Forcing myself to go just for the great deals at the end and not get sucked into spending all my money on my favorite pieces. Starting up my very first frag system. Hopefully I can get some quick growing coral to start up the new system as well as bio media from some of my favorite vendors
I like the tank. I think it would be really cool when corals start to take over. Btw I placed a livestock an order on Thursday, and I can't wait until it arrives since everything was beautiful the last time.
Sand bed is like a sponge, as soon as you mess with it everything comes out good and bad, if you clean it or too much of it in one go you can throw the whole system out of balance and at best you get an algae bloom at worst loose a load of corals and even fish, so everyone in the hobby does their own thing that works for them, it might for them might not for you, part of the fun and frustration of this hobby
I’m new to reefs, so take my advice with a grain of salt. Reef tanks are run a bit differently than freshwater tanks, they have way more life and bacteria that help with filtration.
When I started I had this master of the universe attitude. After a couple of years I decided it’s not worth the stress and it’s not helpful. I have bubble algae in very small amounts. I have an aiptasia here and there that I kill with lemon juice. Managing pests is definitely the best approach. If you shoot for perfection in this hobby you will lose your mind. This is a complex eco system we are running here.
She is just adorable you need to snag her up before she get's away March lol but on a side note my 10 gal nano is hitting 82 with the glass top and 78 without evaporation on a small tank sucks what do you recommend ?

This is pretty much the only scape that looks well from 3 sides. I have something similar in a Peninsula.

Pretty plain looking scape in my opinion. Everyone is different. I like Tias creations. 👍
