Witch Please!
-Remember fire safety
-Herbal doesn't mean harmless
-You are responsible for your actions both mundane and magical
I wish you would come back to YT and share on your craft right now. I love listening to you. You always seem to spark a yes in me and we are so like minded ❤
I love how approachable your presentation of witchcraft is. Getting started can seem so intimidating and this is such a great resource for people just starting out.
Thank you so much! Appreciate your lovely words! I really want to remove the barriers to Witchcraft. No elitism, no withholding knowledge et al.
I just found you both this week and have been watching Sedna all morning, and then I looked at her community suggestions.
Thank you both so much! I have been trying to find a happy medium between my atheism/skepticism and my interest in witchcraft, and you both have helped me with that.
Thank you so much for watching! It really means a lot. Finding that balance can be so hard. I think being mindful of the mundane but being open to the magic of things is a happy medium.
Thanks again!
I’ve watched a handful of your videos now, and I just have to commend you for all this incredible work you’ve done. To have a queer-friendly, no bull 💩, easy to grasp resource with such a friendly face is so incredible. You’re an amazing teacher, and I love how you always include homework after you discuss your topics. For a new witch like myself with ADD, you are going to be the reason I really START practicing, which really speaks to how well/accessibly you’ve done everything over here. Thank you!!
Wow James I can't tell you how much that means. I've been a bit poorly recently and your lovely words have really perked me up! Thank you so much, comments like yours are the reason I do this.
@@dothemagicalthing You are so welcome. I needed to find a channel like this, and I’d wager lots of other folks need it too. Love and blessings, and I will the algorithm to send this channel out to all those that need it. ❤️
Thank you again. Your words are so precious to me. Health, Wealth and Love to you!
You're so right! Thank you for this wonderful video!
I've seen some really popular witches selling "courses" and "beginner circles" on witchcraft, claiming that new witches will become super powerful once they complete them and how essential their coven and courses are to succeed as a witch. It's just a load of bull. The truth is, witchcraft can be anything and it can be very unique and utterly personal to you. I can attest to this personally - as someone who has not sought any "formal training" in the craft, my most successful spells have been those that I have crafted myself, using ingredients and practices that mean something to me; as opposed to following cookie cutter instructions by other people.
Also, books - I've found that most books on the craft exclude BIPOC and PWD people. That's the sad reality, since most authors tend to be white and able bodied. I would highly-recommend to everyone to start maintaining a detailed log of their own practices, especially if they tap into their indigenous culture or modify practices to suit their personal abilities. That way, you may one day be the author we are all looking for, who can reduce the gatekeeping that has unfortunately been plaguing the witchcraft world for so long.
100%! Thanks so much for such an insightful and thoughtful comment!
Every single thing you spoke about is 10000% correct. You are by far the BEST witch-tuber online. Thank you so much!! :) My friend and I were just talking about this today, about how disillusioning the widespread magical community has become for us because of how many authors and elders and those who are considered as leaders in the community, claim their practice to be the only way to work magic. As someone from a South Asian heritage, my practice does not look anything like the mostly American and European craft portrayed in 99% of books and social media. And I am questioned by some as to why practice doesn't follow the advice of "real practitioners". Then there's my friend, who suffers from a chronic illness, and she is often unable to work magic. She instead chooses to expand her knowledge with books and occult studies and she is gatekept as "not a real witch" because of the absence of a consistent physical practice. That's so wrong. Every point you made is so important for beginner witches and even experienced practitioners to know. Witchcraft is a craft and not a religion that should be followed based on the words of someone who happens to have a larger following/audience. It should be something personal that empowers us. I think most beginners don't get the chance to experiment and grow into the craft, because of the noise from the community of authors and so-called leaders. That's a real shame.
Thank you so much for sharing your experiences with such a thoughtful comment, I really appreciate every word. The personal is powerful in Witchcraft, you're so right!
I watch so many videos about practical witchcraft but you know how it is - you watch the video, you nod vigorously, then you close the video and forget about it. Yours are the only videos where I consistently pause and actively take notes and do the exercises. You make it so easy to take action and really incorporate what we learn.
Amber, I can't tell you how much that means to me. Thank you so much!
Thank you for the framework. I feel so overwhelmed at all there is to learn (and I’m curious about it all!). This gives me a way to prioritize a selection of topics and a schedule that makes sense. This really is amazing for an ADHD person.
I'm so pleased you feel that way! Really appreciate your lovely words!
This is such grounded sensible advice, working alone but together really works for me. I also love the guys over at SOTC , how we’ve bonded and how we learn and share knowledge x It’s great that you also reinforce not being intimidated by others knowledge, as I think this is quite prevalent ( not just in witchcraft but in everyday life / work ) it’s nice to be “ bigged up “ as a beginner, you do wonders for my confidence 💜
Sending love ❤️
I'm so glad you feel that way! I see far too much dismissing of newer Witches. People forget that was them at one point! And that learning is something that we should all keep doing through out our practice.
Wonderful video with excellent information and a really welcoming, down to earth vibe. This is a video I wish I could have had as a resource when I was first starting out, and I definitely think it will be a great resource for beginners. I’m really looking forward to seeing more of your videos! 😊
Thank you so much! It means so much to hear that!
I have listed the 13 things to research. It ties in nicely with my notes earlier on what I wanted to research. And you are so right about not wanting to write in my nice looking books. Lol
Honestly nice books are just too daunting sometimes! Lol.
So glad it ties in with your notes.
Jenny here (The Wheel) this is a lovely Vlog intelligent and accessible. I love how you are blending theory with practice. Love finding Vlogs when they are starting out as you get to go on a journey with the creator.
Thanks so much for you support and thanks for having me on The Wheel Podcast! Really means a lot!
You're a great teacher!
Thank you so much!
Brilliant, bite sized how to tips 🧙💜
I am very glad to have found your channel, so grounding and sage advice.
Thanks so much! Really appreciate your lovely words!
Thank you❤️ I’m going to make my list today. I’m so excited for the new moon to really dig in learning about ONE thing! Because as others said, when you are new it can be overwhelming. I have 4 children and I love the idea of giving yourself the entire month because it can be difficult to find the time to allow myself to to dive into something that interests me. Loved the video!
So pleased you got something from it! Thanks so much for your thoughtful feedback!
Lee, this is a brilliant video. I was so happy to hear you mention 'saining' as generally people look at me blankly when I mention I do it. You've shared some super useful information, as a relatively new practitioner, it's so helpful. Thank you. I'll be making my list, ready to start on the 11th.
Oh thanks so much Jenn! Really appreciate your lovely words! Glad you got something from it!
@@dothemagicalthing - thank you for letting me know about your videos. Are you happy to for me to direct fellow new practitioners to your channel? (always like to double check) :-)
Absolutely! Go for it!

Oh I'm so pleased you feel this way about things now! Thank you for your lovely comment!
Yeeeees! I'm so here for this. Love you, Lee! 🖤🖤🖤

Thank you for your comment!
What were the 'proper texts' the originals or books that you referenced.
The term primary texts is normally applied to books that have influenced modern practice and show what practices were in history.
In the video I mention Henry Cornelius Agrippa's Three Books of Occult Philosophy, Eliphas Levi's Transcendental Magic It's Doctrine and Ritual and Charles Godfrey Leland's Aradia: Gospel of the Witches.
I wouldn't recommend these as your first or most useful texts for Witchcraft. I'd recommend Grovedaughter Witchery by Bree NicGarren, Magical Power for Beginners by Deborah Lipp and Spellcasting by Arin Murphy-Hiscock. These give you the theory, practical and structure.
After that look at specific books on divination, House spirits, herb magic etc.
Then to understand the background of Western Occultism have a look at the Primary Texts.
Primary texts should be read with caution as knowledge has moved on and they can be archaic in terminology and approach to other cultures of the time. They also are the opinion of the author and not a hard and fast rule to practice so though they may present themselves as fact.
Hope this helps!
