Well done Richard, enjoyed it very much. Nice scenery and from the looks of it, fine cool weather too. However, i must take my hat off you for your fermented tofu adventure! I cannot even go near it because of strong smell. I have yet to overcome it. An acquired taste I guessed.
I can also recommend another thing to do, end your trip in Beitou, book a hot spring bath and take a hot spring, they offer day bath as well as optional staying a night at the hot spring hotel, although this experience is getting expensive as many Beitou hot spring hotels/resorts has done up and improve to 5 stars standards....
I don't know Chinese. I've probably picked up 30-40 characters watching Taiwan TH-camrs with CC. I now know volcano (火山). Only a couple of thousand to go!!!!!! Unfortunately I won't live that long.
I'm usually not a prude when it comes to food, Richard, but the one thing that I really can't handle is fermented tofu. I'm almost surprised because I love all fermented foods; tempeh, kimchi, natto... I guess it really is the smell that turns me off.
Well done guys! I am sure you enjoyed yourselves. The wind was so strong on top of the mountain, I thought the three of you might lift off and take flight.
I am from Malaysia 🇲🇾 We just went to Xiaoyoukeng few weeks ago but we didn't hike. Thanks for the sharing and I love that ice-cream so much 🤭 I tried pineapple 🍍 It is really delicious with natural taste ❤
Like the misty feeling we dont get here in Spore. As for the stinky tofu...argh! I wont get near it even if u pay me S$1K😓. Many yrs back they hv it at Chinatown Complex, I threw out everything I ate for lunch upon smelling it! 😫😫
Hi Richard! Was wondering when you would go 台北 and do a 陽明山 video! This was a great video as always. Great to see Andrew and Hugo again! Especially Hugo with his characteristic double hiking poles! Looking forward to your next video. And I do wish you could do 2 videos per week!
I remember first time i had ordered lamb steak with blue cheese in New Zealand decades ago. I called the girl angrily and complained about the quality of the food.
3:16 - LOL sorry... when you first saw your friends and said “好久不见" (long time no see), I misheard it as "how's your Fujian?" (asking him how his Taiwanese was).🤣😂 Cuz, you said that in the Westerner way, my brain was still hearing English Words ... 😂🤣😂 ps - I found that Boba Bread at Breadtalk in Singapore 😁😁
At the end of this video, you probably meant to say ‘fight for mental health’, not ‘fight against mental health’. That’s what eating too much stinky tofu does to the brain!
Hey, I have not spoken to you for a while. Good to see you doing this. Your perspective has been quite objective in doing comparisons of different places. I like to see your take on TW vs. CN.
Nice clear view from the top, in the beginning of your video especially after the typhoon. All the pollution washed away. Japan was also hit by 2 typhoons within 2 weeks. But the 2nd Typhoon wasnt as strong as the 1st. Heavy rain hit South of Japan, as usual, they get hit really bad before it went to Shanghai. Dont know much abt Taiwan. Thanks for your interesting hike videos n history of Taiwan.🙏🗾 Oh my favorite, Fermented tofu.
Unless they don't make it anymore... But you should have tried 臭膏 (stinky paste) at Dai's. As you can probably tell by its name, this stinky tofu no longer resembles tofu. It has disintegrated into some slimy gooey paste after the long fermentation process. Edited to add that 臭膏 is not on the menu. You'd have to ask for it.
My favorite morning show! keep it going, Richard! take care there you guys!
Thanks! Will do!
great to see you hiking again in Taiwan and including Hugo, your capable foil
Well done Richard, enjoyed it very much. Nice scenery and from the looks of it, fine cool weather too. However, i must take my hat off you for your fermented tofu adventure! I cannot even go near it because of strong smell. I have yet to overcome it. An acquired taste I guessed.
Thanks 👍 Actually the smell wasn't too bad. Hugo acts as the canary in the coal mine as I am immune. Even he didn't complain!
👌👍🏻nice show ! Richard.
If I do it will be off camera. TH-cam is not ready for 3 old men in a hot spring!
I don't know Chinese. I've probably picked up 30-40 characters watching Taiwan TH-camrs with CC. I now know volcano (火山). Only a couple of thousand to go!!!!!! Unfortunately I won't live that long.
Taiwan is a beautiful country. ❤️ 🇹🇼
I'm usually not a prude when it comes to food, Richard, but the one thing that I really can't handle is fermented tofu. I'm almost surprised because I love all fermented foods; tempeh, kimchi, natto... I guess it really is the smell that turns me off.
Actually, it wasn't that smelly. Or maybe I'm immune these days?
@@AsiaHikelopedia You do get used to smelly smells... so I'm not so surprised.
Chaoling Historical Trail Manchao Festival is just coming next month. You can prepare for that. It is the best moment to climb.
Love the feeling of being in the clouds at mountainous places. Something that I’ll never get to experience in Singapore 🙁
Nice view Richard👍👍👍ur die hard fans fm Singapore😁
Well done guys! I am sure you enjoyed yourselves. The wind was so strong on top of the mountain, I thought the three of you might lift off and take flight.
It was fun!
Great video! It was also really heartwarming to hear 阿姨们 chatting in the background at the 臭豆腐 place. Missed that feeling so much.
I am from Malaysia 🇲🇾

Richard is superb , just like going on a tour with him every week , the man is awesome , i missed him yet i never felt his absence
Yes! multiple vehicles are the best strategy for everyone to get involved in a non-loop hike!
Actually, this one can be done pretty easily on public transport! Details are in the description.
Stinky,
"All alive still."🤣
This is how you talk to your dearest friends.
Woww ... Awesome 🇲🇾
A 老外 eating & enjoying stinky tofu, even many Chinese would run away from stinky tofu 😂
😋
A nice hike Richard and with old friends . Tofu is an acquired taste i believe and i haven't really tried it but you never know :-)
Tofu itself doesn't have much taste to acquire, but the fermented stuff in next level.
Wonderful stinky Cabin or Skunk Hut........It's really pretty cool
Hi Richard! Was wondering when you would go 台北 and do a 陽明山 video! This was a great video as always. Great to see Andrew and Hugo again! Especially Hugo with his characteristic double hiking poles! Looking forward to your next video. And I do wish you could do 2 videos per week!
Me too, but the subtitles take up too much of my time!
Glad I finally have a characteristic anything! Those poles and my boots have saved me many times.
That raw stinky tofu blow my mind XD
It's good!
You make me hungry when you having stinky tofu.
Thanks Richard, I love this stinky Saturday in Taiwan Taipei 👍🤠
Amazing hike ends with stinky toufu.
The best ending!
Kudos to you, Richard, that raw stinky tofu is really beyond my stomach's reach.
8:47 I can't believe it gets that windy there.....no black doggie followed you guys this time?
No dog, just lots of wind!

Haha!
I wasn't used to abuse from him, but quickly recovered!
Does Taiwan have non dodgy Massage Parlors? Asking for a friend.
Yes. Blind people massage!
Great video. Thanks for good view and food journey. You are guru in Taiwan.
Long time no see~ Hugo😄
Long time no see Richard!

Nice! But I never saw it when I was in Sing.
At the end of this video, you probably meant to say ‘fight for mental health’, not ‘fight against mental health’. That’s what eating too much stinky tofu does to the brain!
Haha! Someone noticed!
I liked the fried stinky tofu, but I agree, it's an acquired taste.
What phone are you using?
Just a crappy mid-range Samsung
@@AsiaHikelopedia haha I'm using a redmi but yours looks really nice.
Having scallion pancake in the bush 😋 what a nice breakfast
Yes it was!

Such a fun video to watch. Thanks, Richard!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hi Richard
Thanks for the nice introduction of 阳明山!
You are welcome!
Why not
Nice. Stay safe Richard. We are waiting for your video every week here in Singapore.
Hiking is my favourite thing to do. Especially in Taiwan. I've hiked Yangmingshan before but not this part. Next time I'm there!
You should! It's a nice hike, but brutal when it's hot.
Nice video Richard. Just a quick question I noticed you had a mask on throughout your hike. Is that compulsory in Taipei or just personal preference?
Compulsory at the moment, even when outside hiking. Which I think is a bit silly. But them's the rules.
The tofu burger looks interesting. Yes, a VERY BIG thumbs-up for eating the “raw” tofu. 😜
Thank you 😋
Knowing Taiwan, this will soon become your most popular video ever.
You think so?
wish we have raw tofu in Singapore
Wow.... Exotic Food!
Great video Richard!
Thanks!
Nice trail, great windy weather and with wonderful friends!
Yes it was!
