    I didn't make it super clear but the BCM was the defective part that needed to be changed. Harley Corporate had one Overnighted to my local dealer.

      My 2016 road King has had the same issues with starting and the abs and security system. I could find nothing online pointing to the BCM being the problem. I ended up diagnosing myself with a wiring diagram I found online and was able to fix it.

      All 10 of my Harleys have done the same thing /PLUS/ I can customize and personalize every one of my Harleys to the moon and back. You guys crack me up with all of the “My bike is better cuzz” bullshit. I have over 100K on four of my Harleys as well as a few thousand on a Virago and before 2001 I had as many on the HonYams I had too. The only ones that ever “failed” me were the Kawasakis (they were fast as a bat out of hell though) and the one shit pile Suzuki I tried. Cut with the my dick is longer than yours bullshit.

I think it's going to be the most popular color combo lol....though the Sharkskin was but guess we'll be a sea of Whiskey Fire Bikes! I have 500 miles on mine (live in WI, so although we've had a mild winter and I've been able to ride some still weather limited). I haven't had any issues starting or anything like you described, I did have some of the early speaker issues and what not that was fixed with the software updates. So far mine has been solid, but I am keeping an open mind and calm demeanor. I know that buying the first year model for so many changes I'm likely to experience weird issues and I accepted that before I signed the paperwork. That's not a Harley only issue, but basically ANYTHING you buy the first year of (motorcycles, cars, computers, software, etc) you have to be chill about being a bug tester to some degree. I am confident that Harley will fix anything that comes up and we'll have a solid experience with these bikes for years to come.

    But I got to tell you I have a brand new center console boat with three Mercury 600’s. Two of the motors needed new PCM’s, and then a couple of alternators needed to be replaced. I tell you that only to make a point that it’s the technology with all these modern electronics in our different machines and not a Harley specific issue. My RV is the same thing.
    We all want bigger, faster better, but that comes with having to put up with all the problems while they get sorted out. Once the punch list is complete it sure is fun.

    Still had good compression and ran great...needed new carbs. Most of the issues with vehicles today relate to unreliable computer chips/electronics. I wouldn't buy a 1st-year release of any vehicle today...they need a couple years to iron out the glitches. Nice bike...glad they seemingly have your trouble figured out. I have a 2022 Softail Standard and it is great 95% of the time but, weird shit happens from time to time related to the electronics. At 650 miles, it died at a stoplight for no reason with no check engine light. Also, during the winter, better keep it charged or you get check engine lights after recharging it. I have a Ram 1500 just clocked 190K , miles and the electronics are the last thing I have to worry about. HD needs to make the bikes like modern cars, worry free other than basic maintenance otherwise younger people won't buy them.

    People make sure when you trade your bikes in that the bike your purchasing is the contracted properly or warranty will not pay until the issue is corrected. I traded for a 2012 heritage in January 2024 and did not pay attention to the milage on the contract, they put the milage from the bike i traded in on the contract. It's been in for steering steering bearing work that Harley in Texarkana TX decided not to repair it correctly by using the same old worn out parts but packed them with new grease. I received the bike back and the issue was still there. At the present time it's setting at Lonestar Harley in Tyler Tx on a rack in the shop torn down waiting on parts. Warranty won't pay at the moment because milage discrepancy on the contract, so now I've got to wait two more days for Harley to fix the discrepancy so warranty will pay. Haven't got to ride this bike but about 100 miles since January and most of that is riding back to the shop for repairs. It's bad when you ask the shop maintenance boss what all new parts did you put in the steering stem and says! We only repacked the old bearings and had to overtighen the stem bolt to get most of the slack out. I wanna go visit the man that said it but I'd end up in jail, that's taking a chance on killing someone if that was to break going down the highway. The expression on my wife's face when she heard the man say what they had done. I'll be purchasing a Indian if i ever decide to get another bike. This is my second go around with Harley Davidson anyways there won't be a third.

    I have a 2022 Pursuit, and I waited 2 years for it to come out in spite of how bad I wanted a Challenger. Buying a new model is always a crap shoot, and I wanted some of those bugs worked out. Occasionally a light would come on, but Indians stock answer was shut it down, wait a few seconds for it to reset, then crank it up, make sure all of the lights went out and go. Fortunately, the few times that a light or two would come on that process always worked. Hang in there, and remember that you're the guinea pig to get the bugs worked out. Eventually, you'll get everything straightened out, and you'll be able to trust it completely.

    Not jackin on Orlando HD. But I have 3 HD motos. Watchin your vid. I had an interestin conversation with a HD engineer at the HD expo at Daytona Speedway. Most of these new bikes are dealin with poltergeist electrical issues. I figured out when I had a pickup it was easy to run a diagnostic, read codes, Google what the codes are, and one code I found interesting. 1151c. Turns out the engineer was aware of what's goin on. The pin connectors from the ECM and or BCM are coated poorly. If this persists after clearing codes those harnesses need to be replaced. I've checked with seminole HD and they too have seen this. I've got 4000 on my ST and it has done this twice. Both times I cleared the codes and everything went normal. I'm thinking if those terminal connects get moisture on them that's what's giving the problem to the modules. My pan america gave me problems because the AGM factory battery was insufficient to run the infotainment system I switched to a lithium at twice the CCA and that solved that problem. I'm now looking for a lithium for ST. This could be the simple cure. According to NOCO and Antigravity they do not make a replacement lithium at this time. My road king also has a lithium and I've not had any issues. If some has experimented with a lithium for these new bikes it just might be the answer. At least some dealers and HD are aware of the issue. 😊

    • @johnhammered3321
      @johnhammered3321 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @OverlandUSAHD it's how they are used. For instance, when not in use, such as a motorcycle, use the appropriate chargers. My 3 motorcycles are kept on trickle chargers because even though they are off, alarm systems, GPS, sound systems, and cameras consume power. My chargers only charge at 1 Amp. Just enough to keep the battery at full charge. It takes a long charge cycle but won't over charge and cause issues. We use lithium batteries in just about every thing today. If used correctly they are safe.

    I owned 3 HDs since 1998. Fat Boy, Road Glide, Dyna, and several (30 bikes overall since 1970). Not to piss off any HD owners I would say the HDs are the worst initial quality bikes I ever owned. I had Honda's, Kawasaki, Yamaha, Suzuki liter bikes in the 1980's and 1990's and they were pretty much bullet proof. I had Boss Hoss small block and big block (Chevy) bikes in the 2000's. The Boss Hoss reminded me of a home-made project bike and they were. Heat problems with those. The Fat Boy bike smoked on the way to work with 300 miles on the odo and it was the paper tappet cover gaskets gone bad. The Dallas Dealer installed red rubber gaskets but wanted $400 and the bike was under warranty. We argued on that one. I think the best overall bike I ever owned was a 1979 Kawasaki SR650 4 cylinder (to date). I rode that machine into the ground going to work and college. It sat out in the ice and snow and on my porch and always ran like a marathon man. I blew a back tire and rode it 10 miles on a flat and it didn't hurt the bike. I sold it in 1984 with 65,000 miles. Never anything bad happened with that bike. It was like a US Navy Seal. Just kept going. I now own a Triumph Rocket 3 GT. The torque is amazing with 221 n/m or about 155 pound-feet at 4000 rpm. The build quality is amazing. HD sales are down the last 3 years and good reason for it. Mellennials don't have gobs of cash to purchase an HD bike. The Covid pandemic left a lot of people with less disposible income. Housing costs are up. HD won't budge on their prices and Asian bikes are sometimes half of the cost of a Harley. And Harleys are not all American built either. To each their own but I won't purchase another HD.

    You'll probably never fully trust that bike. I had a significant issue with a vehicle of mine and it took the local dealer 3 weeks to fix it. It's still not perfect but it hasn't left me stranded. Now that I'm out of the warranty period it's more of z concern. You just feel like your days are numbered. At least my wife agrees that if it happens again the vehicle is gone.
