Nice video, I met Ted Furey when I was a young boy, My father brought me to his house to buy a fiddle, he gave me a 50 pence piece. What a great memory to have. Im 41 now and remember it like it was yesterday. My dad still plays and he is 85. Thanks for posting.
I had thought that Ted was a legend in the true sense meaning that you had to rely on those who knew him to know of him. I thought that all that remained was a few videos like this and a horrible LP, Toss the Feathers. Then I found two LPs made in France on EBay. I bought them and had them converted to CDs and put them on my computer. The video I posted is just one track. I will send the albums to anyone who asks. Your response will go to an e-mail address I seldom check so be patient.

A fabulous historical record made all the better by wonderful musicianship.

@clarebannerman Tom Flood is the box player, from wexford, now lives in NY. Patsy Hanly is the flute playe
And the big man clapping at the end is Tom Harte RIP from Keadue Roscommon .
This video has everything; fiddle, box, hat, beard, Aran sweater, collar and tie, cute kid, toes tapping - the lot! *****

I think the box player is actually a young John Regan. I'm on the same programme later, playing with Kathleen Smyth.
Fiddler at 0:34 and 1:03 is Eugene McGrath from Garryspillane Co. Limerick... Died 1990

That is why I love Patsy Hanley and lucky I am that he lives so far away or I would be his slave. Such a great player
He was a neighbour of mine, lovely man

For those who have played sessions, this know as the is the session look. It is known through out the world. : 0 )
They are making beautifull music...
WHY aren't they SMILING?! :(
Because they're busy making beautiful music.
It is the traditional "look" when playing ...concentrating on the music and keeping time...
Because Irish are serious people
@@fanmaxis3004
Yes, we're seriously happy making music.
the lad with the big beard!!
Where’s the wee fella now I wonder.
lucy campbells a Scottish fiddle reel.
Has anyone been able to identify the banjo player here? From the very little I can hear of him, he has a lovely style.
It's Eddie Furey with the banjo and Paul Furey beside him - as I see it.
@@multiannette12 Ah bingo! I think you're spot on with Eddie though I felt it was Paddy O'Brien from Offaly on the box. Maybe I'm wrong.
@@paahto_c Check out the cover of Finbar and Eddie Furey- Come By The Hills - you'll see it :)
