      @kainharris6547 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      RickyisHere not really caring about taking off the bumper because that's the correct way to work on any car, but the rust is my main issue with this, its not had to give it a little spray black while everything is out of the way, also I've had a z31 got rid of it to get a z34 and I wouldn't change a thing and I've still got a 280zx as my project so Ive had enough of rust and am going to do anything I can to keep all rust off my z34 including the fuel cap screws hahaha I wouldn't dare touch the 370 its a brilliant car as is, nismo 370z only just came to Australia so I might upgrade to that when I can but that'll be a few years

    The 370Z already has a very optimized intake, you may only see 2-3HP at the top end with the system but who cares.
    They look sweet when you open the hood and the sound is great.

    • @robertzamora5201
      @robertzamora5201 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      BigHeadClan please explain how it would only gain 2-3HP at top end? Maybe without a tune but surely gain noticeable gains after one

    • @BigHeadClan
      @BigHeadClan 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@robertzamora5201 Aye I'm referring to the intake without a tune, most people who only get an intake or exhaust just leave it at that
      without getting a tune.
      With a tune it's probably closer to 12-16HP which is something the old butt-dyno would pick up.

    • @robertzamora5201
      @robertzamora5201 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      BigHeadClan depends on the intake you get if it’s the same diameter as stock intakes then you don’t require a turn right away like the Z1 intakes but any 3 inch intakes requires a tune...I would personally do exhaust first headers y pipe catback then go intakes and tune that way you don’t spend money twice on a tune if you do the intakes first

    • @BigHeadClan
      @BigHeadClan 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@robertzamora5201 So long as the MAF retains the orginal specifications a tune shouldn't really be required even with a 3in. Intake.
      But for sure you don't want to pay twice for a tune, headers would be last on my list of installs though.
      Currently saving for my Takeda Stg II intake and a Borla exhaust, after that it will all be suspension mods.

    • @ssfirehawk02

      Kaci Park No, you're actually incorrect. The pedal response is delayed in all versions. An ecutek tune opens the throttle bodies much faster and more linear than stock; manual, or auto

    • @ssfirehawk02
      @ssfirehawk02 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      JJ When you do some bolt on upgrades, you'll need a tune at some point to correct the AFR's, adjust ignition timing, and a whole slew of other things. With Ecutek, it has a table where you can adjust throttle sensitivity. The stock value is slow to ramp up until you're over 60-70%. The ecutek throttle position map is linear and the throttlebodies open faster. Think of it like BMW's sport mode, but on all the time for Throttle sensitivity.

  • @Operator_Viking
    @Operator_Viking 7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    The intakes alone will not add power, The Zs have the best stock intake in the world dyno proven time and time again. You will lose power most likely, because now the air has a longer distance to travel, with an 800$ uprev tune you might gain 5-10hp at the crank. with 20% drivetrain loss the gain to the wheels will be very minimal, add some good quality headers and a REAL exhaust system and by that I mean either true duals with high flow cats or cat delete or single exit such as agency power then go get a tune and you will get a nice 20 to the wheels. Good luck bro

    • @weitzenteoh833
      @weitzenteoh833 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Corey Kauffman stock headers are pretty good from what I heard. The exhaust part is very true - stock system is so restrictive from cats onwards.

    • @Operator_Viking
      @Operator_Viking 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes the stock headers are good but some nice long tubes will gain you more power with a good tune, and yes the stock system is very restrictive because of all of our stupid emission laws in the US. Agency power is a very good system with art 2 test pipes but if not done correctly you wont be able to pass inspection, but the power gains with tune will very good

    • @ulisesroldan2955
      @ulisesroldan2955 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Corey Kauffman nope it adds like 12 hp around there. It's proven do your research again. I got them and you can feel the difference . Plus without the bumper it feels like a beast

    • @Operator_Viking
      @Operator_Viking 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ulises Roldan don't really need to do my research considering my car is a built track car, "feeling the difference" and a dyno sheet are totally different. Every intake says they add 10+ HP without a tune they do not, because the engines ecu does not compensate for extra air coming in without a tune therefore you lose performance. Do your research bro. Feeling the difference when you bolt on the intake is the exact mental reaction they want you to have so you keep buying bolt on parts thinking they are actually making a real difference with out a tune. And if you don't understand that thwn you obviously have no knowledge of EFI tuning, AFR, or timing variables.

    • @Edc_mindset
      @Edc_mindset 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      well your numbers are off. have the same car and have stillen longtube intakes and car gained 13 rwhp about 20 to the crank with just this mod. with HFC and catback and tune I made 341 rwhp and 405 on the crank. that's 55 crank hp with intakes art pipes and catback and uprev tune stock headersat the moment if I do them car will make about 352 rwhp

    So to everyone saying CAI doesn't make power, it really needs a tune. Nothing is wrong being behind the bumper. They don't need cleaned often.
    I had intakes, exhaust and testpipes. My base Dyno was 305, after all the parts, I was at 315. A tune brought it to 327. If the intakes are your first mod, it has better gains. But on the Nismo, with the free flowing exhaust, there are less gains than advertised. I've never seen anyone say they didn't make power with a CAI on the 370Z in my 6 years of ownership. So the ignorance being spread from jealous individual's is completely wrong.
    Not everyone needs a turbo. These intakes are $500, turbos are $10,000. A Stillen SC kit out the box is actually trash. Their tune is trash, their manifold is trash, the pipes are trash, and the MAF placement is near the filter, which causes IAT's to read lower than they are which can cause ignition timing to not be optimal and you start knocking and pre-detonating.
    If everyone is this damn salty and jealous about him modding his car, y'all have some serious issues.

    • @STILLENvids
      @STILLENvids 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Do you have personal experience with our kits?
      It reads to us like you're parroting misninformation here, rather than first - or even secondhand - experience, so we felt it necessary to provide the correct information.
      Out of the box, our tunes are designed to be as turn-key as possible, and pass CA smog and will maintain the factory Nissan powertrain warranty - that translates to 430whp that's useable every day whether you're commuting or slicing through Big and Little Tujunga. To our knowledge, there are currently no other CARB EO#, OEM-Approved forced induction options for the VQ35HR or VQ37HR.
      Many aftermarket tuners utilize the components in our kits to get upwards of 700hp out of the VQ - same plenum, same supercharger head unit.
      Obviously, a custom tune tailored to the vehicle will outperform a generic canned tune, but the tradeoff there is that you no longer have the factory powertrain warranty or more importantly that CARB Exempt EO#.
      You may not be familiar with the car scene here in California, but they've cracked down quite a bit on emissions; you can't just 'bribe a guy' to get past smog like some folks would do in the past. You cannot even BUY (not new from a retailer anyways) parts that are not CARB EO approved in CA anymore. Unfortunately, we're not exaggerating either.

    If the air intakes are directly behind a solid portion of the front bumper, how do they get any air? Wouldn't it make more since to have them slightly lower, so they are behind the open area of the bumper?

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ArokhX It's sucking the air from the same source as stock. I think the airflow going under the crash bar probably provides plenty of air. I still might do a custom air duct just for fun

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Knife Nut it is a cold air intake because it's sucking the air from inside the bumper, just like the stock intake. A short Ram Intake has the exposed filters in the engine bay, and that will be sucking in hot air.

    I had to remove mine because my Q60 felt a lot slower after installation, people are saying you don’t need to tune your car after installing a long tube CAI but I strongly disagree, you definitely need a tune.

    the stock intake is great considering we already have a cold air intake and if you just add drop in K&N filters you can get around 14whp gains up top with no tune. It's been dyno proven on video otherwise I wouldn't have believed it. With our VVEL system having our throttle body flaps always open our intake tubes and intake manifold are always full with fresh air so If you have a scan tool and check out the IAT and the temp outside is 60-65 degrees and ur goin 45-55 mph for example, the temp I see in my stock G37S temp is never more than 65-70 degrees but with ur intake and a tune I'm assuming it would make more power overall. I'm just sayin the drop ins are the best bang for your buck and obviously ez as hell to install. great video though man.

    I just bought a 2010 roadster and it has an aftermarket intake. I'll need to pull the front bumper to figure out what it is. Also has at least and axle back exhaust but could be something more, Oh the dangers of buying a used car from a dealership that knows nothing about the car, Anyway I'm in the middle of replacing and updating the bungees with addition of the spring tether on the soft top fifth bow because the top wouldn't open when I bought the car, it was a good negotiating point that saved me $1,500 for $222 in parts and of course several hours of my time. I'm going to have fun getting this car 100% sorted then drive it for a while and sell it because I get bored fast.

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed

      Actually no. The Z has a pretty smart ECU and actually compensated for the upgraded intakes. These do add about 10 HP. I ended up putting my car on the dyno in a later vid and mine was making more power then a bunch of stock Nismo cars that had been on the same dyno. And talking with the masters who tune these cars, the ECU compensates in favor of more power

      Anyone recommending HFC has not had them longer than 2 years. On the dyno, they basically make no power and are junk. Please do not recommend buying HFC to people because they will fail in 2-3 years with a PO420 code. I'm talking from experience. VQ owner for 12 years here and if you are around the VQ family long enough Motordyne ART pipes and Shockwave are really how you go exotic.

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed

      How not? The air is getting pulled in from the same exact spot. Air is flowing under the crash bar and the filter sits on top. The airflow creates enough flow 6 inches away from the filter and the vacuum of the engine draws it in through the filter
