so in the past and plan to start in again. It takes a while for your body to adjust to it. I’ve had a busy schedule traveling this summer so am off any normal (whatever normal is) routine.
I went to a Nordic Fest in Decorah, IA (3 hours from me) on Saturday. It’s always a fun time with a parade, food, craft and painting demonstrations, music, folk dancing, a Viking encampment, a museum, and much much more. My daughter was in a lutefisk eating contest. Lutefisk is a Nordic fish preserved with lye. The fest is always the last Thurs to Sat of July - very hot but such a great time. Sat is the parade so the best day to go. I first started going when I was in the 6th grade. My great grandfather went to Veterinary school in Decorah and other family went to the college there so Decorah is special to me. Maybe some day you’ll make it to the Midwest. I could give some great ideas of things to see and do.
My daughter was in a re-enactment on Sunday afternoon. She does several in the summer. I didn’t go this time but she has more coming up in Aug and Sep.
I certainly hope that you have a great time on PEI and nice cooler weather.
We stayed in a cabin when we were there - there’s many to choose from at relatively reasonable prices, so if you get rained out with thunderstorms it may be an option.
We took the bridge across but the ferry back.
I went with my sister. She passed away in Feb so I’m thankful for those memories.

    • @mommabear2many
      @mommabear2many  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Such special memories. At times I have made our deodorant might go back to it. At some point we would like to travel. It’s hard to find people to watch animals. That usually costs more than our actual trip. We are tent people when you have a large family you need a certain amount of cabins for us usually 3-4. We book 3 tent sites at most places or group sites. I’ll do a cost break down for this trip we took.

I am so so jealous. I would love to go to PEi. Have the best time. I have read the books so so many times and watched the movies as much too. So love Anne with a E.

I know you don’t like to use these type of things but triple antibiotic ointment instead of deodorant will help. I use it for a couple days then take some days off. It works on the bacteria that causes the body odor.

Hi, MommaBear! I use something called Lavilin Deoderant Cream. It's expensive, but a little goes a long way and a single application can last days for some people. It does have fragrance, though, unfortunately. It also has castor oil, which I know some mommas don't want to use during pregnancy. I've tried a few different "natural" deoderants and nothing worked for me besides Lavilin (and sometimes Lume). It's just so effective.

I’ll look into that. I should just make some. I used to and had no issues but life gets busy.

  • @Livinginoz

I have found that name brands generally are a little bit better quality, but all clothes are manufactured in China and super cheap. The more expensive brands really jack up their prices, and even if the name brands are somewhat better, they aren’t 5 times better, although their prices are often 5 times or more higher. I have no problem buying and wearing used clothing. To me it’s good stewardship of our finances and our beautiful plant earth.

They closed the store to remodel and now it's ridiculously high 8 to 13 a T-shirt, a jacket was 21 and you have to pay for a bag. i said well my value village days are over ! I'm on the lookout for a new thrift store .
