My nephew donates his hair twice a year. Even though he faces ridicule in school for having long hair he chooses to grow it out specifically so that he can donate it. I've always been proud of him for this.
My boy does that too, he faces all kind of comments and bullying, but he grows his hair with grace and donates it with love. I can't understand who's raising those kids with those terrible hearts. 😕
This video made me cry. I have a friend who has alopecia. When we were younger she use to cry in my arms everyday, asking me "why? why me? Why do all the girls in our grade have hair and I don't?" she said crying in my arms. I feel so much empathy for her, I feel so much pain she have been through all because she didn't have any hair. She use to tell me she have been call hideous and an alien. So she started wearing wigs to make her feel beautiful, and to this day she still is. Beauty is painful which leads to everything. I think every woman and man is beautiful in their own way no matter if they have no hair, skin condition, physical deformities, or other problems. Everyone is beautiful. Bridget is so so so gorgeous, with weather hair or not. She is still beautiful to me. And strong.

I donated my hair when I was little too (I don’t remember the exact age) and I’m going to do it again soon because I’m a teenager and am required by law to go through a rebellious phase so I’m cutting my hair super short and I’m excited to donate more hair to people in need.

***** it's not mean it's fine , when i wear extentions i do plus some of the hair out of it but it is way better than plugging your own hair , i do not eat the follicles though i keep my hair in my mouth which i know sounds disgusting to alot but i rip it with my teeth then spit it out , i actually dont do that on purpose it just happens and later i relise there is hair in my mouth , i used to wake up choking on my hair not know i chewed on it before , so it's kind of scary :)

My mother passed away from cancer last year, and I just recently donated my hair to Wigs for Kids as well. I cut off most of my hair, leaving just enough hair for a pixie cut. I just got a confirmation last week saying that Wigs for Kids had received my ponytail. I hope that my hair and everyone else's hair that was donated makes someone very happy :)

Once my teacher told me Including my class, that a girl she had taught before in another school that she had donated her hair. she didn't want anyone to know but her sister told my teacher and then my teacher told my class, oh an that girl got a principals award. I've seen too many people say "bald heads are not acceptable for girls." I understand if it's a little girl who wants hair or a female who had taken pride in their hair and then lost it all. But I'm just going to throw it out there: I shaved my head absolutely bald (because I wanted to start fresh with "virgin hair") and I only had one person talk bad about it. Being bald is not something to be ashamed of. Bald is beautiful. And I wish it was easier to explain that to a child or older female who was attached to their hair. I got so many compliments on my big bald head and it was amazing. You shouldn't need hair to feel complete and society should not be saying that "bald is wrong."

I let my hair grow out a lot a while back. Ended up cutting it off. When I did, the woman asked if I would like to donate it. I of course said yes, and ended up giving 3 large 7" ponytails. A couple months later, I got an email from the little boy who got it. His mother loved how much it looked and felt like his natural hair, and the look on his face in the photo was priceless; it brought me to tears. I've been wanting to do it again, but I dyed my hair, so I'm waiting for the dyed parts to grow out again, so it's all natural and be donated.

I haven't had my hair cut since 1989 except for a couple 1 inch trims. My wife had several serious health problems,I told her i would donate my hair If she died, in her name. She cried because she knows how much my long hair means to me. I guess you could say i am like Germanic tribes during the roman Empire. The tribes had long hair to represent they were free from Roman oppression and 1989 was the one time it was cut since i got out of the navy in 1977. My wife of 40 years in January Passed February 4th i am waiting for an upcoming wedding because one of my Granddaughters is making me wait until after the wedding. then the hair will be donated,hoping it will help make some little girl happy.

I had long, silky, soft hair that went down to my hips. I chopped it off in late May and donated over 14 inches to Wigs for Kids. My hair has already grown a few inches back, and I'm very happy that I decided to donate. It's so worth it, and hair will always grow back! I would most definitely recommend donating your hair. :)

Cute little girl but that wig was way too big for her, she needed something smaller. Shes what? 6 or 7 and her hair looks like it belongs to a 30 year old (which it does) but the idea of these wig company things is that it is made to suit the little girl and in my opinion they could have made it to suit her a little better. Still, she looks very nice and really cute :)

Make sure to research where to give first. Some organizations charge the patients a lot for the wigs. Some give them for free. Also, some take different minimum lengths. And I think as a general rule your hair can’t be dyed.
I literally cried. One of my seniors in school donated her hair 2 years ago and this video has truly inspired me!!! Happiness is real when we do stuffs like this .I wanna make some child smile because of this decision that I'm willing to take . Who else is with me??????????
I got diagnosed with cancer last year and before I got my chemotherapy I cut my hair off and donated it too. Now I have a wig that I got for free from a fund that gives wigs with real hair to sick children here in Holland (It's not made of my hair though). But I'm still really happy with it and it looks better than my own hair, it's really shiny! :)

I donated to 'stichting haarwensen' last summer and I'm now waiting for my hair to be long enough to donate again without having to go bald (I'd like at least chin-length hair to be left on my head). Iris V I got my wig from Stichting Haarwensen and it's so pretty! And you also get some things to maintain the wig like special shampoo and other things. It's a really good cause I'm happy it exists! And really good that you donated, I'm sure some other kid is going to be really happy with it. I got to choose from 4 wigs so that was fun too. I choose the one with the longest and shiniest hair. Macey Rosalie My hair was really dark brown but I chose a wig that was a lighter brown color cause I always wanted lighter colored hair but I didn't get the chance to dye it. I think it just looks like I dyed my hair, it's really pretty!

They do not donate it to cancer patients who lose their hair. You have to have really good insurance or pay thousands of dollars out of pocket. Basically when you donate hair, the company makes money off your hair selling it to people that need it.

at christmas time last year i cut off 12 inches of my hair and donated it. now i'm in seventh grade and plan to keep growing and donating my hair. i want to do this until at least college. one time my friend said " why do you donate your hair. i would never do that." and i said " because at least i have hair unlike those kids. we are lucky enough to be blessed with hair so why not share it with the people who aren't."

Azatu it might not be thrown away, some of it may be salvageable for lower quality wigs blended with synthetic hair or extensions if it's in decent but not perfect condition. Some sketchy companies literally use hair collected from salon floors to create hair pieces. If they can do that, they could definitely make some less than perfect donated hair work
They usually don't take bleeched or dyed hair since they're already pretty damaged. They put them together with synthetic pieces and sell them off for cheap.

We were going to send it to a different organization, but we began hearing negative things about their processing. One of my friends told us about Wigs for Kids. He has donated to you many times over the years and told us how wonderful you are. Hoping some child gets a real boost of confidence from Jeff's donation. Great cause. I donated my hair when I was in high school to the cause and it was worth it. I had to keep my hair clean, washed thoroughly, not dye it for an entire year, and keep it growing long. I was around 16-17 years old when I went to a salon that cut donators hair for free of charge, styled what was left of your hair for you. I remember my hair being more than 19-21 ft long in length, so they ponytailed it all in on go, then cut above the band a few inches and wham it was done. It felt rewarding to me knowing that my hair went to being made into a wig for a little girl who could use it. So I was proud to have had my hair cut shorter to a boyish-pixie cut look in my junior year, it was for a great cause and greater hair donating.

Yeah, I understand. I know the organization I went to back then wasn't that messed up as locks of love, they called it a local hair donation place something like Hair for Angels or something like that small town wise. They did a great job. I'm hoping my hair was able to be made into part of a wig or two for some lucky kids. My hair grew a lot longer-faster then and was pretty thick, so it did feel weird after so long when they did cut it and pixie short length styled my hair after. Now, I don't mind having too much less-thick hair or too long of a length now. :)
I've been growing my hair for almost 5 years now and I'm donating it in like a month.. My bestfriend passed away in 2010 from leukaemia and,I just want to be able to give something to a little girl that needs something like this just to know that I'm making someone happy makes my day. Ive always wanted to donate my hair.. its really long, down to my hips in fact.. but unfortunately its far too damaged, mostly from dyeing it every colour of the rainbow. Every site ive read has said they want natural hair. Its a shame, id donate it all if I could.
Let it go to the natural colour and put conditioner on your [dry] hair and let it sit for an hour. Just do that a few times a week (before you shower is the perfect time) and it'll be nice and soft after a while:)

She always raged and replied "WHY DONATE TO PEOPLE WITHOUT HAIR? IT'S THEIR DAMN PROBLEM!" and she threw it away. I stopped being her friend after 3 years of the same thing
There are people who believe freaky voodoo and such can be done with someone's hair. In the off-chance that is correct, I wouldn't donate either in her position.

I really hate the fact that they throw away all that hair just because of some stupid rules. i dont think gray hair would hurt anyone, especially if they really wanted it. also, i would be devastaded to find that they threw away my hair
Kids probably don't want gray hair, but it could be used to make wigs for older people who would want to have a gray wig, but it's wigs for kids. Other organizations might accept it.

If you have ever thought about donating hair, even for a second, please do! I promise it is one of the coolest feelings you will ever have. Most places ask for 12 inches, but there are organizations that will also use 8 or 10 inches. Hair grows so fast, it is a very small price for a warm part of your heart to last forever. ***** If you really can't do it because your hair can't grow fast enough or "stops" growing after a while, that's fine. People are pre-programmed to grow our hair to a certain length, so while some can grow it down their backs, people like me can't get it longer than my shoulders.
"Hair grows so fast" Not all of us have fast hair growth. Mine takes a very long time to even grow an inch. Right now my hair is around 6-7 inches below my shoulders, took me about a year, or even longer to grow that much. But maybe when I cut my hair, I'll be able to donate it.

So i saw this vid a year ago and thought it was pretty cool, and a month from today im donating my hair. I just told my friend my idea and he told me it was the dumbest thing he heard from me. And that just made me realize that people like them are so enclosed in their own world that they dont know that other people are suffering from cancer or any other type of diseases. But why did you do it? I don't get it.. It's sweet but still. I have cancer too and I just wear a wig. I also sometimes just wear a scarf on my head. Did you do it to donate it or just to make cancerpatients feel better? Just know that ''cancerpatients'' are just normal people, we just have a disease that you could get too. Omg good job! Let me tell you a story. Once my teacher told me Including my class, that a girl she had taught before in another school that she had donated her hair. she didn't want anyone to know but her sister told my teacher and then my teacher told my class, oh an that girl got a principals award. I wonder what she would think if she found out who told her teacher because she didn't want anyone to know she donated her hair 💇🏻

I've seen too many people say "bald heads are not acceptable for girls." I understand if it's a little girl who wants hair or a female who had taken pride in their hair and then lost it all. But I'm just going to throw it out there: I shaved my head absolutely bald (because I wanted to start fresh with "virgin hair") and I only had one person talk bad about it. Being bald is not something to be ashamed of. Bald is beautiful. And I wish it was easier to explain that to a child or older female who was attached to their hair. I got so many compliments on my big bald head and it was amazing. You shouldn't need hair to feel complete and society should not be saying that "bald is wrong."

I let my hair grow out a lot a while back. Ended up cutting it off. When I did, the woman asked if I would like to donate it. I of course said yes, and ended up giving 3 large 7" ponytails. A couple months later, I got an email from the little boy who got it. His mother loved how much it looked and felt like his natural hair, and the look on his face in the photo was priceless; it brought me to tears. I've been wanting to do it again, but I dyed my hair, so I'm waiting for the dyed parts to grow out again, so it's all natural and be donated.

I haven't had my hair cut since 1989 except for a couple 1 inch trims. My wife had several serious health problems,I told her i would donate my hair If she died, in her name. She cried because she knows how much my long hair means to me. I guess you could say i am like Germanic tribes during the roman Empire. The tribes had long hair to represent they were free from Roman oppression and 1989 was the one time it was cut since i got out of the navy in 1977. My wife of 40 years in January Passed February 4th i am waiting for an upcoming wedding because one of my Granddaughters is making me wait until after the wedding. then the hair will be donated,hoping it will help make some little girl happy.

I had long, silky, soft hair that went down to my hips. I chopped it off in late May and donated over 14 inches to Wigs for Kids. My hair has already grown a few inches back, and I'm very happy that I decided to donate. It's so worth it, and hair will always grow back! I would most definitely recommend donating your hair. :)

Cute little girl but that wig was way too big for her, she needed something smaller. Shes what? 6 or 7 and her hair looks like it belongs to a 30 year old (which it does) but the idea of these wig company things is that it is made to suit the little girl and in my opinion they could have made it to suit her a little better. Still, she looks very nice and really cute :)

Make sure to research where to give first. Some organizations charge the patients a lot for the wigs. Some give them for free. Also, some take different minimum lengths. And I think as a general rule your hair can’t be dyed.

I got diagnosed with cancer last year and before I got my chemotherapy I cut my hair off and donated it too. Now I have a wig that I got for free from a fund that gives wigs with real hair to sick children here in Holland (It's not made of my hair though). But I'm still really happy with it and it looks better than my own hair, it's really shiny! :)

Iris V I got my wig from Stichting Haarwensen and it's so pretty! And you also get some things to maintain the wig like special shampoo and other things. It's a really good cause I'm happy it exists! And really good that you donated, I'm sure some other kid is going to be really happy with it. I got to choose from 4 wigs so that was fun too. I choose the one with the longest and shiniest hair. They do not donate it to cancer patients who lose their hair. You have to have really good insurance or pay thousands of dollars out of pocket. Basically when you donate hair, the company makes money off your hair selling it to people that need it.

at christmas time last year i cut off 12 inches of my hair and donated it. now i'm in seventh grade and plan to keep growing and donating my hair. i want to do this until at least college. one time my friend said " why do you donate your hair. i would never do that." and i said " because at least i have hair unlike those kids. we are lucky enough to be blessed with hair so why not share it with the people who aren't."

If I donated my hair and they decided it was “not good enough” I’d be triggerd that I cut my hair that takes years to grow for it to be thrown away!?
Azatu it might not be thrown away, some of it may be salvageable for lower quality wigs blended with synthetic hair or extensions if it's in decent but not perfect condition. Some sketchy companies literally use hair collected from salon floors to create hair pieces. If they can do that, they could definitely make some less than perfect donated hair work

We were going to send it to a different organization, but we began hearing negative things about their processing. One of my friends told us about Wigs for Kids. He has donated to you many times over the years and told us how wonderful you are. Hoping some child gets a real boost of confidence from Jeff's donation. Great cause. I donated my hair when I was in high school to the cause and it was worth it. I had to keep my hair clean, washed thoroughly, not dye it for an entire year, and keep it growing long. I was around 16-17 years old when I went to a salon that cut donators hair for free of charge, styled what was left of your hair for you. I remember my hair being more than 19-21 ft long in length, so they ponytailed it all in on go, then cut above the band a few inches and wham it was done. It felt rewarding to me knowing that my hair went to being made into a wig for a little girl who could use it. So I was proud to have had my hair cut shorter to a boyish-pixie cut look in my junior year, it was for a great cause and greater hair donating.

Yeah, I understand. I know the organization I went to back then wasn't that messed up as locks of love, they called it a local hair donation place something like Hair for Angels or something like that small town wise. They did a great job. I'm hoping my hair was able to be made into part of a wig or two for some lucky kids. My hair grew a lot longer-faster then and was pretty thick, so it did feel weird after so long when they did cut it and pixie short length styled my hair after. Now, I don't mind having too much less-thick hair or too long of a length now. :)

I've been growing my hair for almost 5 years now and I'm donating it in like a month.. My bestfriend passed away in 2010 from leukaemia and,I just want to be able to give something to a little girl that needs something like this just to know that I'm making someone happy makes my day. Same as im going to become a paediatric surgeon when I get older to help kids and people that went and are going through the same things that she went through. 😊😊

Ive always wanted to donate my hair.. its really long, down to my hips in fact.. but unfortunately its far too damaged, mostly from dyeing it every colour of the rainbow. Every site ive read has said they want natural hair. Its a shame, id donate it all if I could.
^ Probably not, most organizations want hair that has never been color treated so there is a good chance they'll throw it away anyway. Sadly :/

Let it go to the natural colour and put conditioner on your [dry] hair and let it sit for an hour. Just do that a few times a week (before you shower is the perfect time) and it'll be nice and soft after a while:)

If you have ever thought about donating hair, even for a second, please do! I promise it is one of the coolest feelings you will ever have. Most places ask for 12 inches, but there are organizations that will also use 8 or 10 inches. Hair grows so fast, it is a very small price for a warm part of your heart to last forever. If you really can't do it because your hair can't grow fast enough or "stops" growing after a while, that's fine. People are pre-programmed to grow our hair to a certain length, so while some can grow it down their backs, people like me can't get it longer than my shoulders.

I have donated 13 inches before. And my mom's friend tried to donate, but even a couple of grey strands made them reject it.
"Hair grows so fast" Not all of us have fast hair growth. Mine takes a very long time to even grow an inch. Right now my hair is around 6-7 inches below my shoulders, took me about a year, or even longer to grow that much. But maybe when I cut my hair, I'll be able to donate it.

So i saw this vid a year ago and thought it was pretty cool, and a month from today im donating my hair. I just told my friend my idea and he told me it was the dumbest thing he heard from me. And that just made me realize that people like them are so enclosed in their own world that they dont know that other people are suffering from cancer or any other type of diseases. Sometimes we dont realize we are fortunate enough and we never think that someone out there wants to be as fortunate as us too. So to whoever reads this please dont be like my friend. please do realize that people are suffering from illnesses and we can help them, we dont need to be rich to do it. Thank you :)))

But why did you do it? I don't get it.. It's sweet but still. I have cancer too and I just wear a wig. I also sometimes just wear a scarf on my head. Did you do it to donate it or just to make cancerpatients feel better? Just know that ''cancerpatients'' are just normal people, we just have a disease that you could get too. I don't get why people treat us like we're so special. I don't like it cause I just want to feel like the other kids.
This is why I donate, an extension of my spirit that can be much more appreciated by a stranger.
