It’s become a huge issue in LA and it will/is going to be the reason ebike laws will become more strict which may completely change the game for moped/ebike riders and manufacturers selling the bikes the way they do. The county is beginning to pick up on the loopholes we use to get away with not needing things like licenses or registering. Please be considerate out there.
Thanks Eric, as you see this video is from over a year ago and I was pretty new to the whole e-bike community back then. Since then I personally have become much more aware of how to handle myself when riding in places, especially LA. However when out with a big group like this there will always be some people that you can not control. I feel that regulation is inevitable especially at this point. Where I live in South OC there is a ton of people aka very young kids that ride like crazy wild and there is really nothing I can do about them but I see the changes coming. Let's just hope that we can keep doing what we love. Thanks for watching brother.
Definitely understand! I was a part of the fixed gear track bike movement in LA back in 2013 or so with Midnight Ridaz. I started a ride with some friends called “Wednesday Night Outlaws” that started with around 10 people. It quickly grew and became around 150 people around the summer. With that came tons of younger people that rode like complete morons, crashing into cars, riding into other riders, clipping cars, and drinking while riding. It was way too big to moderate. Ultimately I left the fixed gear bike scene after a drunk rider crashed into me causing me to fracture my wrist. Some of the riders on these ebike rides remind me of those people. Ultimately they will be the reason why heavy regulations will be made on ebike/moped manufacturing and laws in LA. Let’s hope we get to keep riding our ebikes. Keep setting that example brother! Don’t let them ruin it for everyone else who rides responsibly!
